First Time to the Tricky Triangle… Cale Gale will make his first trip to the Pocono (Pa.) Raceway (“The Tricky Triangle”) this weekend for the Pocono Mountains 125. Brand new to the track, Gale has never even visited the Pocono Mountains and will turn his first career laps on The Tricky Triangle during Friday’s practice session. Following a major repave at the 2.5-mile speedway over the off-season, the playing field will likely be leveled across the board as drivers adapt to the new surface.
Crew Members Racing Near Home… The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series’ (NCWTS) only stop in Pennsylvania will give several Eddie Sharp Racing (ESR) crew members the chance to see their family and friends. Justin Peiffer, a member of the No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet team, grew up in nearby Lebanon, Pa. and joined Eddie Sharp Racing in 2008. The 2003 graduate of Cedar Crest High School acts as a mechanic, fabricator and pit support for Cale Gale and the No. 33 Rheem team. Ashleigh Aungst, public relations manager at Eddie Sharp Racing, grew up in Palmyra, Pa. Aungst, a 2005 graduate of Palmyra Area High School, joined ESR in January to work with Cale Gale and the Rheem team.
Rheem Crew Members Goes to the Movies… Greg Powell, the front tire changer for Cale Gale and the No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet team, will make his Hollywood debut on Wednesday, August 8, in Nitro Circus The Movie 3D. Powell, a graduate of the University of Maryland, has been riding bikes and doing stunts with his cousin, Travis Pastrana, since they were young. Meet Cale Gale… Fans will have several opportunities to meet Gale throughout the race weekend at Pocono Raceway. The driver of the No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet will participate in the NCWTS Autograph Session on Friday afternoon, August 3, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the fan midway. At 3:00 p.m., Gale will join teammate Justin Lofton at the Chevy Stage for a Q&A session. Later that evening, at 6:20 p.m. Gale and Lofton will also make an appearance at Pocono Raceway’s Infield Concert Stage.
Battling for Points… Gale continues to hold his ground in both the NCWTS championship points battle and the Sunoco Rookie of the Year standings. With three top-10 finishes this season, Gale is solidly within the top 15 in drivers points, ranking 14th, and ranks 16th in the owner points standings. Currently second in the Rookie of the Year points, Gale is chasing down leader Ty Dillon. Gale was named the Sunoco Rookie of the Race for his sixth-place finish at Chicagoland (Ill.) Speedway on July 21.

Cale Gale Quotes… On preparing for a new track: “It’s always challenging going to a racetrack for the very first time. You never quite know what to expect. I’ve tried to prepare for this weekend as much as I can. I’ve been practicing a lot on iRacing to get ready. I found Austin Dillon’s on-board video from when he did a tire test at Pocono a few months ago, so I watched that too. I’ll probably watch last year’s race on the internet before we head up there. There’s only so much that you can do to get ready, but I’ve been trying to do everything I can to gain a familiarity with the track before I climb in the Rheem Chevrolet.”
On racing at Pocono Raceway for the first time: “I haven’t actually been to Pocono Raceway yet, so it will all be new to me. I don’t really know what to expect this weekend. I know that everyone calls it the ‘Tricky Triangle,’ and I’m excited to go get my taste of it with the Rheem Chevrolet and see just how tricky it really is. Jerry [Baxter, crew chief] and all the guys have been working really hard to be sure that we have a good truck for this weekend. The track was just paved and will be new to a lot of guys. This is one of those races where we don’t really have any expectations going into it; we’ll just take what it gives us. We’re right in the middle of our busy season, so hopefully we’re able to come out of Pocono Raceway with something positive to continue our momentum moving forward.”

Jerry Baxter Quotes… On getting ready to race at Pocono Raceway: “Clearly, Pocono Raceway is different than any other track we go to; it’s the only track with three turns. Each turn is a little different and getting the setup right is important, but speed is also very important. We did a tire and gear test for NASCAR earlier this week at Michigan International Speedway where we learned a little bit about drag. You basically run wide open at Pocono and we think we’ll benefit from what we learned during the test. The race is only 125 miles, which means that strategy will be key. Teams will have the option of taking just two tires, or potentially no tires at all. The Rheem team is basically blind to the track going in this weekend; we need to start with getting Cale accustomed to the track and then work on our Chevrolet from there. We have two hours and fifty minutes in practice, which is a lot longer than usual. We’re taking truck number 46; it’s a race-winning truck from KHI, and we’ve done a lot of work to get it ready for this weekend. Hopefully it will be a great race.”

No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet Silverado Truck Information
The No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet team will compete with chassis No. 046 as their primary truck at Pocono Raceway. It is the same chassis that Gale and the Rheem team raced at Rockingham Speedway earlier this season. In that race, the Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender rolled off in the 13th position and crossed the finish line 17th.
