Austin Dillon leads practice for Royal Purple 300 at Auto Club Speedway

At the end of final practice for the Nationwide Series, it’d be last year’s rookie of the year Austin Dillon topping the charts with a lap of 40.728 seconds. Dillon is looking to rebound after finishing 11th last week at Bristol Motor Speedway. He finished fifth at Auto Club Speedway last year.

Kyle Larson would time in second, 0.232 seconds off of Dillon. This marks Larson’s first start at Auto Club Speedway as he continues to learn the ropes. Larson showcased his talent last week at Bristol following a thrilling last lap battle with Kyle Busch for the lead where Larson would lose by inches.

Elliott Sadler would time in third as he looks to bounce back after engine problems last week at Bristol Motor Speedway. Sadler finished ninth last year at Fontana.

Last week’s pole sitter Justin Allgaier was fourth, followed by points leader Sam Hornish Jr.

Last week’s race winner Kyle Busch was sixth as he looks for his sixth win at Fontana. He was followed by Regan Smith, Nelson Piquet Jr., Dakoda Armstrong and Kevin Swindell.

Nationwide Series qualifying takes place tomorrow morning, with the race following in the afternoon at 5pm EST.
