Kurt Busch Passionately Accepts Speedway Children’s Charities Award

FORT WORTH, Texas (April 12, 2013) — Kurt Busch gave a passionate speech (Youtube.com/furniturerow racing) during Thursday night’s Texas Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Gala.

Busch, a former NASCAR Sprint Cup champion and driver of the No. 78 Furniture Row Chevrolet, was the recipient of the Maj. Gen. Thomas Sadler Award for his work with Speedway Children’s Charities.

Busch’s charitable efforts touched the lives of children in North Texas. His work as host of the Kurt Busch Celebrity Bowling Tournament and Busch-Whacked Mud Run helped raise more than $40,000 for the Speedway Children’s Charities-Texas Chapter.

Busch stressed the importance of giving back and making a difference in his speech to the gathering at the Speedway Club Grand Ballroom. He not only emotionally articulated his work with Speedway Children’s Charities but also with Victory Junction Gang Camp, Special Olympics and the Armed Forces Foundation.

“To receive this humanitarian award named after Major General Thomas Sadler, an American hero who flew more than 400 combat missions during his military career is quite an honor,” said Busch. “Helping children and members of the military and their families is very important to me and that’s why this award is so special. I want to thank the Texas Motor Speedway staff, led by Eddie Gossage, for its outstanding work with Speedway Children’s Charities.”
