This Week’s Cheerios Chevrolet at Las Vegas Motor Speedway … Austin Dillon will pilot Chassis No. 451 in the Kobalt Tools 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This is a new Chevrolet SS that will be utilized for the first time this weekend.
Dillon at Las Vegas Motor Speedway … Dillon has made one previous NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, posting a 21st-place finish in March 2013. In two Nationwide Series appearances at the Las Vegas track, he has posted a pair of top-10 finishes (sixth after starting fourth in March 2013 and seventh after starting third in March 2012). He has two starts at the 1.5-mile oval in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series with one pole award and one race win to his credit (September 2010). In his 2011 Camping World Truck Series appearance at the track, Dillon started second and battled back from a lap-three accident to finish 17th.

Las Vegas has great atmosphere. There are a lot of great fans. It’s one of my favorite venues we go. I was fortunate enough to race there in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series last year and we had a decent car, so this year I’m excited to try it again.”

This Week’s Quaker State/Menards Chevrolet at Las Vegas Motor Speedway … Paul Menard will pilot chassis No. 454 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend. This No. 27 Chevrolet SS is a new addition to the Richard Childress Racing stable for the 2014 season.
Las Vegas by the Numbers … Menard is making his 258th career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start this Sunday, and he has seven previous starts at the 1.5-mile Las Vegas Motor Speedway. His best start of 17th took place last year and his best finish of seventh was two years ago in 2012. His average start is 26.0 and average finish comes in at 19.3 for those starts. The native of Eau Claire, Wisc. has completed 1,866 of 1,887 laps attempted (98.9 percent) at the Las Vegas track and led three circuits. His last three finishes have been 12th or better giving him a Driver Rating of 92.3 for those races.

Race Rewind … In this race last year at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Menard started the No. 27 Chevrolet SS from 17th place and finished the race in 10th place for his second-consecutive top-10 finish at the track.
One Week Ago … Last week at Phoenix International Raceway, Menard started 22nd and finished 23rd. As a result, he currently sits 24th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver points standings heading into the third race of the 2014 season.

What are your thoughts on racing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway:
“Las Vegas has been a good track for us the past couple years. We haven’t won, but I feel like we can every time I roll through the tunnel in Turn 2 to enter the track. The pavement is wearing and the track is gaining more and more character with the high frequency bumps and grip level going away. Track position is important as always, but it is a track where multiple groves come in and you can pass more easily than other tracks.”

What are you expecting at the 1.5-mile tracks now that we go to Las Vegas Motor Speedway?
“We’ve done a little bit of testing between Charlotte Motor Speedway and Nashville Superspeedway and tracks like that. so I think Las Vegas Motor Speedway is going to be extremely important; especially not knowing what the weather is going to be like. We seem to be pulling rain wherever we go. But, just getting a good vibe for what is our backbone core of racing on the 1.5-mile race tracks is going to be important for everybody at Vegas.”
How important is an extra four hours of testing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway?
“I think it’s important. I think it’s important to know how your car is and how comfortable you are as a driver. It kind of gives you a different perspective on how you need to unload the race car on Friday. Do you need to spend more time in race trim or in qualifying trim? The extra little bit of laps is good for giving you a heads-up.”

This Week’s Whitetail Chevrolet at Las Vegas Motor Speedway … After missing the pole position by nearly two one thousands of a second last weekend at Phoenix International Raceway, Brian Scott and his No. 2 Whitetail Chevrolet Camaro will once again race chassis No. 110 this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This chassis has finished 14th or better in the seven previous races it has been utilized. Scott earned an eighth-place finish at Auto Club Speedway last March.
Sin City Stats … Scott will be making his fifth NASCAR Nationwide Series start this weekend in the Boyd Gaming 300. In four previous starts, Scott has an average start of seventh and an average finish of 22nd. Scott captured his best starting position, third, and best finishing position, ninth, last season in his Richard Childress Racing Camaro. Scott also has three NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts at the 1.5-mile speedway.
Did you know? … The Whitetail Club will shine on the hood of the No. 2 Chevrolet Camaro on Saturday afternoon. Whitetail was the primary partner during Scott’s NASCAR Sprint Cup series Daytona 500 debut at Daytona International Speedway and at Phoenix International Raceway last weekend. The bright orange, white and black scheme will support the McCall, Idaho living community on Payette Lake, just two hours north of Boise, Idaho for the 200-lap event.

Rearview Mirror … Brian Scott qualified on the outside pole for the NASCAR Nationwide Series Blue Jeans Go Green 200 at Phoenix International Raceway missing the top speed by only two one thousands of a second. The field was brought down pit road on lap 167 for an accident on the back stretch in addition to rain that started to dampen the asphalt surface. It continued to fall ending the NNS race, despite a valiant effort by NASCAR and the track crews to dry the surface. The 11th-place finish moved Scott up three positions in the driver point standings to eighth heading into Saturday’s NNS race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
BRIAN SCOTT QUOTES:
Las Vegas Motor Speedway is the first 1.5-mile track of the season. How do you feel about your Whitetail Chevrolet?
“I think Las Vegas will really show us who worked the hardest in the off-season. The 1.5-mile program is the most important race type on the Nationwide schedule. They are the majority of our races. Normally, whoever can dominate and control the 1.5-mile track, they have the best chance of going on to be a champion. Each year you see different teams stepping up to the plate. We didn’t have this program with our Camaro last year with the new nose style figured out quite right. I think we learned a lot through the year. The guys worked really hard on all aspects of our 1.5-mile program during the off-season and I really hope everyone is chasing RCR when we get to the 1.5-mile tracks.”
Is Las Vegas one of your favorite tracks on the tour?
“Yes. I would say Phoenix and Las Vegas are two of my favorite cities. They are close to my home state of Idaho, so I have a lot of family and friends that come out. There are a lot of areas we travel to during the NASCAR season that I really enjoy; even some of the more low-key places like Road America. I think New Hampshire is beautiful. City wise, everybody loves to go to Las Vegas. I like gambling, I like playing Black Jack, but I don’t gamble a lot of money.”

This Week’s Jiffy Lube/Red Kap Chevrolet at Las Vegas Motor Speedway … Ty Dillon will pilot NASCAR Nationwide Series chassis No. 136 in Saturday’s Boyd Gaming 300. Last season this chassis was raced at Kentucky Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway, recording a top-five finish in both races by the No. 3 team. This will be the first time it will be featured at LVMS.
Dillon in the NASCAR Nationwide Series at Las Vegas Motor Speedway … Dillon is making his second-career Nationwide Series start at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Last March, Dillon drove the No. 33 WESCO Chevrolet to an 11th place finish and, in the Camping World Truck Series race in September, won the pole award in the No. 3 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet Silverado.
Last week at Phoenix International Raceway … The No. 3 WESCO Chevrolet Camaro finished 10th in a rain-shortened race. The red flag came out on lap 168 and Dillon earned his second top-10 finish of the season. He was the second-place rookie of the race and currently sits fourth in the Nationwide Series points standings.
Meet Ty Dillon … Fans have an opportunity to meet Ty at an autograph session in Las Vegas on Thursday, March 6 at South Point Hotel & Casino beginning at 5:30 p.m. Pacific Time. Dillon is scheduled to sign autographs with RCR teammates Brendan Gaughan, Brian Scott, Ryan Newman and Austin Dillon. You won a pole at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last September. What are your thoughts heading into this weekend?
“Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a great race track and a great town to visit. We always look forward to this weekend on our schedule. I had a chance to run in a Nationwide Series race there last season and the Truck Series race in September, so I definitely learned a lot. We hope to get a good run in this weekend and keep our eye on the goal of winning a championship this season.”

This Week’s Trackett Flooring/Menards car at Las Vegas Motor Speedway … Matt Crafton will pilot chassis No. 120 in Saturday afternoon’s NASCAR Nationwide Series event. This Richard Childress Racing-prepared car was driven to Victory Lane at Atlanta Motor Speedway in 2013 and earned two additional top-five finishes last season.
Returning to Nationwide with RCR … This weekend, Crafton returns to the seat of the No. 33 Trackett Flooring/Menards car. This marks his fourth-career Nationwide Series start, having made impressive runs at Kentucky Speedway and Chicagoland Speedway last year. In his 2013 series efforts, the Tulare, Calif. native qualified inside the top eight and earned two third-place finishes and three top-10 finishes behind the wheel of the No. 33 entry.
LVMS Stats … While this weekend marks Crafton’s first-career Nationwide Series start at the D-shaped oval, he has 13 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts under his belt. Among those starts, he has five top-five (three second-place finishes) and six top-10 finishes along with 63 laps led.

This Week’s South Point Hotel & Casino Chevrolet at Phoenix International Raceway … Brendan Gaughan will pilot chassis No. 130 in the NASCAR Nationwide Series Boyd Gaming 300. Last season, this Chevrolet Camaro was utilized by Kevin Harvick at Chicagoland Speedway in September and by Paul Menard at Kansas Speedway in October, who both brought home top-10 finishes.
Gaughan’s Hometown Stats … Gaughan will make his fourth start in the NNS series at his home track of Las Vegas Motor Speedway. In three starts, Gaughan has accumulated one top-five and two top-10 finishes. To add to his finishes, he has led seven laps and completed 100 percent of the laps ran with an average finish of 8.3.
