Target Chip Ganassi Racing Partners With the Oscar Mayer Brand to Introduce P3 Portable Protein Pack to the Racing Community

CONCORD, N.C.  (April 11, 2014) – Target Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (TCGRFS) has partnered with the Oscar Mayer brand to help introduce P3 Portable Protein Pack to the NASCAR community.  The packs of meat, cheese and nuts are designed for active consumers looking for a snack to help keep them going throughout the day.  It is a perfect fit with the on-the-go lifestyle of NASCAR drivers and crews.

Kyle Larson, driver of the No. 42 Target Chevrolet, and his pit crew will be carrying the P3 Portable Protein Pack branding on their familiar Target uniforms and car throughout the Southern 500 weekend in Darlington, SC, while Oscar Mayer P3 Portable Protein Pack will use the backdrop of a NASCAR race weekend to teach fans the virtues of the P3 Portable Protein Pack product.

Notes of Interest:

·       About P3 Portable Protein Pack:  Oscar Mayer is well positioned to bring a wholesome protein snack to the market that includes high-quality brands that race fans already know and trust.  The convenient, on-the-go packs are made of three highly recognizable Kraft brands: Oscar Mayer Select Meats, Kraft Natural Cheeses and Planters Nuts.  P3 Portable Protein Packs are available nationwide, including at Super Target & Target and can be found in the refrigerated meat case.

·       Ganassi Pit Crews Keeping fit:  The Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates pit crews have continually evolved over the last 14 years that the team has participated in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, becoming a highly skilled and trained group of athletes.  They consist of former college and professional athletes that have played football, baseball, hockey and track and field and come from schools like Kentucky, East Carolina, Appalachian State, Florida and Wake Forest.  They workout just like other professional athletes for the better part of the day with their coach, who was a professional hockey player from Dartmouth.  Fitness is a way of life for these guys, as every second of their job counts.

·       Larson on the Track:  Kyle Larson currently sits 15th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) standings, and has a nine point lead in the Rookie of the Year standings.  In the first seven races of the season, Larson has two top-five finishes and three top-10 finishes in NSCS races.  He also has one win in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS), as well as five other top-five finishes.  Larson has held the lead at some point during five of the first six NNS races this year, and although he is not eligible for points in the Nationwide Series, the No. 42 Cartwheel by Target Chevy Camaro is currently third in the NNS owner standings.

Quote Board:

Kyle Larson, Driver, No. 42 Target Chevrolet SS:

“I had never given a ton of thought to working out or fitness as a driver.  I have come to recognize more and more the importance of fitness in the overall success of a race car driver.  I have been working with Shaun now from the beginning of the year and I am already seeing a difference, and I think the partnership with Oscar Mayer and P3 is a perfect fit.  I have tried P3 and actually have them in my motor coach refrigerator.”

Shaun Peet, Pit Crew and Strength & Conditioning Coach, Target Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates:

“More and more we look to recruit athletes to our pit crews.  When one second on the race track equals about 100 yards it is far easier to see how important every second on pit lane is.  Our guys’ fitness is paramount in making our pit stops fast.  Working with a brand like Oscar Mayer and being able to use their product can certainly help our guys get that little pick-me-up during the races and workouts.”
