Kentucky Still Sparks Sweet Memories for Gilliland

Driver, Love’s and Local Military to Unveil Special Paint Scheme Thursday

STATESVILLE, JUNE 24, 2014 – David Gilliland, driver of the No. 38 Love’s Travel Stops Ford, comments on racing at Kentucky Speedway:”For a long time Kentucky was my favorite racetrack after winning there in the Nationwide Series. But it’s a little different in the Cup car. It’s another racetrack that just seems to get rougher and more abrasive on the tires, and it changes a lot from year to year. It definitely has a lot of character. But I’ve got some great memories from Kentucky from going to Victory Lane.”This will be a special trip because we’re going to unveil our Fourth of July Love’s Travel Stops military salute paint scheme on Thursday at the Love’s next to the racetrack. We’ve invited some local military to actually help us pull the cover off the car, so it’s going to be neat to have them involved and have them represent all of our nation’s military as we thank them with a cool new Love’s paint scheme.”

JUST THE FACTS: Gilliland has three Sprint Cup career starts at Kentucky Speedway … He shocked the racing world with his first Nationwide Series win at the 1.5-mile oval in 2006 in a part-time, unsponsored car … Love’s Travel Stops returns as primary sponsor of the No. 38 Ford at Kentucky … Love’s, Gilliland and local military will unveil a military salute paint scheme for the Daytona race on Thursday at 1pm at the Love’s at 976 Hwy 1039 in Sparta, Ky.

Local military, @DavidGilliland & @LovesTravelStop will unveil a No. 38 military salute paint scheme Thurs at 1pm at the Sparta KY Love’s.
