RAB Racing No. 99 Toyota Care Camry Post Race Report: Daytona Int’l Speedway

Buescher Finishes in 14th-Place at Daytona International Speedway

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 4, 2014) -After a shortened qualifying session due to rain, James Buescher and the No. 99 Toyota Care team lined up in the 18th position for Friday evening’s Subway Firecracker 250 at Daytona International Speedway. Just before the scheduled start time of the 100-lap race, another rainstorm rolled through the Daytona Beach area, delaying the start of the race. After nearly a two-hour delay, the 40-car field started the Subway Firecracker 250. During the first quarter of the 100-lap race, the Texan settled in towards the back of the field to log laps and keep his Toyota Care Camry clean. Buescher started to make his move back towards the front and began logging laps inside the top-10 during the middle portion of the race. Battling a loose-handling Toyota Camry, the Toyota Care team came to Buescher’s aid by making multiple adjustments during their two pit stops. After the team’s second and final pit stop, the RAB Racing team urged the 24-year-old driver to save as much fuel as possible as they felt it was going to be close to making it the scheduled distance. With fewer than 10 scheduled laps remaining, the field was slowed for single-car accident on the front stretch. Restarting in the 16-spot with three laps to go, the field was slowed once again for a multi-car accident on the start. Still close on fuel, Buescher was told to save as much fuel as possible for a possible green-white-checked scenario. Buescher this time restarted in the 11th position on the green-white-checkered restart, and with little room to make a move during the remain couple laps of the race, he brought the No. 99 Toyota Care Camry home in the 14th-place.

James Buescher Quote:
“An up-and-down night for our RAB Racing Toyota Care team. We were able to run solidly up in the top-10 but I was hoping for a better result. I tried a couple different strategies throughout the race, but at the end we just weren’t able to get into the correct position to get us up further in the field. Our RAB Racing team still has some work to do but we’ll continue to chip away at it.”
