Wednesday, February 18, 2015
Greg Biffle, driver of the No. 16 Ortho Ford Fusion, narrowly escaped major damage in a multi-car accident during today’s first practice session at Daytona International Speedway. He spoke about the incident and his plan for tomorrow night’s qualifying race.
GREG BIFFLE – No. 16 Ortho Ford Fusion – WHAT DID YOU SEE WHEN THAT WRECK WAS HAPPENING IN FRONT OF YOU? “That wreck wasn’t in front of me, it was all over me. It was in front of me, behind me, beside me, and then I got hit in the left-rear. I thought the wreck was done and I still got hit. It scared the death out of me because I already wrecked once pretty good and I don’t want to wreck again.”
HOW DO YOU APPROACH THESE PRACTICE SESSIONS? “We feel good about the way our car drafts and does all that, so we’re pretty much done with all that. We’re just gonna work on single car speed. It looks like we’re off two or three tenths on speed compared to the fast cars, so we’re gonna work hard and diligently to see if we can find that little bit of speed left in our Fusion.”
SO WHAT IS YOUR PLAN FOR TOMORROW NIGHT’S QUALIFYING RACE? “We’re gonna go at it and get the best spot we can. The main thing is you want to take care of this 500 car because it’s our best piece, so we’re gonna try to protect it and get the best finish we can.”
HOW EXTENSIVE IS THE DAMAGE FROM THE WRECK? “It’s very light, just some left-rear bumper cover damage, so it’s pretty light.”
