Why Is Elliott Sadler So Excited For 2015?

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 21 2015) – Each driver can say they are excited about the upcoming season, but Elliott Sadler really means it. Sadler made the big announcement in 2014, that he would be leaving Joe Gibbs Racing and race for Roush Fenway Racing in 2015. Obviously this announcement at Texas Motor Speedway last year gained a lot of media attention, but most fans did not know that one of his current sponsors at Joe Gibbs Racing would make the move with him.

More importantly, OneMain Financial announced they were going to step it up and become Sadler’s full-time sponsor for the entire year. Having a loyal sponsor like OneMain Financial stick with Sadler through a team change is huge.

“Words cannot explain how gratifying and fulfilling it is to have OneMain Financial make the move,” said Sadler. “More importantly to make the decision to become my full-time sponsor.”

The other big reason why Sadler is so excited for 2015 is because he will be reunited with his old co-worker Phil Gould. Gould and Sadler worked together when Sadler drove the No. 2 car for Richard Childress Racing in 2012. Gould was the car chief that year and Sadler recorded four wins and finished second in the championship points.

When Sadler made the announcement to move to Roush Fenway Racing, Gould was not too far behind, making his own move from the crew chief of the No. 2 car at RCR to become the new crew chief of the No. 1 OneMain Financial Ford Mustang.

“I was beyond excited when Phil decided to become my crew chief,” said Sadler.

Sadler and his No. 1 OneMain Financial team will certainly enter the 2015 as one of the favorites to win the NASCAR XFINITY Series championship. However, with the stress relief off Sadler’s shoulders from his sponsor making the move with him and being reunited with his now new crew chief, things are already pointed in the right direction for 2015.

Sadler and NASCAR XFINITY Series teams race for the first time today at 3:30pm on FS1.
