CHASTAIN 24TH IN SECOND RACE

HAMPTON, Ga. – Xfinity Series Rookie of the Year candidate Ross Chastain finished 24th Saturday in the Hisense 250 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Chastain started 26th in the Flex Shot Chevrolet entered by JD Motorsports with Gary Keller. It was his second run with JDM after a fine start last week at Daytona International Speedway.

He ran as high as ninth in the 163-lap race, a very fast event with only three caution flags.

“We wanted to get in the top 20, but everything didn’t go like we wanted,” Chastain said. “It was tough out there with so few cautions and little chance to make up deficits. But we got a lot of laps in and got something to build on.”

Chastain is tied for eighth in Xfinity points.

Kevin Harvick won the race, leading 101 laps.

The series moves on to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for a March 7 race.
