CASSILL READY FOR PHOENIX

AVONDALE, Ariz. – After a top 20 last week vaulted him to 15th in the Xfinity Series driver standings, Landon Cassill is ready to take on Phoenix International Raceway in Saturday’s Axalta Faster Tougher Brighter 200.

Cassill has a substantial history at the one-mile track in the Arizona desert near Phoenix. He has raced in the Sprint Cup Series there eight times and in the Xfinity Series six times, scoring one top-10 finish.

“Phoenix is a track where you can get a good finish with the right car,” Cassill said. “You need good handling and a lot of grip there, and you can get momentum off the turns with the right setup. I’m looking forward to testing it again.”

Cassill has finishes of 31, 17 and 20 this season in the G&K Services Chevrolet fielded by JD Motorsports with Gary Keller.

Veteran mechanic Tony Furr will be making his debut working as interim crew chief for the team this weekend.

Practice for the 200 is scheduled at 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. (ET) Friday, with qualifying set for 12:45 p.m. Saturday and the race to follow at 4 p.m.
