Bristol Race Recap…Allgaier returned to one of his favorite race tracks, Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) on Sunday. Allgaier completed three practice sessions in the Auto-Owners Insurance Chevy, and finished sixth in the first session of the weekend. He advanced to the second round of knockout qualifying and earned the 15th starting spot. After rain delayed the start of the Food City 500 in Support of Steve Byrnes, and several red flags were called during the race for rain, Allgaier managed to take the checkered flag in the No. 51 Auto-Owners Insurance Chevy in the eighth position for HScott Motorsports.
Justin Allgaier on Richmond International Raceway:
“We have a lot of momentum going into this weekend at Richmond [International Raceway] after our finish at Bristol [Motor Speedway]. We are really clicking as a team and the guys are building great cars at the shop. I really like the challenge of short tracks, and feel like I’ve improved on them as the years have gone by. After racing at Richmond a couple of times in the Sprint Cup Series, I have a good feeling of what I’m looking for in the car. I really hope to get another top-10 finish this weekend with BRANDT on the car. They’ve supported me for a long time and they certainly deserve it.”
Crew Chief Steve Addington on Richmond International Raceway:
“We’ve gone over our notes for this weekend at Richmond [International Raceway] and have a few different things we want to try during practice. Justin did well in this race last year and didn’t get the finish to show for it. We typically get a lot of late-race restarts at short tracks, so that trend will play into our race strategy.”
