Biffle Leaves Rain-Delayed Richmond Race with a 21st-Place Finish

No. 16 Ortho Ford Fusion Recap:
Biffle Leaves Rain-Delayed Richmond Race with a 21st-Place Finish

RICHMOND, Va. (April 26, 2015) – For the second weekend in a row rain wreaked havoc on a NASCAR Sprint Cup race weekend, unfortunately this time around the race was delayed from a Saturday night race to a Sunday afternoon event.  Biffle started the race 32nd and searched for grip in his No. 16 Ortho Ford over the course of 400 laps.  In his search Biffle went two laps down to the leaders, but made a rebound towards the end to be the first car two laps down.  Biffle was scored 21st when the checkered flag fell.

It seemed as if Biffle and his team had found what they had been missing as they closed out the final practice session on Friday second on the speed charts.  Unfortunately the speed didn’t carry over to qualifying and Biffle was only able to earn a 32nd-place starting position.

Rain came in Saturday morning and stuck around all day without a break in site, forcing NASCAR  to postpone the Saturday night race to 1pm on Sunday.  Biffle advanced a few positions up to 28th in the opening green flag run by the time the “competition caution” came out on lap 50.  The Ortho Ford was a little too tight and Biffle restarted 27th after a four tire pit stop for fuel and a left rear wedge adjustment.

Over the course of another long green flag run Biffle went a lap down to the leaders while searching for grip.  Adjustments for wedge and air all helped with handling, but none were exactly what Biffle needed.  Over the course of the race the No. 16 went two laps down to the field.

Biffle worked his way into being the first car two laps down in the final laps, but the cautions never fell in the teams favor to get back any additional laps.  Biffle left Richmond International Raceway with a 21st-place finish and is currently 21st in the point standings.
