ADVANCE NOTES

Bayne at Talladega

Bayne makes his ninth career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) start at Talladega Superspeedway this weekend.

In eight previous starts at the 2.66-Mile oval, Bayne has recorded one top-10, an eighth-place finish in the spring 2012 event.

According to NASCAR’s loop data statistics, Bayne ranks fifth in green flag speed (193.352 mph), sixth in quality passes (average of 248.6 passes per race) and ninth in speed in traffic (193.344 mph).

In four starts at Talladega in the XFINITY Series, Bayne has recorded two top-10 finishes. Bayne earned his best finish of sixth in the spring 2011 event at the Alabama track.

Bob Osborne at Talladega

Osborne will be atop the pit box for his 17th NSCS event at Talladega on Sunday.  In 16 previous races at the famed superspeedway, Osborne has recorded two top-five finishes and four top-10s, including a best finish of fifth twice with former Roush Fenway Racing driver Carl Edwards in the fall of 2005 and former Roush Fenway driver Jamie McMurray in the spring of 2006.

Recapping Richmond

Bayne began the rain-delayed Sunday afternoon matinee at Richmond International Raceway from the 34th position but was able to race his way into the top 25 despite being trapped off of the lead lap due to an untimely caution during a round of green flag pit stops. Bayne ultimately took the checkered flag in the 24th position.  With the result, Bayne remained 27th in the championship standings.

QUOTE WORTHY

Bayne on racing at Talladega:

“Talladega is intense. You can run three, sometimes four-wide lap after lap. You really need to be on top of your game at all times and stay razor sharp. So I’ve got to make sure to race smart all day long and be there at the end. Hopefully, we can keep our AdvoCare Ford clean for all 188 laps, dodge the wrecks and come home with a victory.”
