Benny Gordon to make NASCAR XFINITY start

(Mooresville, NC – April 29, 2015)  NASCAR XFINITY Driver, Benny Gordon has announced he will make his first start of the 2015 season this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway in the Winn-Dixie 300. Gordon will be driving the #17 VSI – Somerset Regional Water Resources (SRWR) Toyota Camry.

Gordon and Larry Mostoller have teamed up in establishing Performance Energy Group, which is the team supporting Gordon’s race effort this weekend. Mostoller is also the CEO of SRWR, serving as Gordon’s primary marketing partner.

“I’m excited to get back to speedway racing with our new partner, SRWR on board,” says Benny Gordon, who has 18 NASCAR XFINITY Series starts. “Larry (Mostoller) is the most energetic guy towards his business and the racing team we have established together. I’m looking forward to representing SRWR on and off the track this weekend, and promoting Performance Energy Group to the best of our abilities.”

Benny Gordon is no stranger to speedway racing, considering he has made two starts at Daytona Int’l Speedway in the ARCA Racing Series in 2011 and 2014, capturing a top-10 finish. He has also made one start at Daytona’s 2.5 mile track in the NASCAR XFINITY Series during 2012, finishing 12th.

“Our partners SRWR, Frank Varischetti from the Varischetti family, Mona Mitchell from BWP Baseball Bats and Todd Gordon from Staar Trucking are making this race possible, and I couldn’t be more thankful for this opportunity,” says Gordon.

“Howard Bixman [NASCAR and ARCA Crew Chief] will serve as the Crew Chief in Talladega. He has served as my crew chief in the past at Daytona, and I’m looking forward to working with him again this weekend.”

The Winn-Dixie 300 will be broadcasted live on Fox, Saturday, May 2 at 3pm ET. Sirius Channel 90 and MRN Radio will provide live radio coverage of the event. The race weekend will kick off on Friday, May 1 with practice from 11:30am-1:50pm ET. TV coverage of practice is scheduled to play on Fox Sports 1. Qualifying takes place at 11am ET, Saturday, May 2, which will be played on Fox Sports 1.

Owned by Larry Mostoller, SRWR is a multifaceted company that provides a variety of services to the Oil and Natural Gas Industries. SRWR’s mission is to provide environmentally friendly water-related services to Oil and Natural gas companies including the management of water resources and delivery, removal, and treatment of wastewaters.

Varischetti Family (VSI)

The Varischetti family has substantial involvement in many businesses, including Guardian Elder Care Holdings, Inc.; Varischetti and Sons Inc.; Phoenix Sintered Metals, Inc.; and Apple Tractor, Inc. All companies combined employ over 2,000 people. The Varischetti family also has ownership interest in the Pittsburgh Steelers.
