CHASTAIN 25th AT TALLADEGA

TALLADEGA, Ala. – Ross Chastain avoided two huge crashes and brought his Flex Shot/Winn-Dixie Chevrolet home in 25th place in Saturday’s Winn-Dixie 300 Xfinity Series race at Talladega Superspeedway.

Chastain started 38th and moved up the grid slowly. He skillfully drove his way through a pair of late-race crashes that enveloped 10 and seven cars.

“You have to be on top of your game here every lap,” Chastain said. “You can be turned around or into the wall in the blink of an eye. We were lucky to get through the messes and get the car home in good shape.”

The race was Chastain’s first in the Xfinity Series at Talladega. Through nine races, he is 14th in driver points.

Sprint Cup driver Joey Logano won the race by turning back several contenders on the final lap. Ty Dillon ran eighth despite being involved in two crashes and kept the point lead.
The series races next at Iowa Speedway May 17.
