ADVANCE NOTES

Bayne at Kansas

Bayne makes his second career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) start at Kansas Speedway on Saturday night.

In one previous NSCS start at the 1.5-mile oval, Bayne started from the 32nd position and earned a 21st-place finish in Oct. 2012.

In four starts at Kansas in the XFINITY Series, Bayne has recorded three top-10 finishes, with a best finish of eighth in the Oct. 2014 event.

Bob Osborne at Kansas

Osborne will call his 11th NSCS race at Kansas Speedway this weekend. In 10 previous starts at the 1.5-mile oval, Osborne has recorded four top-five and seven top-10 finishes and has an average finish of 14.1. Osborne’s best finish of second came in the Sept. 2008 event with former Roush Fenway Racing driver Carl Edwards.

Recapping Talladega

Bayne took the green flag on Sunday afternoon at Talladega Superspeedway from the 26th position, but quickly worked his way through the draft and into the top five in the early stages of the 188-Lap event. Then, while racing for position three-wide, Bayne’s Ford got sideways and was ultimately collected in a multi-car incident, ending his afternoon early. Bayne was scored with a 41st-place finish.

QUOTE WORTHY

Bayne on racing at Kansas:

“Kansas is a fast and pretty challenging track since the repave here. I’m ready to get there this weekend with this AdvoCare Ford that (crew chief) Bob (Osborne) and all the guys back at the shop have been working on all week and give it everything we’ve got. Hopefully come night’s end on Saturday we’ll have a strong finish.”
