ADVANCE NOTES
Reed at Iowa Speedway
Reed has three starts in the NASCAR XFINITY Series at Iowa Speedway. Earlier this season, Reed finished 12th after starting 16th for the 250-lap event. Reed made his way into the top 10 in the closing laps, before an untimely caution left him with old tires on the final restart.
In 2014, Reed recorded 16th- and 15th-place finishes in the two events at the .875-mile oval.
Reed also has one start in the ARCA Racing Series at Iowa, which came in July 2012. Reed finished in the ninth position after starting third.
Riding with Ryan
American Diabetes Association® Youth Ambassador Kolsie Bixler of Lisbon, Iowa will have her name featured on a decal above the passenger-side door on the No. 16 Ford Mustang this weekend at NHMS. Like Reed, Bixler lives with type 1 diabetes and knows the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. She participates in the American Diabetes Association® of Cedar Rapids’ Tour De Cure® cycling event as a Red Rider. Red Riders are children or adults living with diabetes who showcase the courage it takes to live with the disease by riding in the event. She also participates in the American Diabetes Association Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes®. In 2015, she raised over $2,000 for the walk and was named a Champion to Stop Diabetes.
Indianapolis Recap
Reed finished 20th in the Lilly Diabetes 250 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway this past Saturday after fighting the handling of his No. 16 Lilly Diabetes American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang for most of the race.
2015 Season
Reed is currently 10th in the NASCAR XFINITY Series championship standings after one win and 12 top-15 finishes. He is the leading closer in the NASCAR XFINITY Series, improving a total of 31 positions in the last 10 percent of this season’s races. Reed and teammate Chris Buescher are the only XFINITY Series regulars to win a race so far this season.
Reed on Iowa
“I’m excited to get back to short-track racing this weekend at Iowa Speedway. I feel like it’s a place we can really rebound and start recording the top-10 finishes we need. With Chris (Buescher) getting the win there in May, it’s obvious RFR has what it takes to be competitive at this track and bring home another victory.”
Tune-in
Reed and the rest of the NASCAR XFINITY Series will take the green flag from Iowa Speedway on Saturday, August 1 at 7 p.m. CDT on NBC Sports Network and MRN.
