CONCORD, N.C. -- Kurt Busch drove his No. 41 Monster Energy/Haas Automation Chevrolet to the top of the speed charts in the second NASCAR Sprint Cup practice, held Saturday morning at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The Stewart-Haas Racing driver ran a 28.002 lap at 192.843 mph. Busch holds the track qualifying record of 198.771 mph, a 27.167 seconds lap, set on Oct. 9, 2014.

This year the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race has been revamped to create an atmosphere that will promote more competitive racing as the drivers battle for a $1 million prize. The All-Star event will be held on May 21 at 9 p.m. ET at Charlotte Motor Speedway and will consist of three segments for a total of 113 laps.

“I think with my experience in the Cup Series for the last two years, these nine races, I have to go win some. I have to prove that I should be here and I think winning means that.”
