Tony Stewart Signs First Flag for “Express Your Thanks” Program to Benefit Wounded Warrior Project at Bank of America 500

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Tony Stewart joined officials from Charlotte Motor Speedway and Bank of America to kick off the “Express Your Thanks” flag program to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. Fans attending the Oct. 13 Bank of America 500 can sign a flag with a message of support for the U.S. Armed Forces that will be displayed during the race in a giant flag mosaic. For each flag that is signed, the Bank of America Charitable Foundation will donate $1 to the Wounded Warrior Project, up to $250,000.

NASCAR Reinstates Driver AJ Allmendinger

NASCAR has reinstated driver AJ Allmendinger upon his successful completion of NASCAR’s Substance Abuse Policy Road to Recovery Program. Allmendinger had been indefinitely suspended from NASCAR on July 24 for violating the sanctioning body’s substance abuse policy.

It seems like you’re always fighting for position there because the track is so narrow that it’s difficult to pass, so we really rely on good pit stops to help gain positions. Loudon has been a place that I’ve struggled at but our goal is to get a good clean run on Sunday in order to make up some of our position in the point standings that we lost last weekend at Chicago.”

Greg Biffle, driver of the No. 16 3M Ford Fusion, led the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series standings for 15 weeks and was on top when the 26-race regular-season came to a close at Richmond two weeks ago. As the series heads to New Hampshire Motor Speedway this weekend, Biffle finds himself eighth in the Chase standings after a 13th-place finish at Chicagoland Speedway Sunday. He spoke to the media as part of NASCAR’s weekly teleconference on Tuesday afternoon.
