National Guard extends sponsorship of Hendrick Motorsports

The Army National Guard will continue as a primary sponsor of the No. 88 Sprint Cup Series team and driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. after extending its relationship with Hendrick Motorsports through the 2013 NASCAR season. The National Guard will receive primary paint schemes in 20 Sprint Cup races, including the 2013 Daytona 500, and prominent brand placement during all non-primary events.

Kentucky Speedway Seeks Enthusiastic Fan Council Applicants

Kentucky Speedway is seeking 15 race enthusiasts to found a Fan Council. Selected members will work directly with the speedway management team to brainstorm, discuss, debate and focus on ideas that will enhance the speedway guest experience. Discussions will be conducted throughout the year by either conference call, e-mail, survey or meetings at the 107,000-capacity speedway.

Montreal Preview: The FedEx Racing colors will return to Canada this weekend for Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. Joe Gibbs Racing driver Michael McDowell will pilot the #18 FedEx Express Toyota in the 74-lap, 200-mile event on the 2.7-mile permanent street course. McDowell -- a Phoenix native -- has recorded four top-10 finishes in four Nationwide starts this season, including a season-best runner-up result at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis., in June. McDowell is making his fourth Series start at Montreal on Saturday. His best finish of third came in last season’s event after starting fifth.
