“We learned a lot last year at Watkins Glen, and for me the seat time at the road courses is so valuable. I felt like we had a decent run going on at Sonoma earlier this year, so hopefully that will help this weekend. Pit strategy and track position are key at Watkins Glen, so we will have a plan heading into Sunday and hopefully leave there with a top-10 finish.”

McMurray at The Glen: McMurray has made 11 previous starts at Watkins Glen. He has one top-five, two top-ten finishes and has led 13 laps. McMurray has an average starting position of 15.5 and an average finish of 19.5. He has completed 895 of 994 (90%) laps of competition. His best qualifying result was a front row start from the second position in 2010 and a best finish of third in 2006.

Watkins Glen Preview: The Series heads to Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International for Sunday’s 90-lap event on the 2.45-mile, 11-turn road course. Hamlin has four-career top-10 finishes in eight starts at The Glen, with a runner-up result in his second trip to the track in 2007. Hamlin started 20th and finished 19th at Watkins Glen one year ago.

High hopes: “The No. 47 SCOTT Products Chevrolet SS team is on a mission this weekend at Watkins Glen International,” crew chief Brian Burns said. “Obviously, with our driver we have focused on the two road courses. We had a car that could have won Sonoma Raceway.

Kevin Harvick and the No. 4 Budweiser Chevrolet SS team travel to Watkins Glen International (WGI) this weekend to compete in the Cheez-It 355 at The Glen NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS).

Dale Earnhardt Jr is having a rather pleasant season thus far. On Sunday, he swept the season series at Pocono, upped his count to three wins this term, tops the standings, and is second only to Jeff Gordon in accumulated points. No bad at all.

This weekend the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series travels to the second and final road course of the season at Watkins Glen International.

“Road racing presents a tough set of scenarios. You have to be careful with the gear box, the braking and staying on the race track. So those are three challenges of road racing to start with. I like Watkins Glen and I’ve been fairly successful there, even won in the trucks and had some good finishes. I like that track and I’m looking forward to this weekend.”

Randy Humphrey Racing announced today that Nelson Piquet Jr., the first Brazilian to win in two of NASCAR's top-three national series, will pilot the No. 77 WORX Yard Tools Ford Fusion for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Watkins Glen International this weekend. The Cheez-It 355 at The Glen marks the 29-year-old's first attempt to race in NASCAR's premier series.

When Marcos Ambrose won at Watkins Glen International in 2012 he became only the fourth driver in NASCAR Sprint Cup history to post victories in back-to-back years. Mark Martin, Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart are the others.
