NASCAR Cup Series

Eric McClure will make a return to NASCAR's Sprint Cup Series, joining Front Row Motorsports for the season-opening Daytona 500 in the No. 35 Ford Fusion. The veteran driver will carry the support of Hefty®/Reynolds Wrap® as primary sponsor in what would be his first start in "The Great American Race."

Roush Fenway Racing kicked off the third day of the Charlotte Media Tour with all of its NASCAR Nationwide and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers. Following is a transcript of their on-stage remarks:

The U.S. Air Force will once again join Richard Petty Motorsports and the iconic No. 43 Ford as a vehicle to connect with America's best young adults for the sixth consecutive season.

Step aside superstitions. Nationwide Insurance has finalized its 2014 sponsorship of Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series beginning with season opening events at Daytona International Speedway. Nationwide’s primary sponsorship of Stenhouse in the No. 17 Nationwide Insurance Ford Fusion includes seven races, while maintaining its associate sponsor status for the balance of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season.

Day two of the Charlotte Motor Speedway Media Tour presented by Sprint was Chevrolet Day. The NASCAR media met with Chip Ganassi Racing, Richard Childress Racing, Furniture Row Racing, and Hendrick Motorsports. First was Chip Ganassi Racing, newly renamed for this season. It was formerly known as Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing.

The final two stops on day two of the tour featured Furniture Row Racing and Hendrick Motorsports. Furniture Row found its most success last season with Kurt Busch in the driver’s seat, but Busch has been replaced by Martin Truex, Jr., who piloted a Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota in 2013.

University of Tennessee fans took advantage of the opportunity to be part of college football’s biggest game ever, as The University of Tennessee department of athletics today announced all of the school’s initial ticket allotment has been reserved for the Battle at Bristol, between UT and Virginia Tech, Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

When Stewart-Haas Racing announced that they were expanding to four cars in 2014 with Tony Stewart, Kevin Harvick, Kurt Busch and Danica Patrick, the media immediately predicted that things would go crazy. Though so far, those predictions are false as Busch says that they're all getting along and can easily understanding each other.
