NASCAR Cup Series

Homestead-Miami Speedway is one of the few race tracks where team owner Richard Childress has yet to earn a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series victory. Richard Childress Racing entries have finished second on three occasions: 2003 (Kevin Harvick), 2008 (Harvick) and 2009 (Jeff Burton). In 40 starts, RCR has earned seven top-five and 19 top-10 finishes at the 1.5-mile, progressively-banked oval with drivers Dave Blaney, Clint Bowyer, Burton, Dale Earnhardt, Jeff Green, Harvick and Mike Skinner. Kansas Speedway, Kentucky Speedway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway are the other tracks on the current Sprint Cup Series schedule where RCR is still on the hunt for hardware.

At the Beyond Sport Summit in London, in the days leading up to the Summer Olympics, NASCAR Chairman and CEO Brian France spoke passionately about his sport’s efforts to drive sustainable behavior amongst millions of fans through the NASCAR Green platform. Today, he joined National Basketball Association (NBA) Commissioner David Stern on a panel at Yankee Stadium entitled Beyond Sport United: Sports Teams for Social Change.

James Buescher and the No. 31 Great Clips Turner Motorsports team will head down to Homestead-Miami Speedway looking to close out the 2012 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) as champions! Buescher enters this week’s race with a total of 777 points. Buescher and the No. 31 team will need to finish seventh or better to clinch Turner Motorsports’ first ever NASCAR championship.

Dakoda Armstrong will make his first career NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) start at the 1.5-mile oval of Homestead-Miami Speedway. Armstrong, who has come up through the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) has 22 career starts in NCWTS. Dakoda has one top-five, two top-10’s and an average finish of 17th in his two years of racing in the NASCAR ranks.

Miguel Paludo and the No. 32 Duroline Brakes and Components team head to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Paludo has two previous starts at the 1.5-mile Florida oval. In his two prior visits, Paludo has earned one top-10 finish, a best finish of ninth and one DNF due to an engine failure.

Like everyone else, Max Gresham was enthralled by the way last Sunday's race ended at the Phoenix International Raceway, with big wrecks, a fight and a lot of controversy surrounding the finish.

Allgaier's Comeback Tour: The Final Chapter - After making up nine points on fifth place two weeks ago in Texas, Justin Allgaier and the BRANDT team unfortunately took a step away from their goal in Phoenix with an 11th-place finish, setting them back seven markers. Now, it's down to the season-ending race for Allgaier and crew to make up the deficit, and cement themselves as a top-five finisher in the NASCAR Nationwide Series point standings. In the situation of a tie at the conclusion of the 200-lap event at Homestead-Miami, Allgaier would be credited with the fifth-place finish due to his win in Montreal earlier in the season.

NASCAR today announced the 2013 schedule for the NASCAR Nationwide Series, a lineup that includes a trip to Mid-Ohio for the first time in series history.
