JIMMIE JOHNSON, NO. 48 LOWE’S/KOBALT TOOLS CHEVROLET, met members of the media at Atlanta Motor Speedway and discussed last week’s race and coming into Atlanta this weekend, what the team is willing to do to help teammates Kasey Kahne and Jeff Gordon get into the Chase, who he thinks is a threat in the Chase at this point of the season and much more.

Carl Edwards comes into this weekend’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway needing a win to help his chances at making the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. The good news for Edwards is that he has three series victories at AMS, including the first of his career in 2005. In fact, Edwards swept both races that season and then captured the fall event in 2008.

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) will make a stop at Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend. Dave Blaney will pilot the Tommy Baldwin Racing (TBR) No. 36 Chevrolet in the AdvoCare 500.

Things have been quiet around these parts lately. Some by choice, a little by outside factors which took away time normally devoted to breaking down the latest NASCAR news. But, I haven’t been completely cut off from the racing world. The races were watched, dissected and discussed. And it was during that quiet time, removed from the journalism side, that viewing racing from a different perspective brought forth many thoughts.

Call it whatever you want but the Bristol Motor Speedway has a new surface with different racing we’ve never seen before at Bristol. Some people are referring to the new surface as a return to the “old Bristol” which featured one lane racing on the bottom and beating and banging.

Willie and Korie Robertson from the hit A&E series “Duck Dynasty” will be appearing at the Talladega Experience—the ultimate fan hospitality area at Talladega Superspeedway – on Sunday, Oct. 7. The reality TV stars will host a Q and A session prior to the Good Sam Roadside Assistance 500 and sign autographs for Talladega Experience fans.

It’s understandable that Atlanta Motor Speedway is one of Eddie Wood’s favorite race tracks. His family’s team leads all others with twelve Atlanta victories and has nine poles and 33 top-five finishes in 101 starts.
