NASCAR Cup Series

Aric Almirola, driver of the No. 43 Ford Fusion for Richard Petty Motorsports was the subject of the weekly NASCAR Teleconference Tuesday afternoon (July 3) in advance of this weekend’s race at Daytona International Speedway.

The 100-degree temperatures expected at Daytona this weekend means NASCAR Sprint Cup Series crew members will begin preparing for the extreme conditions several days before arriving at the track. Michael Waltrip Racing’s trainers have crew members focused on hydration this week.

Each year media giant ESPN hosts the ESPY Awards (Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly), which recognize individual and team athletic achievement and other sports-related performance.

Bad Boy Buggies has teamed up with Atlanta Motor Speedway to sponsor the speedway’s pre-race concert. Now known as the Fast Cars & Guitars Pre-Race Concert featuring Montgomery Gentry, presented by Bad Boy Buggies is slated for Sunday, Sept. 2, prior to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series AdvoCare 500.

EGR at Daytona: EGR has 57 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) starts at Daytona International Speedway (DIS), boasting one win with Jamie McMurray in the 2010 Daytona 500.

Dodge swept the pole for both races (Bill Elliott – Daytona 500 and Sterling Marlin – Firecracker 400) in 2001, the year the manufacturer returned to NASCAR’s premier series.

No. 55 Aaron’s Dream Machine driver Michael Waltrip makes his third 2012 start Saturday night in the 400-mile NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Daytona International Speedway.

Biffle on racing at Daytona: “We never know what to expect from Daytona until we get there. We’ll have to see how the temperature is, how much grip the track has, see what the ambient temp is, water temp, all plays a factor into how long we can push and what kind of speeds the car has under those conditions."

Richard Childress Racing Rocks Daytona ... Dating back to 1986, RCR has won seven poles and owns 30 total victories at the most storied race track on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series circuit.
