NASCAR Cup Series

Roush Fenway Racing heads north to that 8-Mile road and the home of Ford Motor Company for the first of two trips within a two-month span as the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) and NASCAR Xfinity series both hit the 2.0-mile track this weekend.

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series head to Michigan International Speedway this weekend, while the Camping World Truck Series is at Texas Motor Speedway. Check out the full schedule below, subject to change.

Paul Menard and the No. 21 Menards/Jack Links Ford team head to Michigan hoping for a strong performance at the home track of Ford Motor Company and a home track of sorts for Menard.

Another weekend. Another race. Another track that does not excite me. Welcome to NASCAR. Michigan International Speedway, located in the lush, rolling Irish Hills, is about 40 miles southwest of Ann Arbor. The fact it is considered a sister track of Texas, and the basis of the facility in Fontana does not exactly thrill anyone, but they do go fast there.

Kenseth is a three-time winner at the 2-mile speedway, including most recently in 2015, as well as 2002 and 2006. He has 20 top-10 and 14 top-five finishes along with one career pole (2015).

Stenhouse Jr. at Michigan International Speedway. Stenhouse Jr. has ten Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) starts at Michigan International Speedway with an average starting position of 21.3 and average finishing position of 21.0.

Richard Childress Racing at Michigan International Speedway ... In 167 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series starts at Michigan International Speedway, RCR teams have earned three wins, two with Dale Earnhardt (1987, 1990) and one with Kevin Harvick (August 2010). Additionally, RCR has claimed 24 top-five and 57 top-10 finishes with 10 different drivers including Richard Childress, a former driver in NASCAR's top division, who recorded top-10 finishes at MIS in June 1978 and August 1979.

Martin Truex, Jr.: Truex pulled away on a restart with seven laps to go and held off Kyle Larson to win the Pocono 400.

In 2013, Michigan International Speedway (MIS) began the tradition of honoring the winning manufacturer of each MIS race with a special trophy, the Michigan Heritage Trophy. Since the inception of the award, Chevrolet has earned six wins at MIS and has earned the prestigious award more times than any other manufacturer.

Chase Elliott on racing at Michigan: “Michigan has been a good track for me and my team. I don’t really know why, but I think a lot of that has been really circumstantial with our performance at that point in time. I am looking forward to getting back and hopefully giving it a good run.”
