Hot 20 – It is a Talladega Sunday. What more do you need to know?

Welcome to Talladega, the most entertaining race track in NASCAR. We watch something you and I haven’t got the guts to do, or just maybe we have enough brains not to. Fender to fender, side by side at 200 mph, and you sit in wonder that they have not wrecked yet. When they do wreck, something considered more of an eventuality than anything else, it often is spectacular.

CHEVY MENCS AT TALLADEGA 1: Team Chevy Advance

Did you know? Talladega Superspeedway is one of six tracks on the current Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) schedule where Chevrolet has 40 or more victories. Chevrolet eclipsed the 40-win mark at the 2.66-mile superspeedway when Dale Earnhardt, Jr. took his Chevrolet SS to victory in May of 2015. Chevrolet leads all other manufacturers with exactly 40 wins at Talladega.

Weather has plagued the NASCAR schedule from Atlanta to Martinsville to Bristol. This weather shows no weather concerns with sunny skies and warmth at Talladega. That’s good news for race fans whether heading to the race or watching on television.

Trevor Bayne – Talladega Advance

Trevor Bayne will make his 15th Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) start at Talladega this weekend. In 14 previous starts at the 2.66-Mile Superspeedway, Bayne has a career best finish of third, which came in last fall’s event. He also has two additional top-10s in Alabama, a 10th-place result in the 2016 spring race, and an eighth-place result in the spring of 2012.

Paul Menard, driver of the No. 21 Motorcraft Ford Fusion, talks about the upcoming Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. The Wood Brothers Racing driver currently sits 18th in MENSC Driver Points heading into the Geico 500.
