Multiple late race restarts and short runs allowed Chase Elliott to drive his No. 9 Napa Auto Parts Camaro ZL1 to a runner-up finish at Richmond Raceway, the ninth race of the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season. The run is the eighth second-place finish of Elliott’s career as he continues his quest to capture his first Cup Series victory. The effort marked the 22-year-old driver’s second top 10 finish in six races at Richmond, and fourth top 10 finish thus far this season.

JOEY LOGANO, No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil Ford Fusion - Finishing Position: 4th "You know, we had a really good Shell Pennzoil Ford early in the race and got a couple stage wins early which was great. We maxed out those points which is awesome. We just lost the handle on the car and fell back to sixth or so."

KYLE BUSCH, No. 18 M&M’s Flavor Vote Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing - Finishing Position: 1st - What does it feel like to be in victory lane for your third consecutive time? “All these guys – everybody on this whole M&M Camry, they do a great job for me. I can’t say enough about Adam Stevens (crew chief) and my guys and the pit crew tonight. They won this race for us. They got us off pit road first those last two times that we came down for tires and got us where we needed to be."

CHASE ELLIOTT, NO. 9 NAPA AUTO PARTS CAMARO ZL1 – Finished 2nd - YOU SURVIVED A NIGHT WITH A BUNCH OF CRAZY RESTARTS: “Yeah, it wasn’t pretty for sure. We had a big fight from our Napa Auto Parts and Napa Brakes team tonight. Just we have a lot of work to do I still feel like to get to have the speed that we need and the car driving like we want it to or like I want it to at least. But our restarts fell into our hands there at the end having short runs kind of played into our favor and was able to move forward because of that. So, circumstances were on our side tonight, which is not normal, so I’m happy about that.”

Kyle Busch scored his third straight victory of the year winning the Toyota Owners 400 in overtime at Richmond Raceway Saturday night. He dominated the field in the closing 30 laps of the race to capture his 46th career Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series win.

RICHMOND, Va. – After a dismal two weeks that saw the No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Toyota of reigning Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion Martin Truex Jr. crash out of races at Texas and Bristol, Truex found a welcome stroke of success on Friday at Richmond Raceway.

RICKY STENHOUSE JR., No. 17 Fifth Third Bank Ford Fusion – “We qualified good here last year and we struggled a little bit in practice with the fire-off speed and felt OK maybe on the long run. We definitely need to be better on the long run, but for qualifying we found the speed that we were looking for in qualifying trim. It was a bummer, I feel like we missed it just a little bit there in the last round. The first round we only had to make two laps, and saved a lap on our tires versus a lot of the other cars. I think that helped for second round, and then I think we just missed it a little bit there the last round and ended up 12th. But I thought it would have been awesome to stay in that seventh, eighth-place, but we’ll take 12th and it’s always nice to have good track position here. Now we’ll just see how it goes.”

Chase Elliott drove his No. 9 Napa Auto Parts Camaro ZL1 to a front row starting spot in today’s knockout-style qualifying session for tomorrow night’s Toyota Owners 400 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Richmond Raceway. Elliott turned a lap of 136.643 mph, 26.346 seconds to capture his fourth top-10 start of the season and his second in six races at Richmond.

CHASE ELLIOTT, NO. 9 NAPA AUTO PARTS CAMARO ZL1 – Qualified 2nd - HOW WAS YOUR CAR IN PRACTICE THROUGH RACE RUNS? “Yeah, I thought it was much improved from where we have been. You’ve got to take the small victories every now and then in life and especially in the racing world. We are just trying to take those right now. A much better Friday than we have been having. This has been a ridiculous stretch of races for me and our team. We have just been struggling and kind of being at the wrong place at the wrong time. We have had fast cars at times, just hasn’t seemed to work out. I typically don’t qualify very good, so I’m happy we could have a good qualifying effort and hopefully, our car in race trim is one spot better.”

DENNY HAMLIN, No. 11 FedEx Ground Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing - What does it mean to come and race close to home with the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown last night? “Last night was a great success. We had such a great turnout. They were able to put in temporary grandstands, and that was a good thing, anytime you can fill up a race track like that. Obviously great competition with myself and Kyle (Busch) and some of the other Late Model stars. Great battle all night and had a fun night. Raised some good money for charity, going to continue to want to build that event to be a big one for those guys going forward.”
