The 600 Miles of Remembrance, during the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, honors service men and women who bravely served and died defending our country. This Memorial Day weekend, the No. 47 Chevrolet SS team is humbled to honor Specialist Douglas J. Green by displaying his name on AJ Allmendinger’s windshield.

Racing legend Jack Roush will receive the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Foundation’s Industry Leadership Award at its annual celebration tonight in Detroit.

The longest race of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season is scheduled for Sunday when the annual Coca-Cola 600 takes place at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Ford, which has won five of the first 11 races this season, will be looking for its first victory in the 600 since Mark Martin won it in 2002. Richard Childress Racing's Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series history at Charlotte Motor Speedway ... In 157 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series starts at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Richard Childress Racing teams have earned seven points-paying victories (four wins with Dale Earnhardt, one with Jeff Burton and two with Kevin Harvick) and four All-Star race victories (three with Earnhardt and one with Harvick), giving RCR 11 total Cup Series checkered flags at the Concord, N.C.-based track. RCR boasts 22 top-five and 50 top-10 finishes at the 1.5-mile track. Childress, a former driver on NASCAR's senior circuit, contributed two of those top-10 finishes from 1978 to 1979. The Welcome, N.C. organization has led a combined 1,149 laps at the Charlotte facility.

For the third consecutive year, windshield headers on all 40 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series™ cars will be replaced with the names of fallen military service members during Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway (6 p.m. ET on FOX, PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio), NASCAR announced today.

Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing and Wood Brothers Racing are honoring the team’s 1987 Coca-Cola 600-winning Ford Thunderbird at this year’s Bojangles’ Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. The throwback paint scheme was revealed during today’s episode of “NASCAR America” on NBCSN.

Roush Fenway Racing heads into the season’s longest race of the year on a decided upswing from last season. With 11 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series points races in the books, the team carries an average finish of 14.8, up four positons from the team’s average finish in 2016. In addition, Ricky Stenhouse Jr.’s victory two weeks ago at Talladega Superspeedway all but assures that Roush Fenway will return to the playoffs in 2017.

The stars would come out at Charlotte on Saturday night. Well, some of them. Twenty drivers would make up the field, but we knew that the Top 20 on the season would be missing at least a couple of performers.

2nd Lt. John C. Yates, whose name will grace the windshield of Martin Truex Jr.’s race car during Sunday night’s Memorial Day weekend classic – the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway – was an exemplary Marine who portrayed courage, unselfishness, leadership and patriotism while serving three tours of duty during the Vietnam War.
