NASCAR Cup Series

Kyle Larson, driver of the No. 42 Target Chevrolet SS, captured his first NASCAR Sprint Cup career victory by winning the Pure Michigan 400 at the ultra-fast Michigan International Speedway (MIS). It was his first win in 99 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races, and his third top-10 finish in six races at MIS. Larson led 41 of the 200-lap/400-mile contest and clinched a spot in the upcoming 10-race Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.

Asked what he needed on the last few laps to have gotten the win, Chase Elliott said he just needed "a better restart."

Martin Truex Jr. started 14th in Sunday’s Sprint Cup Series race and by Lap 58 of 200 he vaulted into the lead. He went on to lead seven consecutive laps at Michigan International Speedway before coming down pit road for a routine four-tire green flag stop.

After two and a half years, Kyle Larson finally made his way into victory lane in the Sprint Cup Series with a win in the Irish Hills of Michigan.

Camry driver Carl Edwards (seventh) was the top-finishing Toyota driver in Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) race at Michigan International Speedway.

Ryan Blaney and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team overcame an early race tire problem and finished a strong fourth in the Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway this afternoon.
