Frodo and Sam live. Shane kills the bad men. Cinderella gets the slipper and the fella. Tony Stewart wins at Sonoma. It was a fairytale end to the action, but on that last lap it looked like Cujo was going to win the day and break our hearts.

Tony Stewart made an epic last-lap pass in his No. 14 Code 3 Associates/Mobil 1 Chevrolet SS to claim his 49th career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series victory and third triumph at Sonoma Raceway in today’s Toyota Save Mart 350. It has been 110 races, 84 in which Stewart has competed, since the Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) co-owner last visited Victory Lane at Dover in October 2013.

Stewart has always been strong on the road courses, leading all active drivers with eight wins at Sonoma and Watkins Glen, so his win there isn't exactly a surprise, especially on the heels of a strong seventh-place run at Michigan.

Martin Truex Jr. called it a good day after his fifth-place finish in Sunday’s Toyota/Save Mart 350, the first of two scheduled road races of the season.

After about losing the race running wide in turn 7a on the final lap, Tony Stewart capitalized on Denny Hamlin locking up in Turn 11, made contact with him, hit the wall and scored the victory at Sonoma. The driver of the No. 14 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet snapped an 84-race winless streak as he won the Toyota/Save Mart 350.

Ryan Blaney drove the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Fusion from his 26th starting position to a 23rd-place flinish this afternoon at the challenging Sonoma Raceway road course.

Camry driver Denny Hamlin (second) was the top-finishing Toyota in Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway to claim his career-best finish at the 11-turn road course.
