NASCAR Cup Series

There are only two things to watch for in Michigan on Sunday. One is the ride of Kyle Busch and the other is the car that crosses the line first.

Should a Chevrolet SS drive to victory this weekend at MIS, the Bowtie brand will celebrate its 750th NASCAR Sprint Cup Series win. A Chevrolet has won 23 of 92 races at MIS, including the last three and has claimed the pole award in each of the previous three races

Four NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) races remain before the 10-race Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup begins and five Camry drivers currently stand to secure one of 16 entries into the championship hunt. Matt Kenseth (wins at Bristol and Pocono), Carl Edwards (Charlotte) and Denny Hamlin (Martinsville) have each clinched a spot by virtue of regular season race wins.

It was with the Woods that Baker got both the final win and the final pole of his career. Win No. 19 came in the Firecracker 400 at Daytona in 1983, and his final pole came the next year at Atlanta Motor Speedway, where Baker remains tied with Ryan Newman as the track’s all-time pole winner.

On Aug. 17 of last year, Jeff Gordon led 68 laps from the pole position en route to victory at Michigan International Speedway. It was his third of four wins in 2014 and his 91st career Sprint Cup victory.

Bayne will make his 10th NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) start at Michigan this weekend.

Pure Michigan announced the results of the Pure Michigan 400 Honorary Starter Contest today, naming Kyle Brow of Vassar, Mich. as the 2015 Pure Michigan 400 Honorary Starter. Michael Harris, Executive Director of Paralyzed Veterans of America Michigan Chapter, has been named 2015 Pure Michigan 400 Grand Marshal.
