Erik Jones met with media via teleconference to discuss the recent announcement that he will be joining Richard Petty Motorsports in 2021 as the driver of the No. 43 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE in the NASCAR Cup Series.

The Lone Star State is the next stop on the NASCAR circuit, a track where Jack Roush has amassed 18 wins, including nine in the NCS. This race marks a return trip home for Chris Buescher, a native of nearby Prosper, Texas, who is coming off a 19th-place run in the spring.

It’s crunch time for the NASCAR teams with just three races to go this season. All three national series take on Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday and Sunday, while the ARCA Menards Series West is back on track this weekend with a doubleheader.

Newman will make his 35th Cup start at Texas this weekend. In 34 prior starts, Newman has an average finish of 18.4 with one win, three top five and six top-10 finishes.

Stewart-Haas Racing announced this morning that Ford Performance development driver Chase Briscoe will replace Clint Bowyer as driver of the No. 14 HighPoint.com Ford Mustang in the NASCAR Cup Series for the 2021 season.

Buescher will make his 11th Cup start at Texas on Sunday, where he has an average finish of 21.8. Dating back five years, Buescher has a best finish of 15th, which came in the spring of 2018.
