In 165 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series starts at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Richard Childress Racing teams have earned eight points-paying victories (four wins with Dale Earnhardt, one with Jeff Burton, two with Kevin Harvick and one with Austin Dillon) and four All-Star race victories (three with Earnhardt and one with Harvick), giving RCR 12 total Cup Series checkered flags at the Concord, N.C.-based track. RCR boasts 23 top-five and 52 top-10 finishes at the 1.5-mile track. Childress, a former driver on NASCAR's senior circuit, contributed two of those top-10 finishes from 1978 to 1979. The Welcome, N.C. organization has led a combined 1,156 laps at the Charlotte facility.

I think there is an opportunity to be a really fast car and I think we are going to have really good equipment, but it is so easy to step over that line and wreck because the track is going to be so tricky."

Ryan Reed, No. 16 Drive Down A1C Lilly Diabetes Ford Mustang - Finished 10th “Obviously our practice sessions weren’t very good and then for the first round of qualifying I thought we were better than the second round and it turns out one of the track bar bolts came loose. So we had to start in the back because we had to fix that before the race. We fought all night. The balance was up and down. There were points where we felt real good. We got a good break there on the second to last restart and got some good track position and held on to it right there. We definitely recovered and got the car better but we need to bring more speed. I think a top-10 makes us somewhat of a contender but if we are going to make any kind of a deep run we need to do better than that.”

The NASCAR Xfinity Series held their first race of the championship Playoffs at Richmond International Raceway Saturday night for the Go Bowling 250, and one driver got one step closer to the championship trophy.

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series will be in action at Richmond Raceway while the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is off. NASCAR today announced that Steve Phelps has been named NASCAR President, effective October 1, 2018. Brent Dewar has elected to step down and will remain with the company through the end of the 2018 racing season, transitioning to a senior consulting and advisory role in 2019.

Brad Keselowski earned his third consecutive win Sunday in Las Vegas and, also for the third consecutive time, hoisted the trophy without leading the most laps. His No. 2 Team Penske Ford team has obviously figured out how to be out front when it matters most. In the last five races, he’s had three victories and a runner-up at Michigan.

Majeski at Richmond “I’ve never raced at Richmond, but I tested there. Richmond is one track that I have a lot of laps on iRacing, so I felt like I’d been there before when I showed up for the test. I feel like I know the track well, it’s a short track and right in my wheel house. Ryan (Reed) had a good run there in the spring, so I feel like we have a good base line setup and we learned a lot at the test, which will be beneficial. We know what we need to do and I’m looking forward to getting on track Friday.”
