NASCAR O'Reilly Series

Although still a relative newcomer to NASCAR racing, Harrison Rhodes will sign in at Iowa Speedway this weekend as a veteran of sorts. Rhodes has raced in four Xfinity Series events at the seven-eighths mile track.

Garrett Smithley will make his third Xfinity Series start at Iowa Speedway in Saturday’s American Ethanol E15 250. The seven-eighths mile track usually hosts tight races for the Xfinity Series.

The Xfinity Series schedule stretches from coast to coast, but Ross Chastain always looks forward to the stops in the heartland at Iowa Speedway.

When Ty Majeksi makes his first career start in the NASCAR XFINITY Series this week at Iowa Speedway, he will be doing it in one of the most noted cars in NASCAR history. Majeski will pilot the No. 60 iRacing Ford this weekend, a car entry that holds the record for NASCAR XFINITY Series wins with 93. The car has been driven to victory lane on numerous occasions by NASCAR and former Roush Fenway legends Mark Martin, Greg Biffle and Carl Edwards.

The NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series travels to Sonoma Raceway this weekend while the XFINITY Series and the Camping World Truck Series head to Iowa Speedway.

Richard Childress Racing in Wine Country ... In 66 starts at the 10-turn stadium course, Richard Childress Racing owns two wins, with Dale Earnhardt in the 1995 Save Mart Supermarkets 300 and with Robby Gordon in the Save Mart 350 in 2003, one pole award (Earnhardt, 1995), 14 top-five and 26 top-10 finishes. The Welcome, N.C.,-based team has led 140 laps at Sonoma, completed 6,894 of the 6,940 laps contested (99.3 percent) and recorded just one DNF (Did Not Finish) over that stretch (1989-2016).

Roush Fenway Racing development driver Ty Majeski will make his NASCAR XFINITY Series debut this weekend at Iowa Speedway behind the wheel of the iconic No. 60 Ford Mustang.

Ryan Reed has competed at Iowa Speedway six times in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. Reed has finished 19th or better in every start at Iowa. His best finish came in the second race last year where he started 14th and finished 10th.

“Iowa is a wacky place. Someone once told me, your feet drive like it’s short track and your hands drive like it’s an intermediate track and that’s very accurate. For being a short track a lot of intermediate theory does apply there and I think part of the reason it does that is because the place widens out so much. There are a lot of different grooves that form over the course of a race there and that’s what it’s known for. Iowa is one of the best short tracks that we have around these days. It really is a little gem of a place and it produces great racing.”
