It started with a tweet from Dale Earnhardt Jr. (@DaleJr) to Robert Griffin III (@RGIII), followed by some chiming in from Richmond International Raceway President Dennis Bickmeier (@RIRprez) and RIR (@RIRinsider). What began as a Twitter conversation about a month ago has resulted in Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III driving the Official Pace Car to start this Saturday’s TOYOTA OWNERS 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.

Many NASCAR fans are hoping history repeats itself this season for Dale Earnhardt Jr. In 2004 when Dale Jr. claimed the Daytona 500, he went on to win at NASCAR’s Most Competitive Track – Talladega Superspeedway – that same year. Four-time Talladega Superspeedway winner and three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion Darrell Waltrip was at Samford University in Birmingham on Tuesday, showcasing his historic No. 88 Gatorade Monte Carlo that won many races in the late 1970s and letting students know that Talladega Superspeedway has the best ticket in any sport for college students – the $19 College Party Pass.

1993 NASCAR Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year and current Fox Sport 1 analyst Hermie Sadler will return to the track as he will compete in the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown. The biggest celebrity-laden Late Model Race on asphalt is going back to its roots at South Boston Speedway (South Boston, Va.) on April 24th, as host Denny Hamlin and an all-star cast of drivers return to the race track that helped launch Hamlin's NASCAR career, among other racing stars.

Meet the stars of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East on Friday, April 25 at Richmond International Raceway, before they race “under the lights” in the BLUE OX 100. All of the drivers will be available for a special autograph session, open to all April 25 ticketholders, at 4:00 pm in the Amphitheater.

The green flag may wave at 7:00 pm on Friday, April 25, but the action at Richmond International Raceway starts well before that. Join us on Pit Road from 11:00 am – 6:00 pm for a pre-race experience where you take in the sights and sounds of race prep – including Knockout Pole Qualifying and practice – from the perspective of a NASCAR crew member.
