Driver Quotes

“Texas is another one of my better tracks and I’m looking forward to having a chance to get our momentum going in the right direction. We have had really fast cars these past few weeks but not a whole lot of luck, so hopefully we can turn that around this weekend in Texas and make some gains.” – Sam Mayer

“We have been really strong at Texas the past couple of seasons, and I know that we will have that same speed again this weekend. Having already advanced into the next round of the playoffs is a great feeling and it really gives us an opportunity to take some chances that some of the other guys are not able to. Hopefully we will be able to execute the same way we have been and be up front going for the win and those extra playoff points when it counts on Saturday with our Reese’s Ice Cream / Sam’s Club Chevrolet.” – Justin Allgaier

“We’ve run well at Texas in the past and there’s no reason we can’t continue that this weekend. This JARRETT team isworking hard to make sure we unload with the speed we are capable of having. With the resin on the track, the line is going to change and we need to be ready for that to happen in order to put ourselves in a situation to score stage points throughout the day. I’m confident that we will be in contention Saturday as long as we put it all together.” – Josh Berry

“We have had a lot of speed as of late and I know this team is making sure that speed carries over to this weekend. I thought we had a car capable of winning last week and this No. 9 bunch has run up front at Texas more than not, so I’m confident that we will be near the front this weekend and hopefully battling for the win.” – Brandon Jones

Texas stands as the second track where JRM has surpassed the century mark in starts; the other being Daytona Int’l Speedway.
  • Souvenir Rig: JRM drivers Justin Allgaier, Brandon Jones and Sam Mayer will be signing autographs at the JR Motorsports / Legacy MC souvenir rig on Saturday, Sept. 23 from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. local time.

The legendary Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, a fan favorite since the first AMA Superbike Championship round was held there in 1983, hosted the AMA championship for 32 consecutive years. The venue first opened its doors in 1962.

The last time the AMA Superbike Championship visited Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course was in 2014 with then-21-year-old Cameron Beaubier winning race one with his then-39-year-old teammate Josh Hayes emerging victorious in race two. Beaubier is now a five-time MotoAmerica Superbike Champion and Hayes, a four-time Superbike Champion, recently became the all-time win leader across all classes in AMA road racing.

“Since we started MotoAmerica in 2015, the one thing we consistently heard from our fans is ‘When is MotoAmerica coming to Mid-Ohio?’” said MotoAmerica President Wayne Rainey. “It makes us extremely happy to be able to say that we will be bringing our series to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course next year and we’re looking forward to seeing all those people at the track.”

“We are thrilled to announce the return of MotoAmerica and Superbike racing back to Mid-Ohio in 2024,” said Craig Rust, president of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. “The series has long been a fan favorite in Ohio, and its return has been much anticipated since they last ran in 2014. I know all the avid motorcycle fans throughout the Midwest will join me in welcoming the high-speed bikes back to Mid-Ohio next summer.”

Hayes, who has seven AMA Superbike wins at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, is excited to see the series return to the track located just outside the village of Lexington, 60 miles north of Columbus and 75 miles south of Cleveland.

“From the time that I started racing, Mid-Ohio has been an iconic and regular stop on the calendar,” Hayes said. “All of us were sad to see such a cool racetrack not be a part of the series after 2014. The opportunity to bring that racetrack back into the fold is exciting and with any luck I will be back next year to so some more laps around the place myself.”

TOKYO, Sept 20, 2023 – (JCN Newswire) – On September 15th (Friday) and 16th (Saturday), Lexus hosted the LEXUS SHOWCASE event for global media, where they shared insights into the diversification and electrification efforts of the Lexus brand. Lexus International President, Takashi Watanabe, introduced Lexus’ new model lineup that meets the diversified needs of customers and regions across the world. Additionally, he discussed the future direction of Lexus’ vehicle manufacturing as well as efforts to take on the challenge of developing and promoting battery EVs to achieve a carbon-neutral society.

In addition, Lexus announced the start of a customer experience program1 for the ROV Concept2 which is equipped with a hydrogen engine. This program aims to deliver an experience where customers feel connected to the harmony of nature, maintain the joy of driving while remaining environmentally friendly, and experience a driving sensation that only engine-powered vehicles can offer. Lexus also announced the direction of future vehicle development through electrification technology, which is currently under development, with the goal of providing a driving experience unique to the brand.

Since its inception in 1989, Lexus has upheld the mindset of “Pushing Boundaries,” constantly challenging the conventional notions of luxury cars and consistently delivering new technologies and values to its customers. As a luxury lifestyle brand, we will remain agile and attentive to customer needs and the evolving times, unwavering in our endeavor to craft cars that bring a smile to customers’ faces.

Diversity

Offering new values of diversified luxury, the model lineup announced for 2023 was debuted for the first time in Japan. The “LM” stands as a bold new option for chauffeur-driven vehicles. The “LBX” transcends the conventional size hierarchy and is a car for customers with a discerning sense of taste that can be driven casually. The “GX” combines genuine off-road capability with refined on-road luxury, and the “TX” caters exclusively to North American customers with its spacious three-row seating, ensuring comfortable travel. Additionally, Lexus will use the opinions collected through customer experience programs as feedback to further advance future technological developments for practical applications.

Electrification

Lexus will continue its efforts to achieve a carbon-neutral society, centered around battery EVs. As a car manufacturer, we will also provide new services and joy of driving. For about 10 years, Lexus has been working on enhancing the basic performance and characteristics of its vehicles as well as refining the taste of the Lexus’ driving signature. This driving expereince will of course be carried forward with the battery EV and taken to an even higher level with our electrification technology. The core technologies we have been working on include seamless drive force control with the DIRECT4 four-wheel drive system and the Steer-by-Wire system, which provides an intuitive, linear steering feel. We will continue to pursue a natural dialogue between driver and car that evnokes the joy of driving. In addition, with the AE86 and the RZ Sports Concept which were unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon this January, we are rethinking new ways to inspire the love of driving and cars, even with battery EVs, as we work towards becoming a carbon neutral.

Furthermore, through the Lexus Electrified Sport Concept, we will drive the development of future electrification technologies such as all-embracing batteries, aerodynamics, weight reduction, and high rigidity.

In addition, we will take on the challenge of sustainable initiatives that consider the natural environment. Without being bound by conventional values of luxury, we will utilize recycled and man-made materials to create new, high-quality interiors. Furthermore, in preparation for the full-fledged adoption of battery EVs in the future, the “Lexus Electrified Program” will deploy BEV concierges at all 186 dealers*3 to assist customers with any problems they may have. Additionally we will be expanding the charging infrastructure, enhance services and provide experiences that enrich our customers lifestyle.

The Hidden Costs of DIY Body Repair: Why Professional Help Matters

Are you a car owner looking to save money on repairs and maintenance? Then, you might have searched online for instructions on how to perform DIY bodywork repairs. But you should be aware that doing car repairs yourself often results in additional costs and imposes limitations.

When you take on a modest automotive problem, doing your own auto body repair can help you save a lot of money and make you feel accomplished. But when it comes to dealing with severe problems like significant crash damage, it can get pretty difficult, quickly. Since the majority of novice DIYers lack bodywork skills, this can be a significant issue.

In this blog post, we will explore why professional help matters, the potential pitfalls of DIY auto body repair, and when it’s best to seek professional expertise.

What is Body Repair?

Bodywork is the process of restoring damaged external car components to their pre-damage state. This may entail correcting collision damage as well as repairing dents and scratches. The goal of body repair is to make the car look better while ensuring it remains sturdy and reliable.

Instead of hiring an auto body shop, have you considered doing your own bodywork repairs? It might not be as simple as you think. You can’t just choose car maintenance at random. Here are 5 things to think about before choosing to conduct your own auto-body work:

The Complexity of Body Repair

Body work on a car can be much more complex than it initially appears. From properly assessing the damage to selecting the right tools and materials, each step requires expertise and precision. Without the necessary experience, you may end up with subpar results or further damage to the vehicle.

The Cost of Trial and Error

There’s a learning curve when attempting DIY body repair. We will unavoidably make mistakes along the way, which will cost us time, money, and resources. Trial and error can be expensive, so it is wiser to see a specialist right away.

Time and Effort

DIY body repair is a time-consuming process that requires patience and significant effort. Before starting a repair, think about whether you have enough time and energy for it. You need to consider research, preparation, and the actual work.

Professional technicians have the expertise and can complete repairs efficiently, saving you valuable time and effort.

Quality of Workmanship

Professional auto body technicians have undergone all the necessary training needed to fix cars. With years of experience under their belts, they surpass the craftsmanship and attention to detail of unskilled do-it-yourselfers. With expert assistance, you can expect a flawless repair that preserves your car’s value while restoring its beauty.

Proper Tools and Equipment

Repairing cars requires special tools and equipment that you might not have lying around in your toolbox. Buying wrench sets, jacks, or pry bars can be very costly, making this option impractical. But, there’s also the option of renting them, which might be cheaper than buying them altogether.

Without the right tools, you’ll find it harder to fix your car properly. Professional technicians usually have access to high-quality tools, equipment, and machines, which ensures high-quality outcomes on their auto bodywork repairs.

How Much Will a DIY Car Repair Cost You?

Do you have a car that needs fixing? Are you considering fixing it yourself? You can save a lot of money by doing your own repairs, but it’s important to familiarize yourself with the costs beforehand.

The first thing you need to consider is the cost of the replacement parts. Depending on the part that needs to be replaced, prices may vary. If you’re replacing air filters or doing oil changes, the prices may lean on the cheaper side.

Always choose the best-quality car parts, as they can make a huge difference in the overall cost of repairs. It’s nice to save a few bucks on parts, but cheaper options don’t always mean high-quality. So, it’s better to spend a little more to save yourself the time, effort, and money from having to redo the repairs sooner than expected.

While DIY repairs can save money initially, mistakes can lead to more expensive damage later. Many vehicle owners ultimately rely on a professional Auto Body Shop to properly diagnose structural damage, restore paint, and ensure the vehicle meets safety and manufacturer standards.

While home auto body repairs can save you money, they also require an investment of your time. Think about how much your time is worth, and factor in that you’ll be taking time off work to do the collision repair. Sometimes, it might make more financial sense to pay a professional if the repair is particularly time-consuming or complex.

Is a DIY Car Repair Worth It?

When your car starts making strange noises or if the warning lights on your dashboard keep blinking, it might need to be checked and repaired. However, professional car repairs are expensive, so most people opt for DIY.

DIY car repair can be tempting since it promises cost savings and gives you a sense of accomplishment. But, before you start your DIY journey, here are some of the advantages and disadvantages of DIY car repairs. This might help you determine whether or not choosing to DIY your car repairs is worth it.

The Pros of DIY Car Repair

1. Cost Savings: One of the most alluring benefits of doing DIY auto maintenance is the cost savings. In repair shops, labor costs can mount up quickly, particularly for difficult projects. You can save a lot of money by handling it yourself and putting the money to other uses.

2. Learning Opportunity: DIY auto body repair is a chance to gain inner knowledge about your car. Learn how your car functions so you can be more independent in maintaining and correcting little problems.

3. Convenience: You may work around your schedule by performing DIY repairs. There’s no need to schedule meetings, leave your car behind, or wait for someone else to fix it. You have complete authority over the repair procedure.

4. Sense of accomplishment: Finishing a DIY car repair successfully can be very fulfilling. It’s a concrete accomplishment that gives you more self-assurance and pride.

The Cons of DIY Car Repair

1. Insufficient Knowledge: Unless you’re an experienced mechanic, there’s a good possibility you might not have the knowledge necessary to identify and resolve complex problems. Future costly repairs can result from mistakes.

2. Time-consuming: Should you lack experience, DIY auto repairs may take longer than expected. It could take you all weekend to finish something that would take an expert only a few hours.

3. Requirement for Equipment and Space: To do good do-it-yourself auto repairs, you’ll need the right equipment and a suitable workspace. These essentials can be costly to buy and may not be cost-effective for irregular maintenance.

4. Warranty Concerns: Concerns about the warranty. Performing your own repairs could violate your vehicle’s warranty if it is still active. Before trying any DIY repairs, it’s crucial to review your warranty conditions.

5. Safety concerns: Performing some auto repairs entails safety concerns, particularly if you’re using heavy equipment or working with electrical components. Safety must always come first, and essential safety measures must be taken.

When to Seek Professional Help for Body Repair

DIY car repair is good for small scratches and dings, but not for big repairs. It can be fun and save money, but there are limits and extra costs to consider. This is why it’s best to seek professional help when the repair is quite extensive. They can help irrespective of how the car or vehicle, in general, is used, whether personal or commercial.

For instance, in the case of the latter, try finding for one by using the keywords “commercial body shop near me“. This might help you to find the right shop especially if you own a fleet business. In any case, here are a set of situations that may force you to call upon professional help:

  • Complex or Extensive Damage: Getting professional help is essential if the damage is significant or affects structural elements. This protects the structural integrity and safety of your car.
  • Lack of Time or Experience: It is best to leave the repair to a qualified professional if you don’t have the time or experience necessary.
  • Painting matching and finishing: Skill and specialized tools are needed to achieve a flawless paint match and finish. Professional technicians have the knowledge and equipment needed to guarantee a perfect outcome.
  • Insurance Claims: If the repair is necessary as part of an insurance claim, collaborating with a reputable collision repair facility can assist in speeding up the procedure. Your rights are also safeguarded as a result of this.

Aric Almirola, Driver of the No. 10 Smithfield Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing:

Since joining Stewart-Haas Racing, you’ve won a pole and finished runner-up at Texas. Is this a track that fits your style?

“I just think our organization has found a lot of success figuring out Texas over the years and we had one of the fastest cars in 2019 and finished second to Kevin (Harvick), so we have been really successful as a team at Texas. With this NextGen car, it’s been a bit of a toss-up at the 1.5-mile tracks. Sometimes we hit on it and sometimes we don’t, so we just have to hope what we’re bringing to Texas this weekend is the right setup. I’m really confident there, so if we do unload well, I know we can race up front with the guys contending in the playoffs. Texas always has a huge celebration for the winner, so this would be a really cool track to add to the list and close out the season with a win.”

Chase Briscoe, Driver of the No. 14 Rush Truck Centers/Cummins Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing:

What has been the toughest part of racing at Texas?

“We’ve really had a hard time finding the right balance. That’s something we deal with at a lot of the intermediate tracks, but Texas has been really tough. The track changed a lot with the changes that were made years ago and I think we just haven’t quite gotten it right with the NextGen.”

Last year the No. 14 team used fuel strategy to earn a top-five finish at Texas. Is that something you could do again to get yourself in position to finish inside the top-10?

“I think so. We are definitely in position to try something different from what the playoff guys are doing. Track position is big at the intermediate tracks. The race gets to a point where it’s going to be really hard to pass, so if we can get up there, we might be able to hold on to the spot on a long, green-flag run. But we really need to use these last few races to work on our playbook. We have so much to learn and figure out and, if we don’t use this time for that, it could put us behind for next season.”
