Shake and Baconate: Through his partnership with Wendy’s, Noah Gragson made Chicago sizzle -literally. Click here and here for a recaps of his ‘day in the life’ in the ‘Wendy City’. Gragson was involved in many on-track incidents but battled back from two laps down to a 25th place finish in the historic inaugural Chicago Street Race.

Best finish so far: Gragson returns to Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend, where he garnered his best finish of this season. During the event in March, Gragson was the series fastest entry on restarts with an average speed of 181.308 mph.

Quoting Noah: “We had a really fast car last time out in Atlanta – we passed so many cars, the pit crew was fast, it was one of our most well executed events. This race is so much like a plate race, and I had so much fun in the spring. It was one of those races you wanted just a few more laps to see what we could have done. I’m looking forward to it and it should be exciting under the lights.”

  • About Allegiant: Las Vegas-based Allegiant (NASDAQ: ALGT) is an integrated travel company with an airline at its heart, focused on connecting customers with the people, places and experiences that matter most. Since 1999, Allegiant Air has linked travelers in small-to-medium cities to world-class vacation destinations with all-nonstop flights and industry-low average fares. Today, Allegiant’s fleet serves communities across the nation, with base airfares less than half the cost of the average domestic roundtrip ticket. For more information, visit us at Allegiant.com.

Chicago in the rearview: Erik Jones started the inaugural Chicago Street Race in 21st position and was involved in an early on track incident dropping him back to 35th. Throughout the race conditions ranged from wet streets to dry and Jones climbed his way back into the top-15 by the end of Stage 2. Due to impending darkness, NASCAR made the call to shorten the race from 100 to 75 laps, and Jones ended up finishing the action-filled event in 16th.

Hot-lanta streak: In his last two appearances at the 1.54-mile oval, Jones recorded two top-10 finishes. Last year during this event, he scored a fourth-place finish. The last outing at Atlanta, Jones was in 17th place in the closing laps. He nosed it up the middle line in the pack, advancing nine spots in the final lap, finishing the race in 8th place.

Elenz in Atlanta: During his tenure at JR Motorsports in the Xfinity Series, No. 43 crew chief Dave Elenz built a strong resume for himself at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. In eight starts, Elenz has coached four different drivers to a pole, a victory with Kevin Harvick, four top-fives and six top-10 finishes.

Meet Erik: Former United States Air Force Thunderbird Michelle “MACE” Curran will appear alongside Jones at the Fan Stage on Saturday at 2:00 pm for a #READwithErik event. Jones will read the book authored by Curran titled Upside Down Dreams. The event will be open to the public, and books will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. After the reading, Jones and Curran will hold a private meet and greet for guests who have purchased the Erik Jones ticket package. Click here for details

Quoting Erik Jones: “Atlanta has been good to us ever since they reconfigured the track. We’ve had three strong performances in a row, so I am always looking forward to getting back there. I think our superspeedway package is strong, and Atlanta is a bit different in the fact that there is some handling that comes into play more than your typical Daytona or Talladega. I think it plays out well for us. I hope we have similar speed, we made a good run to the finish and picked up a lot of spots. I believe we will have a shot of performing really well.”

Gen.G Shifts into High Gear with NASCAR Partnership, Further Opening the Global Esports Org’s Presence in Motorsports

WBUR CitySpace Will Host The Pit Stop, Powered by Mobil 1 and NASCAR, Where Fans Can Gather for a Massive Watch Party as Gen.G Mobil1 Racing Competes at the RLCS Boston Major

LOS ANGELES – (July 6, 2023) Global esports organization Gen.G continues to rev up its motorsports presence and further strengthen the link of racing and gaming with their latest partner, NASCAR. To kick off this partnership, Gen.G will be working alongside NASCAR to host The Pit Stop, powered by Mobil 1 and NASCAR, at the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) Boston Major on July 8.

For those who want to step away from the arena, fans can join together at WBUR CitySpace (890 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston) from Noon-5 pm ET for a watch party of all the matches with plenty of comfortable seating, large screens, food, drinks and branded activations. In addition, fans will be able to meet the Gen.G Mobil 1 Racing RLCS team and Gen.G Mobil 1 Racing creators Demar “Dazerin” Williams, MJ “Widow” Austyn, Nathan “Stanz” Stanz, and win limited giveaway items for attending. The Pit Stop is free for the public. Beginning at 8 pm ET, the Pit Stop will be transformed into an invite-only party.

The partnership will also feature Gen.G Mobil 1 Racing creators Dazerin and Stanz attending NASCAR races this season, where they will produce content highlighting their experiences. They will explore the activities surrounding a NASCAR race, show the true fan experience that fans at home don’t get to see, and showcase all that NASCAR has to offer when you attend the race in person. Dazerin and Stanz will highlight the crossover between the racing and gaming communities at NASCAR races with fans at the event and the innovative experiences that NASCAR offers surrounding their races.

“Ever since we joined Rocket League last year, we wanted to expand our presence with all things cars and motorsports, especially with the reception we had surrounding the success of both of our Rocket League teams and our partnership with Mobil 1,” said Martin Kim, Head of Partnerships at Gen.G. “Gaming is a connector and NASCAR shares in that belief. Together we can explore opportunities that resonate with all audiences and communities”.

Since the inception of the Gen.G Mobil 1 Racing and Gen.G Mobil 1 Racing Black Women’s team late last year, they’ve achieved several accomplishments including:

Gen.G Mobil 1 Racing

  • RLCS 2022-2023 Fall Major Champions
  • 1 Ranked team in RLCS NA Standings
  • Qualified for RLCS World Championship in Dusseldorf, Germany in August

Gen.G Mobil 1 Racing Black

  • Dreamhack Dallas Rocket Clash Champions, the first international women’s rocket league LAN tournament
  • 1 Ranked team in North America Women’s Carball
  • Qualified for WCB World Championship in August

The partnership bolsters NASCAR’s commitment to the Rocket League community, where it has released the NASCAR Fan Pass each year since 2021. Last year, NASCAR hosted collegiate Rocket League tournaments at its tracks and sponsored the NASCAR Rocket League 351.

“At NASCAR, we believe gaming bridges the gap between the virtual and real world, fostering a deeper connection with our sport,” said Nick Rend, NASCAR managing director, gaming and esports. “Gen.G shares the belief that gaming is a connector. We are excited to continue our commitment to Rocket League with Gen.G by hosting The Pit Stop at RLCS Boston Major with them and Mobil 1. We also look forward to working with Gen.G to explore new opportunities for our fans to engage with NASCAR and showcase the sport to new audiences.”

The Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) Spring Major will take place at Agganis Arena in Boston on July 6-9. Tickets are on sale at HERE.

● When the series visited Atlanta Motor Speedway earlier this season for the fifth points-paying event of the season, Preece and the No. 41 team started 24th and soldiered to a 28th-place finish after losing a cylinder in the first 30 laps. Preece is hoping for a better result this weekend at the 1.54-mile oval.

● Preece has two Xfinity Series starts at Atlanta with a best finish of seventh in the February 2019 race for JR Motorsports. He also made one NASCAR Truck Series start there in 2022 for David Gilliland Racing, when he finished seventh.

● Last Sunday, the series took on the inaugural race on the downtown Chicago Street Course, a 2.2-mile, 12-turn circuit surrounded by some of the city’s most well-known landmarks, featuring with the start/finish line at Buckingham Fountain. Persistent rain put a damper on things at times, but the Cup Series was able to practice and qualify on Saturday. Preece qualified 28th but had a fast car that helped him fight for position in the race Sunday. NASCAR shortened the race length mid-race due to daylight concerns, and pit strategy didn’t fall in the right place for the No. 41 team. Preece was able to rally to a 15th-place finish.

● In June, competitors took on Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway for the season’s second road-course race. Preece kicked off the weekend on the West Coast with a victory in the ARCA Menards Series West race on Friday afternoon. He qualified his No. 9 Bonanza Ford on the pole. From there, he dominated the race by leading 55 of 64 laps and crossed the finish line 9.675 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Sammy Smith. Preece qualified 22nd for the Cup Series race and finished 13th in the 110-lap race.

● The No. 41 SHR Ford Mustang team has continued to improve in recent weeks and has seen more and more consistency, providing a heightened sense of motivation. Preece had a career weekend at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway in April, earning his first Cup Series pole and leading a career-high 135 laps. In 18 points-paying events this season, Preece has six top-15 finishes, four of which came in the last six points-paying races – May 14 at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway, May 29 at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway, June 11 at Sonoma, and Sunday’s race in Chicago.

● Preece heads to Atlanta 25th in the driver standings with 312 points.

● Preece kicked off the 2023 season with a strong showing in the non-points Busch Light Clash at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, leading a race-high 43 laps but ultimately finishing seventh after a fuel pump issue. He has a best points-paying finish of 12th this season, which came at Phoenix Raceway in March.

Ryan Preece, Driver of the No. 41 Sony Mobile ES Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing:

This is the second visit the Cup Series is making to Atlanta Motor Speedway this season. What were you able to learn from the first race?

“Well, we didn’t really get much of a notebook because we lost a cylinder in the first 30 laps, so I think listening to our teammates and it being hot and in the summer, you’re going to want your car to handle really well, so we’re just going to focus on that. We don’t get practice and we only get a lap or two for qualifying, so it’s really going to be about how we qualify and how the car unloads for us.”

Does the fact that this weekend’s race is a night race change anything from a driver perspective?

“As a driver, I just hope the track loses some grip for us. With the track being superspeedway-style racing, evertything is happening so fast and it’s a unique track layout. The track is just going to continue to change throughout the race. It’s definitely a superspeedway and we can really capitalize on that, but we have to be smart, too. We didn’t get the opportunity to do some of the drafting because of losing the cylinder earlier this season but we know we will have options with the different lanes at this track. It’ll be interesting but I’m looking forward to it.”

Wright Motorsports Heads North for Canadian Competition

NEXT UP: CHEVROLET GRAND PRIX
CANADIAN TIRE MOTORSPORT PARK | JULY 7-9

BOWMANVILLE, Ontario. (July 6, 2023) – The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship officially enters the second half of the 2023 race season this weekend with round six, the Chevrolet Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Based roughly 50 miles northeast of Toronto, Ontario, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park will host the only international race of the year for the WeatherTech series. Driving the No. 77 Wright Motorsports VOLT Lighting Porsche 911 GT3 R, Alan Brynjolfsson and Trent Hindman will look to better last year’s third-place finish in Sunday afternoon’s Grand Prix.

“Alan and Trent had a strong performance here last year, and after a recent test at the track, we feel good heading into this event,” said Team Owner John Wright. “The drivers know this circuit well, and we’ve had success here in the past. We are well prepared and ready to fight for more championship points.”

After last month’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen, the WeatherTech Championship returns to the sprint format, with Sunday’s race time lasting two hours and forty minutes. The short race time drops the required driver lineup back to the two full-season drivers and sees the grid drop from 57 cars to 36. This weekend’s race will also feature four of IMSA’s five classes, as the LMP2 prototype class will sit out this weekend’s event.

Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, formally known to race fans as Mosport, has been a long staple of the North American sports car racing calendar. The permanent picturesque road course sits on 900 acres of rolling, green hills, running for 2.5 miles with ten turns. The combination of elevation changes, high-speed straights, and sweeping corners, makes it a challenging circuit for competitors and a favorite among race fans.

The Chevrolet Grand Prix will air live Sunday, July 9 on NBC for fans in the United States, starting at 12:00 PM ET. The international stream will be live on imsa.tv, starting at 12:00 PM ET. IMSA Radio will offer live comprehensive coverage of all sessions on imsa.radio.com. For schedule information, visit imsa.com.

Alan Brynjolfsson

It has been discouraging that IMSA has made Porsche the slowest car on the grid three out of five races, but that is not something I can control. I keep training, practicing, and testing, and will give it my all. We tested for two days and have done all we can, it is now in the hands of the BoP Gods to see how competitive our car is compared to the field.

Trent Hindman

CTMP is a racetrack Alan and I know all too well – we’ve been fortunate to have success here in the past and have always shown speed throughout any evolution of VOLT Racing. We were able to get on track for a two-day test just after Watkins Glen, all thanks to the efforts of our Wright Motorsports team. Between the opportunity to test and our history at CTMP, I think we have high hopes and expectations for our weekend.

Wright Motorsports

Wright Motorsports is the premier Porsche race engineering facility in Ohio and a multi-series and international racing team known for superb car preparation, expert race strategy, and driver development. Located in Batavia, Ohio, it is owned and directed by John Wright, a certified Porsche factory-trained technician. As a crew chief John Wright has played a key role in winning eight driver and seven team championships in World Challenge, IMSA (ALMS) and the Grand-Am Rolex Series. Wright Motorsports won the team championship in Porsche GT3 Cup USA in 2012, 2013, and 2015, and went on to win the Pirelli World Challenge Overall, Sprint, Team, and Manufacturer’s titles in 2017. In 2020, the team captured the GT World Challenge America Am championship. In 2021, Wright Motorsports had a wildly successful season, capturing nine championships across their five racing efforts.

Is It Better to Replace or Repair a Cracked Windshield?

Photo by Toan Nguyen on Unsplash

When your windshield is cracked, you may wonder if it’s better to repair or replace it. After all, a cracked windshield isn’t just an aesthetic issue—it can also reduce your visibility when driving and put you at risk of being pulled over by the police for having an unsafe vehicle. The good news is that there are a few key factors to consider when deciding between replacing or repairing your broken windshield. You can decide whether to repair or replace your damaged windshield with the following information.

1. Contact a Professional

When considering whether you should repair or replace your cracked windshield, consulting with a professional is essential. A qualified technician can accurately assess the damage and recommend the best option for keeping your car safe and secure. You may need windshield replacement if the crack is severe or near the edge of the windshield. They can also answer questions about the process and advice on preventing future windshield damage.

2. Assess the Severity of the Crack

Assessing the severity of a cracked windshield is essential in deciding whether to repair or replace it. A more serious break may require a replacement, while a minor crack or chip can often be repaired. When evaluating the severity of your windshield damage, you should consider factors such as size, depth, and location of your car window.

If the crack is smaller than a dollar bill and not in an area that obstructs your view when driving, you can get away with repairs instead of full replacement. On the other hand, if the crack is larger than two inches long or located near any edges or corners of your car window—or if there are multiple cracks—then you’ll most likely need to replace it for safety reasons.

3. Consider the Location of the Damage

Full windshield replacement is usually recommended if the crack or chip is located within six inches of an edge. These areas are often more vulnerable to further cracking and pose a greater risk to drivers. In addition, if the crack is located in the driver’s field of vision, you should replace your windshield so that visibility isn’t impaired when driving.

Suppose the damage is near a sensor or camera part of your vehicle’s safety system (like the ones for lane-keeping assist and automatic emergency braking). In that case, you might need a replacement to ensure you can still use these safety features properly.

4. Evaluate Your Safety Concerns

Once you’ve evaluated the severity and location of your windshield damage, you must consider any other factors that could influence your decision. If further damage may occur due to extreme weather conditions or road debris, replacing your car window may be the best option. Similarly, if you plan to sell or trade-in your vehicle soon, replacing the windshield could improve its value and make it more attractive to buyers.

Deciding to repair or replace a cracked windshield can be difficult, but with the right information and advice from a professional, you’ll be able to make an informed choice. By assessing the severity of your windshield damage, evaluating its location on your car window, considering any safety concerns, and consulting with an expert technician, you can decide whether repair or replacement is the best option for keeping your vehicle safe and secure.

Bringing Disinfecting Wipes to the Gym: A Guide to Staying Safe and Healthy

As we navigate life in a post-pandemic world, the significance of personal hygiene and cleanliness has never been more paramount. This is particularly true in shared spaces like gyms, where the risk of disease transmission can be high. One of the most common questions gym-goers ask is, “Can I bring disinfectant wipes to the gym?” The short answer is yes! But let’s delve into the details.

Why You Might Need Disinfecting Wipes at the Gym

Gyms are hubs of physical activity where equipment is shared among many users. Studies have found high amounts of bacteria on gym equipment, making it a potential breeding ground for germs and pathogens. Bringing your preferred disinfectant wipes can help ensure your equipment is clean, reducing the risk of exposure to harmful pathogens and promoting a safer gym environment.

Rules and Regulations About Bringing Medical Wipes to the Gym

While most gyms encourage personal hygiene and provide disinfectant sprays or wipes, bringing your own is generally accepted. However, it’s always a good idea to check with your gym’s specific policies. Some gyms might restrict the types of medical wipes you can bring due to potential allergic reactions or equipment damage. At the same time, many fitness enthusiasts complement their routines with functional drinks that support hydration, recovery, and overall performance.

Benefits of Using Disinfecting Wipes at the Gym

Using disinfecting wipes at the gym has numerous benefits. Firstly, it helps prevent the spread of diseases like COVID-19, making the gym a safer space for everyone. Secondly, it’s a courteous gesture towards other gym-goers, showing respect for shared spaces. Lastly, maintaining a clean gym can help attract and retain customers, highlighting the importance of community health and safety.

Many gym-goers also use forearm compression sleeves to support muscle stability and reduce strain during workouts, and keeping these clean is just as important as wiping down equipment – regular sanitizing helps prevent sweat-borne bacteria from transferring between surfaces.”

How to Properly Use Wipes at the Gym

Using disinfectant wipes at the gym is simple. Before and after using a piece of equipment, thoroughly wipe down the areas you’ve touched. Ensure the surface stays wet for the time recommended on the wipe’s label to ensure effective disinfection. Dispose of the wipe responsibly.

Alternatives to Medical Wipes for Gym Use

If you don’t have access to disinfectant wipes, there are other options. Most gyms provide disinfectant sprays and towels for members to use. Alternatively, you could bring a small spray bottle filled with a mixture of water and bleach or alcohol. Just be sure to let the solution sit on the surface for a few minutes to effectively kill germs before wiping it down.

Best Wipes for Gym-Goers

While most disinfectant wipes will do the job, there are some that are particularly suitable for gym use. Look for wipes that kill 99.9% of bacteria and viruses, are easy to use, and are safe for various surfaces. Also, consider environmentally friendly options that are biodegradable. I recommend you use Zhengxin’s non-woven wipes, which are biodegradable and very suitable for gym use.

Purell hand sanitizer paired with a microfiber wipe may function as a disinfectant in a pinch. Plus, the travel-friendly sizes make them easy to fit in your gym bag or pocket.

Community Response to Using Wipes in the Gym

The community response to using wipes in the gym has been largely positive. Gym-goers appreciate the additional safety measure, and it encourages a sense of shared responsibility for maintaining cleanliness in the gym. Some gyms have even seen membership increase as a result of their rigorous cleaning routines.

Final Thoughts on Bringing Disinfecting Wipes to the Gym

Bringing disinfecting wipes to the gym is a simple and effective way to help maintain a safe, clean environment. It not only protects your health but also the health of your fellow gym-goers. As we continue to adjust to new norms in the wake of the pandemic, maintaining high hygiene standards is more important than ever.

Conclusion

In conclusion, bringing medical wipes to the gym is acceptable and highly encouraged. It is crucial in maintaining a safe workout environment, fostering respect for shared spaces, and promoting overall community well-being. So, next time you pack your gym bag, don’t forget to toss in a pack of disinfecting wipes. Your health and the health of those around you will thank you.

Landen Lewis Joins Roper Racing in the No. 4 Carquest Chevrolet

Mooresville, N.C. (July 5th, 2023) – Roper Racing, a prominent contender in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, is thrilled to announce the addition of Landen Lewis to their racing team. Lewis will make his series debut in the number 04 Carquest Auto Parts Chevrolet at the upcoming event held at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

Having displayed remarkable talent and determination throughout his racing career, Landen Lewis is poised to make a significant impact on the track in the truck series. Joining forces with Roper Racing, Lewis expressed his gratitude, stating, “This has been a dream of mine to compete in the NASCAR Truck series and I cannot wait to make my debut in the number 04 Carquest Chevy for Roper Racing.” He continued, “I want to thank Cory Roper and everyone at Roper Racing for this incredible opportunity. I am honored to be a part of such a dedicated team and I’m excited to take on another road course behind the wheel of the Carquest Auto Parts Chevrolet.”

Craig Roper, team manager for Roper Racing, shared his enthusiasm about Lewis joining the team, remarking, “We’re excited to have Landen in the truck, we have watched him in the ARCA series and feel confident that he will do a great job. Even though he will be a rookie in the truck series for this race, I think we’ll see some veteran like driving from young Landen.” But what is the end goal with a rookie in the Truck? “Normally the answer to this question with a rookie driver would be to just run all the laps, help Landen learn the truck and have a solid day, but with Bruce as crew chief and with Landen’s talent, I think we’ll have a shot at winning this race,” stated Craig.

Bruce Cook will be Landen’s Crew Chief and the two have had remarkable success in the ARCA West Series this season and last. The two have a bond and have been finding their way to Victory Lane in the series, with a recent Win at Portland International Raceway in Oregon. “We have a lot of confidence in Bruce as well,” Roper said. “He has helped Roper Racing find speed and has put together some great finishes this year with a driver he hasn’t worked with before, so having Bruce and Landen together on our truck with their history is a great match up, especially with this being a road course race and seeing what they were able to accomplish at Portland this year in the ARCA West car.” So joining forces is setting sail to future endeavors for both driver and team alike. With ongoing support from Carquest, Chevrolet, and American Resurfacing Inc. they’ve played a vital role in the team’s success and continued growth and this is a step towards the future.

Notes of Interest

● Before last year’s racing took place, the 1.5-mile oval at Atlanta Motor Speedway was repaved and reconfigured. The banking in the corners was increased from 24 to 28 degrees, and the track width was reconfigured to vary from 55 to 40 feet. Racing on the intermediate oval now is more akin to that on the big tracks at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway and its sister track Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway. Almirola finished 22nd after leading six laps at Atlanta in March 2022, and returned in July 2022 to post an eighth-place finish. In his most recent start this past March, Almirola started fifth and led 17 laps before cutting a tire while leading, ultimately ending his day.

● Almirola has a solid record at superspeedways with two wins, six top-fives, 12 top-10s and 84 laps led. In June 2020, he scored his eighth-consecutive top-10 at Talladega to tie the track record for most consecutive top-10s – a mark first set by Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr., from April 2001 to October 2004.

● Last weekend at the inaugural Chicago Street Course race, Almirola brought home a solid 12th-place finish. It was a much-needed run after a string of bad luck.

● While Almirola is seeking a victory in the NASCAR Cup Series to catapult him into the 2023 NASCAR Playoffs, the 39-year-old veteran raced his way to victory lane June 10 in the Xfinity Series race at Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway.

● Driver Points: Almirola arrives at Atlanta 27th in the driver standings, 294 points out of first.

● Almirola’s career: In 442 career NASCAR Cup Series starts, Almirola has three wins, 28 top-five finishes, 92 top-10s, four poles, and has led 1,018 laps.

● Smithfield has been a sponsor of Almirola’s for the entirety of his fulltime NASCAR Cup Series career – making it one of the longest-lasting partnerships in NASCAR. Smithfield is an American food company with agricultural roots and a global reach. Its 63,000 team members are dedicated to producing “Good food. Responsibly.®” Smithfield is one of the world’s leading vertically integrated protein companies. The company has pioneered sustainability standards for more than two decades, including its industry-leading commitments to become carbon negative in U.S. company-owned operations and reduce GHG emissions 30 percent across its entire U.S. value chain by 2030. Smithfield believes in the power of protein to end food insecurity and has donated hundreds of millions of food servings to local communities.

● IHOP joins Smithfield this weekend as a sponsor on the No. 10 Ford Mustang with a brand new paint scheme. Since 1958, IHOP has been the place where people connect over breakfast, enjoy study breaks, grab a bite before or after sporting events, and so much more. And no matter what menu items they order, there’s one ingredient that’s always constant – a smile. IHOP has seen millions of smiles over the years in restaurants, and they’re now shared in photos across the company’s social properties. In fact, smiles are so much a part of IHOP’s culture that it changed its logo to include one.

● Beyond the 10 YouTube Series:In 2023, Almirola is continuing to share his life beyond the No. 10 Ford with season five of his award-winning YouTube series. Fans and media can subscribe on YouTube to see Almirola’s personality on and off the track. Episodes have already featured life as a dad, a husband and an athlete, and the show gives fans a unique perspective on what goes on in the life of a professional NASCAR driver. Fans can also follow Almirola’s social media channels: @Aric_Almirola on Twitter and Instagram, and @AricAlmirola on Facebook.

Aric Almirola, Driver of the No. 10 Smithfield/IHOP Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing:

After three races with the new configuration at Atlanta, how would you describe the racing style, and what grade would you give the track?

“It’s not quite a superspeedway and it’s not quite a mile-and-a-half style. It has the style of a superspeedway, but it also has the handling and drivability of a mile-and-a-half track. I would grade Atlanta an ‘A-plus.’ We’re going to a track that is crazy fast. It is by far the fastest mile-and-a-half racetrack that we go to. As a racecar driver, we all want to go fast. That checks a box for me, and the speedway racing we get where we’re packed in, all racing on top of each other, the fans love it. They love seeing the cars all bunched together instead of spread out, so I give Atlanta a big ‘A’ from my standpoint.”

With your successful superspeedway career, do you look forward to Atlanta?

“I have always enjoyed going to Atlanta. It has been a place that we are so fast as a race team. It’s been a place where we have led a lot of laps recently and I look forward to going there knowing we can put ourselves in a position to win. Unfortunately, both times we have led laps we have been wrecked out or cut a tire from the lead toward the end of the race. Things have to go our way, eventually, and I know we can put ourselves back in that position again this weekend.”

Atlanta Motor Speedway
NASCAR Cup Series (NCS)
Sunday, July 9 at 7:00 p.m. EDT on USA

  • Kaulig Racing has made six starts at Atlanta Motor Speedway in the NCS and has earned a best finish of seventh with Justin Haley.
  • So far in the 2023 season, Kaulig Racing has earned one runner-up finish, seven top-10 finishes and has led 24 laps.

AJ Allmendinger, No. 16 Nutrien Ag Solution FARMSMART Camaro ZL1

  • So far in the 2023 NCS season, Allmendinger has led one lap and earned three top 10 and six top-15 finishes.

“Our superspeedway program has been pretty good. There’s just a different way you race at Atlanta now with the aero package that we run. Track position is really critical; it’s really tight so it’s hard to maneuver around. It’s very important to stay up front and I think handling will be a key because it’ll be hot and the track will be really slick. I felt like we learned some stuff at the first race there this year so we can come back and be better for this race.” – AJ Allmendinger on Atlanta Motor Speedway

Justin Haley, No. 31 LeafFilter Gutter Protection Camaro ZL1

  • Justin Haley has made five NCS starts at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
  • In 2022, Haley earned an 11th-place finish, a seventh-place finish and led one lap at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
  • So far in the 2023 NCS season, Haley has earned one top five and four top-10 finishes with a best qualifying effort of third.
  • Haley earned a runner-up finish in the first-ever race at the Chicago Street Course and led 23 laps, the most he has led in a single race.
  • After completing the 2023 Coca-Cola 600 and Alsco Uniforms 300, Haley now holds the record for the most NASCAR National Series miles completed in a single day by any driver in NASCAR history.

“We’re going into Atlanta with some confidence as a team after having an opportunity to go for a win on Sunday in Chicago. Atlanta has always been one of my favorites in both the Xfinity and the Cup Series. With it being a speedway track, it has been one we have adapted well to at Kaulig Racing. It’s such a fun and unique track with high speeds and shorter distance. I’m super excited to log some more laps in the Xfinity Series as well this weekend!” – Justin Haley on Atlanta Motor Speedway

  • His best finish at the track in the NXS is third, which came in 2020.
  • During his NXS career, Haley earned a total of four wins, 23 top fives, 67 top-10 finishes and 196 laps led.

  • Daniel Hemric has made eight NXS starts at Atlanta Motor Speedway where he has earned three top fives, five top-10 finishes and led 45 laps.
  • Hemric secured his career-best finish at Atlanta Motor Speedway in the spring race earlier this year where he finished second.
  • Hemric currently sits ninth in the 2023 NXS standings and has earned one top five and eight top-10 finishes.

“The pre-race preparation for Atlanta is no different than how we prepared earlier this year. The place has continued to evolve, and the grip of the race track has continued to change. I feel like our package has been really good there and I look forward to building off of it and utilizing our teammates. I am ready to put our standard superspeedway mindset to work and go after it.” – Daniel Hemric on Atlanta Motor Speedway

Chandler Smith, No. 16 Roofing Georgia Chevrolet Camaro

  • Chandler Smith has made one NXS start at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
  • Smith is currently fifth in 2023 NXS points standings with one win, four top fives and seven top-10 finishes.

“It’s always nice to head back to my home state of Georgia for a race. I’m hoping that this time will be a bit different than the last one in Atlanta. We definitely have the speed to compete on superspeedways, but we didn’t get to show that in the race in March. It’s going to be really important for myself, Daniel and Justin to work together this weekend, so hopefully we get hooked up and stay together.” – Chandler Smith on Atlanta Motor Speedway
