  • Line ‘em up: This weekend NASCAR’s superspeedway format is effect for this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway, so there will be no practice for the teams before the NASCAR Cup Series teams qualify on Saturday, March 18.
  • Lambert Knows Best: Gragson’s crew chief Luke Lambert has 11 starts in the NASCAR Cup Series at Atlanta recording two second place starting positions and two top-10 finishes with his respective drivers.
  • Starting at the Front: Gragson has six starts at Atlanta Motor Speedway in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. He won two pole positions, three top-five and five top-10 finishes. Gragson has completed 100% of the 988 laps attempted while leading 58 of them.   • Atlanta Speed: Jones and the No. 43 team showed up with some fast Chevrolets in both Atlanta races last season. In the spring race, Jones ran up inside the top-10 consistently, completing stage one in fifth position. Ultimately, damage sustained from a multi-car incident hampered the end result, leading to a 14th place finish. In the fall race, Jones stepped up the run, leading 10 laps and staying up front for the majority of the event after starting deep in the field. Erik found himself in position to contend for the race win, coming away with an impressive fourth place finish – earning his second top-five of the year.
  • Best Qualifying Effort: Erik had quite the run in qualifying last time out at Phoenix Raceway. The No. 43 Allegiant Chevrolet turned heads in round one, with Jones posting the second-fastest lap in Group A. After round two had come to a close, Jones would see himself line up in the 10th starting spot – his best qualifying result of the season. In addition, Jones was able to lead his first laps of the season during that race, leading 14 circuits in total.
  • READWithErik: This week, Jones visited his hometown of Byron, Mich., to read with students and donate a “Bookworm Vending Machine” to his former elementary school, Byron Elementary. The vending machine was gifted through the Erik Jones Foundation to encourage students to read. Students will earn credits that can be redeemed in the machine to purchase books, an idea inspired by Jones’s former teacher, Tammy Laurin. Th vending machine is an extension of Jones’s youth reading program initiative called #READwithErik that has become a signature activity of his foundation. Jones, an avid reader, began the #READwithErik program by reading to children on his Facebook page when COVID19 shut down the country in March of 2020. Since launching the program, Jones has read nearly 50 children’s books to young readers. His readings to kids have been viewed nearly a quarter of a million times.   • From the Driver’s Seat: Last year, your team was really strong in both Atlanta races. What is it about the superspeedway style of racing on the reconfiguration that fits in your wheel house?

“I liked racing in Atlanta last year. It was a lot different obviously with the new layout and new format style of racing. It’s kind of like having an extra superspeedway track for us, but you have a little more handling involved, especially more than what we have at say, Talladega. I feel like our speedway program has been strong; I feel like at the Daytona 500, we had a good car. So hopefully, we can be just as strong there and be able to just lead some laps, be up front, and have a shot to win. Last year, we were pretty close in a couple of them in Atlanta. You know, I really felt like in the second race there we had a great shot to win, and hopefully we can go back down there and close this one out with our Allegiant Chevy.”

Flagtronics Partnership Improves On-Track Safety for Trans Am, SVRA, FR Americas and F4 U.S.

Technical Partnership Elevates Communication and Emergency Response at SpeedTour Race Events

CHARLOTTE (March 15, 2023) — Flagtronics is the newest partner to join SpeedTour events, adding the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli, Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA), Formula Regional Americas Championship Powered by Honda (FR Americas) and Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda (F4 U.S.) to the growing list of race series who utilize their system to improve safety on the race track.

“We’re very excited to add Flagtronics as a partner and strategic resource for our race series and events,” said Tony Parella, CEO of SpeedTour. “We’ve spent a lot of time testing their products and have seen the efficiencies they can add to our events first hand—improving response time for emergency vehicles and cutting down on wasted time, and allowing more time for green-flag competition.”

Flagtronics products focus on three main areas to increase safety and race awareness both inside and outside the vehicle, including in-car flagging, on-track flagging and race communications. The system considers everyone’s needs—the drivers, the track director and race officials—offering easy-to-install, easy-to-use, compact solutions. The system combines in-car units that detect incidents and alert drivers to full and local cautions, on-track display panels to communicate track conditions that are directly in the line of sight of drivers as they approach each corner, race communications systems like GPS monitoring of all cars and emergency vehicles, and control of both individual flagging and full and local track conditions through the click of a button.

“We’re happy to join SpeedTour and assist with their various events and race series,” said R. Collie King, III, CEO of Monarch Autosport, the exclusive distributor of the Flagtronics Electronic Marshalling Systems. “It’s exciting for us to join new groups and see the impact Flagtronics can make on the product they offer on the track.”

Having spent nearly two years researching similar systems—and ultimately selecting Flagtronics as the company to further engage in testing, Trans Am will require all National Championship competitors to utilize the Flagtronics in-car system in 2023, in addition to using the trackside display panels at events. The series saw first-hand the impact Flagtronics could have on competition during an exceptionally wet race at Watkins Glen International last fall. Rain throughout the day led to borderline race conditions, but the visibility of the trackside display panels and in-car systems provided a flow of information to both drivers and race control to allow the execution of a successful, safe race.

SVRA will employ a portion of the Flagtronics system in 2023, utilizing the trackside display panels, while continuing testing of the in-car systems on the various cars that compete in the series, with an eye towards full deployment for the 2024 season. The implementation of the Flagtronics display panels will allow more efficient and effective communication between series officials and drivers. Not only will the chief steward be able to instantly initiate a full-course yellow or local caution by the push of a button, but the display panels will improve visibility of flags, with the panels placed directly in the line of sight for drivers as they approach a corner.

FR Americas and F4 U.S. mandated a cockpit yellow light system two years ago to alert drivers to full-course cautions, but will move to the Flagtronics in-car system next season. This year, that current system will be paired with Flagtronics’ trackside display panels to improve communication one step further and alert drivers to possible issues in any particular corner. With many FR Americas and F4 U.S. drivers new to racing cars—upwards of 75-percent of the field each year comes out of karting—the systems will help new drivers balance out learning the car, learning new tracks, getting used to racing around other cars, and of course, observing safety flags. Merging the two systems will further enhance safety on the track, while also exposing junior formula drivers to the Flagtronics system, which has become the standard in Formula 1.

Rev Racing and Sanchez looking for results in Atlanta

#2: Nick Sanchez, Rev Racing, Gainbridge Chevrolet Silverado

Concord, NC — After the unfortunate ending to the Victoria’s Voice 200, at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Sanchez and team are focused on a result that matches their capabilities. The second race of the season ended early due to the damage on the No. 2 Gainbridge Chevrolet that proved to be irreparable. After moving from 2 laps down back into the top 15, a late race tangle ended all hopes of a top 10 finish. Despite the results, the team is extremely hopeful in regards to future outcomes. In just two starts, Sanchez has started on the pole in the season-opener at Daytona and next to Kyle Busch on the front row in Las Vegas. He has also led multiple laps in Daytona and early on in the Vegas race before the night came to an early close.

Crew Chief Danny Stockman and Sanchez garnered everything they could from the last two races and remain focused on results to come at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Sanchez is set to take to the track on March 18th, where the race is scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM EST. He will be behind the wheel of the No.2 Gainbridge Chevrolet for the third time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS).

“Atlanta is going to be different,” said Sanchez. “It’s a mix of a 1.5 mile track and a Super Speedway, therefore, I will be learning to balance both of those styles of racing. I have never raced at Atlanta, but I am excited to see the grip level change and the track wear from last year’s spring race.” Sanchez went on to mention the team, “Danny Stockman and the entire No. 2 team have been putting in the work and continue to keep pushing to find more speed, which I think will show in this 5 week stretch of racing beginning in Atlanta.”

Sanchez reflected on Las Vegas: “As for Vegas, it was a race of trial and error and I built up a pretty good notebook from the experience. I’m excited to take what I learned and apply it to the rest of the races.”

Since this marks Sanchez’s first visit to Atlanta Motor Speedway, the team is hopeful to get a good qualifying result in place despite no practice session on the NCTS schedule. Qualifying will begin at 3:05 PM EST. The green flag will wave at 2:00PM EST on Saturday (18th) for the start of the Fr8 208. Drivers will race 135 laps around Atlanta Motor Speedway. A distance of 208 miles around the 1.54 mile track. The race will be broadcasted on FS1, MRN, and SiriusXM.

• Sam Mayer returns to Atlanta Motor Speedway for his fourth NASCAR Xfinity Series start at the 1.54-mile quadoval. In three previous starts, Mayer has a best finish of ninth coming in 2021.
• With 14 starts at tracks measuring 1.5 miles in length, Mayer has recorded three top-five and nine top-10 finishes, including his most recent seventh-place effort at Las Vegas this season.
• Crew chief Mardy Lindley has an average finish of 1.0 at Atlanta after scoring NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series wins in appearances with Kyle Busch (2021) and Corey Heim (2022).

• Josh Berry’s best finish at Atlanta came last summer, when he started second and finished second, leading 13 laps along the way.
• At tracks measuring 1.5 miles, Berry has logged three of his five career victories (two wins at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and one at Charlotte Motor Speedway). He has added six top-five and 11 top-10 finishes at those tracks.
• With his eighth-place result last week at Phoenix, Berry has posted top-10 finishes in three of the season’s four races thus far.
• This marks the first of 10 primaries this season for Tire Pros, a JRM partner since 2021.

Brandon Jones
No. 9 Menards / Jeld-Wen Chevrolet
• Brandon Jones, an Atlanta native, has made nine starts at his home track, with a best finish of fourth at this race in 2019.
• In 74 starts on tracks measuring 1.5 miles in length in the NXS, Jones has scored two wins (Kansas Speedway), 12 top fives and 34 top 10s, while pacing the field for 183 laps.
• Crew chief Jason Burdett has called the shots for one win at Atlanta and has only finished outside of the top 10 in two of the 10 events he’s been atop the pit box. The lone win came with Allgaier during the 2021 season.
• The 26-year-old Georgian currently sits 18th in the point standings, 26 points below the playoff cut line.

● The Cup Series wrapped up this year’s West Coast swing last weekend at Phoenix Raceway and returns to the Southeast this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Sunday’s race will mark Preece’s fifth Cup Series start at the track. His best Atlanta finish is 25th, which came at both the March and July races in 2021. Preece has two Xfinity Series starts at Atlanta with a best finish of seventh in the February 2019 race for JR Motorsports. He also made one NASCAR Truck Series start there a year ago this weekend for David Gilliland Racing. He finished seventh.

● Preece made his eighth start at Phoenix Raceway last Sunday. He qualified 25th and finished 12th. A top-15 finish for the No. 41 team is just what the doctor ordered after a handful of tough outings during the opening weeks of the season. The team is working diligently to keep the positive momentum going this weekend at Atlanta.

● Preece was a victim of circumstances in the second event of the season at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California, getting caught up in a multicar accident on a lap-88 restart and ultimately finishing 33rd. The following weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Preece battled a tight racecar all day and was credited with a 23rd-place finish.

● Preece opened the 2023 season with a strong showing in the 65th running of the Daytona 500 at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway. He and the No. 41 Ford Mustang qualified 20th and logged the best 10-consecutive-lap average in final practice. On race day, Preece finished second in Stage 1 before getting caught up in a multicar accident on lap 181. He was unable to return to the race and finished 36th.

You got a top-15 finish at Phoenix and you were previously saying that you and the team needed to be on offense. Do you feel like things are moving in the right direction?

“From how we were in practice to how we raced on Sunday, that was pretty much like a win for us. We now have something we can build on. I feel like where we were, right there all day, was just a few adjustments away from where I need to be and to where I’m happy with the car. We had a top-10 car, we just needed some adjustments that I don’t think we were going to be able to do on a pit stop. I’m very happy with 12th and I’m looking forward to getting to Atlanta and keeping things moving in the right direction.”

Although you have raced at Atlanta in the past, the track has undergone a lot of changes since your last visit with the Cup Series in 2021. How do you see the racing shaping up there this weekend?

“I truly have no idea what to expect this weekend, but I have a feeling the racing is going to be crazy. I haven’t raced in a Cup car on the new Atlanta track, but I think it’s going to be wild. It’s another race that you have to be smart about because there are going to be a lot of unknowns. We’ve got 260 laps to make something happen. I don’t want another repeat of Daytona – just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Our cars have the speed, that hasn’t been an issue this season. So, we just need to qualify well and keep good track position to stay out of any danger and we will be good.”

Everyone is talking about how Atlanta races like a superspeedway with high-speed pack racing. How do you feel about that style of racing?

“Superspeedway racing is always really aggressive and intense. I think that with this new car, we’re going to see a lot of bump drafting and teams and manufacturers working together to stay up front. That’s what we’ve been seeing at the superspeedways last season and this season. I can only really go off of what I’ve seen from last year and learned from watching and being on the simulator. But, I’m hopeful that we unload with a lot of speed, qualify really well and can stay up front in clean air to be there at the end.”

Larson to make 300th Cup career start at Atlanta

In his ninth full-time season as a NASCAR Cup Series competitor, Kyle Larson is within reach of achieving a milestone start. By competing in this weekend’s Cup event at Atlanta Motor Speedway, the driver of the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 will reach career start No. 300 in NASCAR’s premier series.

A native of Elk Grove, California, Larson made his Cup Series debut at Charlotte Motor Speedway in October 2013. By then, he was a full-time Xfinity Series competitor for Turner Scott Motorsports, where he contended for the rookie title, and was set to join Chip Ganassi Racing to pilot the No. 42 Chevrolet SS for the 2014 season. Starting 21st in his Cup debut while driving the No. 51 Chevrolet SS for TSM, Larson ended up 37th following an engine failure. He then competed in three of the final four Cup events of the season with TMS, where he recorded a season-best result of 15th place in the finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway in November.

Taking over the No. 42 Chevrolet while vying for the rookie Cup title in 2014, Larson’s season started off on a rough note with a 38th-place result in the 56th running of the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway after being involved in a late multi-car wreck. He rallied three races later by notching his first top-10 career result in the Cup Series after finishing 10th at Bristol Motor Speedway in March. He then backed up his run at Bristol by achieving a career-best runner-up result at Auto Club Speedway after carving his way from starting in the top 10 and battling Kyle Busch for the win during a two-lap shootout. For the remaining 21 regular-season events, Larson achieved his first Cup career pole at Pocono Raceway in August along with four additional top-five results and nine top-10 results. Despite falling short of making the 2014 Cup Playoffs, he remained competitive throughout the Playoffs by finishing third at Chicagoland Speedway in September followed by two runner-up results during the next three scheduled events. To go along with two additional top-10 results during the final six scheduled events, Larson capped off his first full-time Cup season in 17th place in the final standings and as the highest-ranked competitor to not make the postseason. While he did not achieve a victory in the 2014 season, Larson claimed the Rookie-of-the-Year title on the strength of eight top-five results, 17 top-10 results and an average-finishing result of 14.2.

Throughout his second full-time Cup season in 2015, Larson finished no higher than third on the track as he also achieved a total of two top-five results, 10 top-10 results and an average-finishing result of 19.3. In March, he was absent from competing at Martinsville Speedway after suffering a fainting spell a day prior to the main event. Missing the Playoffs for a second consecutive season, Larson concluded his sophomore season in 19th place in the final standings despite leading more laps throughout the season (115) compared to his rookie season (53).

Commencing the 2016 season with a seventh-place result in the 58th running of the Daytona 500, Larson had achieved four top-five results and seven top-10 results in 23 scheduled events as he was battling within the Playoff cut line. By then, he had also notched a thrilling non-points victory in the All-Star Open against rookie Chase Elliott at Charlotte in May and was leading the All-Star Race in the closing laps until he collided against the wall with two laps remaining while battling Joey Logano. Then at Michigan International Speedway in August, Larson achieved his first elusive Cup career win in his 99th series start following a late battle against Elliott. The victory also snapped Chip Ganassi Racing’s two-year winless drought as it clinched Larson’s spot into the Playoffs for the first time in his career. Larson’s title hopes, however, came to an early end following respective finishes of 18th, 10th and 25th during the Round of 16. With four top-six results in the final seven scheduled events, including a strong runner-up result at Homestead in November, Larson capped off his junior campaign in ninth place in the final standings. To go along with his first Cup career victory, he also racked up 10 top-five results, 15 top-10 results, 379 laps led and an average-finishing result of 14.7 while surpassing 100 career starts in NASCAR’s premier series.

The 2017 Cup season generated Larson’s first competitive season of his career. He rallied from finishing 12th during the 59th running of the Daytona 500 after running out of fuel while leading on the final lap to post three consecutive runner-up results during the following three events. He then achieved his first victory of the season and the second of his Cup career at Auto Club Speedway in March after leading a race-high 110 of 202 laps and beating the field in a two-lap shootout. By then, he had assumed the points lead in the Cup standings for the first time in his career.

Ten races later, he notched his second win of the season at Michigan in June after leading a race-high 96 of 200 laps while beating Elliott in a five-lap shootout. When NASCAR returned to Michigan in August, Larson capitalized on a two-lap shootout to overtake Martin Truex Jr. and achieve his third consecutive victory in the Irish Hills along with his third win of the season. Three races later, he capped off the regular-season stretch with momentum by capturing a late victory over Truex and the field at Richmond Raceway in September.

Entering the 2017 Cup Playoffs as a title favorite, he transferred from the Round of 16 to 12 on the strength of five consecutive top-five results. His bid for the title, however, ended on a sour note following respective finishes of 10th, 13th and 39th during the Round of 12, including an early engine failure at Kansas Speedway in October that dropped the driver of the No. 42 entry below the top-eight cutline. Strapped with DNFs in three of the final four scheduled events, Larson settled in eighth place in the final standings. While he did not emerge as the champion, he capped off the season with four victories, three poles, 15 top-five results, 20 top-10 results, 1,352 laps led and an average-finishing result of 13.3.

Aiming for redemption while entering his fifth full-time Cup campaign with CGR in 2018, Larson commenced the season with a 19th-place result in the 60th running of the Daytona 500. He went on to finish in the runner-up spot five times, in the top five eight times and in the top 10 14 times during the 26 regular-season stretch before clinching a spot in the Playoffs for a third consecutive season. Despite transferring from the Round of 16 to 12 while finishing no lower than 25th, his bid for the title came to an end amid three consecutive top-12 finishes and after being docked 10 points stemming from Talladega Superspeedway in October after his team violated NASCAR’s damaged vehicle policy by using unauthorized parts to repair the No. 42 Chevrolet. With two top-five finishes in the final four scheduled events, Larson ended up in ninth place in the final standings with no victories, three poles, 12 top-five results, 19 top-10 results, 782 laps led and an average-finishing result of 12.6.

Through the first 10 scheduled events of the 2019 Cup season, Larson and the No. 42 team only achieved two top-10 results, an average-finishing result of 18.6 and were mired back in 21st place in the regular-season standings while also being strapped with three DNFs. This included a wild rollover wreck on the final lap at Talladega Superspeedway in April. After rallying with his first top-five result of the season by finishing third at Dover Motor Speedway in May, Larson achieved a memorable run a week later at Charlotte Motor Speedway by winning the All-Star Open before emerging victorious in the All-Star Race over Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch.

With a total of nine top-10 finishes during the final 15 regular-season events in the schedule, Larson was able to make the Cup Playoffs for a fourth consecutive season. After transferring from the Round of 16 to 12 on the strength of three consecutive top-13 results, he snapped his 75-race winless drought by winning at Dover in October and secured a one-way ticket to the Round of 8 in the Playoffs. Despite finishing no lower than 12th in the Round of 8, he did not claim a spot in the Championship 4 finale at Homestead in November. He, however, capped off the season in sixth place in the final standings with a single victory to the season, a pole, eight top-five results, 17 top-10 results, 529 laps led and an average-finishing result of 15.1. By then, Larson had surpassed 200 Cup career starts.

In the early stages of the 2020 Cup season, Larson recorded three top-10 results during the first four scheduled events before the season was placed on a two-month hiatus amid the COVID-19 pandemic. In April, however, Larson was suspended indefinitely from NASCAR and released by Chip Ganassi Racing after verbally using a live racial slur during a live iRacing event. Then six months later and following a yearlong sensitivity training, Larson was reinstated by NASCAR and was permitted to participate in NASCAR-related activities in January 2021. Amid his reinstatement, he was also signed by Hendrick Motorsports to pilot the organization’s iconic No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE for the 2021 Cup season.

Larson’s return to full-time Cup competition in 2021 ended up being a career season for the Californian, who started the season with a 10th-place result in the Daytona 500 despite being involved in a fiery multi-car wreck on the final lap. Three races later, he achieved a redemptive victory at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in March after leading a race-high 103 of 267 laps as he recorded the first Cup victory for HMS’ No. 5 entry since July 2017.

After finishing in the runner-up spot in four of the following 10 scheduled races, Larson claimed his second victory of the season in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May after leading a race-high 327 of 400 laps. With the victory, he made Hendrick Motorsports the winningest Cup team at 269, one better than Petty Enterprises. Larson then ignited a hot streak for himself and the No. 5 HMS team, beginning in June by winning at Sonoma Raceway, the All-Star Race at Texas Motor Speedway and the inaugural Cup event at Nashville Superspeedway.

With four top-five results during the final nine regular-season events, including his fifth victory of the season at Watkins Glen International in August, Larson managed to overtake and beat Denny Hamlin to claim the 2021 Cup regular-season championship and enter the 2021 Playoffs with momentum. With four additional victories throughout the Playoffs, he managed to transfer all the way from the Round of 16 to the Championship 4 round at Phoenix Raceway in November. Then during the finale at Phoenix, Larson led a race-high 107 of 312 and fended off Truex in a 24-lap shootout to claim his unprecedented 10th victory of the season and win the 2021 Cup Series championship.

In doing so, Larson became the 35th different competitor to win a championship in NASCAR’s premier series. He also recorded the 14th Cup title for Hendrick Motorsports and became the first champion to achieve 10 victories in a season since Jimmie Johnson made the last accomplishment in 2007. Overall, Larson capped off his championship season with 10 victories, two poles, a career-high 20 top-five results, a career-high 26 top-10 results, 2,581 laps led and an average-finishing result of 9.1.

Entering the 2022 Cup season as the reigning champion, Larson commenced the season by capturing the pole position for the 64th running of the Daytona 500. Despite being involved in a late multi-car wreck and finishing 32nd in the 500, he rallied during the following weekend at Auto Club Speedway by beating Austin Dillon, Erik Jones and Daniel Suarez in a four-lap shootout to capture his second victory in Southern California and his first of the season.

Six months later, he achieved his second victory of the season at The Glen following a late duel against AJ Allmendinger before securing a Playoff spot for a seventh consecutive season. While he was able to transfer from the Round of 16 to 12 on the strength of three consecutive top-12 results, he finished no higher than ninth during the Round of 12 and was eliminated from title contention by two points by finishing 35th at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course in October.

With his hopes of defending his series title evaporated, Larson managed to claim a dominant victory at Homestead before settling in seventh place in the final standings. By then, he capped off the season with three victories, four poles, 13 top-five results, 19 top-10 results, 635 laps led and an average-finishing result of 14.1.

Through 299 previous Cup starts, Larson has achieved one championship, 19 victories, 15 poles, 91 top-five results, 148 top-10 results, 6,699 laps led and an average-finishing result of 14.2. He is currently ranked in a tie for fifth place in the 2023 Cup regular-season standings on the strength of two top-five results that include a runner-up result at Las Vegas and a fourth-place finish this past weekend at Phoenix.

Should Larson win this weekend’s event in Hampton, Georgia, he will become the seventh different competitor to win in career start No. 300, a list that includes Ned Jarrett, Rusty Wallace, Kasey Kahne, Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski.

Larson is scheduled to make his 300th Cup Series career start at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday, March 19. The event’s broadcast is slated to occur at 3 p.m. ET on FOX.

Las Vegas Recap: Alan made his way into the top-15 early on at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. However, in the second stage, the No. 45 AUTOParkit Chevrolet was involved in an accident, which relegated the team to a 20th-place finish.
Alan on 20th-Place Finish at Las Vegas: “We had a lot of speed in our AUTOParkit Silverado in Las Vegas. We got put into a bad spot that ruined our day with damage; but I learned a lot from that incident. I think the knowledge I gained with the truck and the aero package will be very beneficial at the next intermediate tracks.”

Alan at Atlanta Motor Speedway: In Alan’s lone start at the newly repaved Atlanta Motor Speedway, he finished 33rd after getting collected in a wreck while running inside the top-15.

Alan on Saturday’s Race at Atlanta: “I feel great going into Atlanta this weekend and I’m looking forward to getting back in the truck, especially after a good run last year. I feel a lot more comfortable in the truck this year as compared to this time last year. I’ve got much more confidence and I’m looking forward to showing everyone what I can do.”

Las Vegas Recap: Hocevar was able to score his first top-10 of the 2023 season at Las Vegas, with a seventh-place finish. The Portage, Michigan driver scored the Stage Two victory, while leading 19 laps in the second race of the season.

Hocevar on Seventh-place finish at Las Vegas: “I feel really good about our speed and handling at Vegas. That was the most comfortable and relaxed I’ve ever been in the truck. All the crew did a great job this off-season, especially Phil Gould, and I’m really happy to have their hard work show.”

Hocevar at Atlanta Motor Speedway: In two starts at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Hocevar has finished 12th and 27th in 2021 and 2022, respectively. Last season at the 1.5-mile track, he was able to secure stage points and qualify inside the top-five for the event.

Hocevar on Saturday’s Race at Atlanta: “It’s going to be really similar to Daytona and Talladega based on last year’s race. We just need to be smart and make moves count, because there will be a lot of riding single-file to get through the race. Atlanta is its own animal. But with it racing like a superspeedway, we have as good a shot as anyone to execute and end up in victory lane.”

On the Truck: Hocevar’s No. 42 Worldwide Express Chevrolet Silverado will race with support from the WWEX group of brands, which comprises Worldwide Express, Unishippers and GlobalTranz.

Public Appearances: Hocevar, along with a majority of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series field, will take part in an autograph session on Saturday, March 18 from 10:30am – 11:15am at the Atlanta Motor Speedway Kids Zone.

The No. 41 Truck Last Race at Las Vegas: Ross Chastain was able to pilot the No. 41 truck into the top-10 until the No. 41 sustained damage in a wreck at the end of the second stage. From there, Chastain finished 24th after multiple green flag pit stops in the final stage to repair damage from the incident.

Currey at Atlanta Motor Speedway: Currey has made a handful of starts at Atlanta Motor Speedway in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, and also has one start in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. In his lone Truck Series start in 2020, he finished 32nd. In the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Currey has an average finish of 26.0 in six starts.

Currey on First Truck Start of 2023 in Saturday’s Race at Atlanta: “I’m super excited to be back with Niece Motorsports and be able to represent Unishippers and Worldwide Express. I’m very thankful for the opportunity and ready to get rolling. The trucks punch a much bigger hole in the air than the Xfinity Series car I’m used to. The runs you get in the truck are a lot bigger and things happen a lot faster. I’ve run a few speedway races with Niece Motorsports and we’ve always had good speed and an opportunity to win, and I think it should be no different at Atlanta.”
