Parker Retzlaff Returns to NASCAR Xfinity Series Competition Armed with New Partner

LEBANON, Tenn: Set to return to the NASCAR Xfinity Series scene for the first time in nearly two months, thriving rookie Parker Retzlaff returns to RSS Racing hoping to earn the spotlight in his return with his second top-10 finish of the season in Saturday afternoon’s Tennessee Lottery 250 at Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway.

In his most recent race at Dover (Del.) Motor Speedway in early May, Retzlaff adapted to the Miles’ the Monster in Xfinity Series competition and overcame a subpar qualifying effort to deliver a respectable 17th place finish – recording his third top-20 finish of the year in four races overall.

With Nashville the official start of the summer stretch, Retzlaff turns to the 1.33-mile concrete race track looking for a hot finish on what is expected to be a brutally hot weekend.

“I’m ready to get back to work,” said Retzlaff. “It seems like forever ago that I’ve competed in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with RSS Racing, but I’m eager to get back behind the wheel and have a strong finish that builds some momentum for my upcoming races.”

Retzlaff has never been to Nashville Superspeedway, but this isn’t the first venue this season that the 19-year-old hasn’t experienced actual track time this season, including Phoenix Raceway, Richmond Raceway and Martinsville Speedway respectively.

But it’s his impressive top-10 finish at Richmond Raceway that is pivoting Retzlaff forward with nearly an hour of practice on deck Friday afternoon to prepare him for his fifth Xfinity Series start of his career.

“I’m approaching Nashville much like I have all season,” added Retzlaff. “I’m utilizing the resource that is available to me, such as iRacing, photos and videos to study and get acquainted for Nashville, but with it expected to be very warm this weekend, track time will mean everything.

“I know that the RSS Racing team will bring me a fast Ford Mustang, so I’m making sure I’m taking the necessary steps myself to stay ahead of the heat from the driver’s perspective by getting hydrated and

following a regiment that will allow me to beat the heat on Saturday afternoon.”

Nashville isn’t only huge because it’s Retzlaff’s return – but because he will debut a new marketing partner in FunkAway, a line of odor elimination products that removes the horrible effects of bad smells aboard his No. 28 Ford Mustang.

B2Z Products Inc. is headquartered in Waukegan, Illinois, and is the developer of FunkAway, a line of odor elimination products that removes the horrible effects of bad smells.

Guaranteed to work on clothing, shoes, gear, pet products, car interiors and more, FunkAway allows users to renew and refresh, rather than throw away.

“It’s incredibly important to me to have a good showing at Nashville this weekend and give FunkAway a memorable race,” sounded Retzlaff. “I use FunkAway at home and it’s awesome and I’m sure every driver in the Xfinity Series will need some FunkAway in one shape or form with the weather we’re set to experience this weekend.

“My goal for Saturday afternoon is to give FunkAway a strong debut that will allow us to build our partnership for future races. I’m just ecstatic about having the opportunity to represent FunkAway and hopefully introduce their product to some new race fans!”

In addition to FunkAway, Ponsse, Eco-Tracks, Grille Adz, Iron Horse Loggers, Northern Chill Spring Water and Pewag will serve as associate marketing partners for the 15th Xfinity Series race of the season.

“I feel very fortunate to be able to have the support of FunkAway, Ponsse, Eco-Tracks, Northern Chill Spring Water and our other partners not only for Nashville this weekend but for the 2022 season overall,” explained Retzlaff.

“Without them, I would not be competing in the Xfinity Series this weekend let alone this year. My goal is to go out there and just stick to the same goals we’ve had all season. We want to be better than we unloaded and go forward during the race.

“Hopefully, on Saturday afternoon, we can do a little better than the last race and circle back inside the top-10.”

Retzlaff graduated to the Xfinity Series in 2022 after spending the last two years competing in the ARCA Menards Series East tour where in 12 starts, the Rhinelander, Wisc. native delivered one top-five and nine top-10 finishes, including a career-best fourth-place finish in June at Southern National Motorsports Park (SNMP).

In addition to Nashville, Retzlaff will drive an RSS Racing entry in several upcoming races, including Kansas Speedway, Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway and the season finale at Phoenix (Ariz.) Raceway on Sat., Nov. 5, 2022.

Retzlaff added, “I feel like I’ve raced the others on the track with respect and race them how I liked to be raced. Nashville has some tight confines, but I would like to continue building on that respect with my peers and teammates and hope it will be mutual with them. I’m just looking forward to getting to the track and getting to work.”

Outside of the cockpit, Retzlaff is an accomplished iRacer with more than 1,615 poles, 1,653 wins, 3,291 top-five and more than 68,800 laps led.

He is also the rookie driver of the No. 6 KOHLER Generators Ford Mustang for Roush Fenway Keselowski (RFK) Racing in the eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series.

Irish Mike’s has Conway, Flynn set for Watkins Glen doubleheader

WATKINS GLEN, NY (22 June 2022) – Irish Mike’s Racing returns to action with a two-car entry for this weekend’s Round 4 of the IMSA Porsche Carrera Cup North America presented by Visit Cayman Islands during the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen event weekend.

The team will field a pair of Porsche 992s in a pair of 40-minute races on the legendary 11-turn, 3.4-mile circuit. Conor Flynn will drive the No. 95 FlynnCo Cars / Chillout Systems entry in the Porsche Pro class, while Craig Conway pilots the No. 97 Diamond Suzuki Porsche in the Porsche Pro-Am division.

Conway is coming off his best finish of the season, placing a season-best 10th in Pro-Am in the Sunday race at Laguna Seca after finishing 11th on Saturday. Since then, he joined Flynn in a test at the upstate New York circuit.

“We had a good test at the Glen, and it was very helpful,” Conway said. “We learned a lot, and made some changes to the suspension and wing. I felt pretty good.

Conway’s history at Watkins Glen includes a Rolex Series American GT victory in 2000, driving a Flis Brothers Corvette, in addition to several podiums in the Firestone Firehawk series.

“It seems I’ve been going to the Glen forever, and it’s the same track,” Conway said. “The biggest difference is that it’s much grippier since they paved it a few years ago. The test was my first time there with our new Porsche. I got a little closer every time out, I was learning on every lap.”

Flynn finished 10th in class during Round 2 at Long Beach, but was forced to sit out both races at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca after a practice incident forced him to go from racer to spectator.

“When we get back to Watkins Glen, we’ll be a couple of steps ahead of where we would have been if we didn’t test,” Conway said. “We also fixed Conor’s car since his accident, and both Porsches are now OK. I think we will be in pretty good shape when we get back to the Glen for the races.”

The opening race of the weekend goes green at 1:25 p.m. (all times ET) on Friday. Saturday’s second race begins at 11:05 a.m.

Max Gutiérrez Set for Double Duty in Two Different Countries Starting at Nashville Superspeedway

LEBANON, Tenn.: Former NASCAR Mexico Challenge Series champion Max Gutiérrez will return to AM Racing this weekend at Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway looking to kick off an essential double-duty effort in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Rackley Roofing 200 on Friday night.

Set to make his second Truck Series start of the season, Gutiérrez will look to improve on his Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway debut and earn a top-20 finish under the Nashville lights before trekking back to his home country of Mexico.

On Sunday, he’ll compete in the NASCAR Mexico Series race at Cajititlan International Trioval where Gutiérrez’s younger brother Fico Gutiérrez will also be participating at the same Jalisco, Mexico race track, but in the developmental NASCAR Challenge Series class.

“This weekend is probably one of the most important race weekends of my life,” said Gutiérrez. “A lot of traveling, a lot of racing but a prime opportunity to compete for strong finishes in both races and I’m incredibly grateful.

“I’m excited about competing at a new venue at Nashville Superspeedway with AM Racing and building on what we started at Charlotte Motor Speedway and keep progressing forward during my limited schedule as we build a platform for the future.”

Gutiérrez admits that his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut at Charlotte Motor Speedway last month had its challenges but his commitment to overcome adversity is something the rookie driver knows he’ll continue to face and conquer with more track time in the future.

“The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is very competitive and I don’t expect Nashville to be any different,” explained Gutiérrez. “We don’t have a lot of practice time before qualifying and the race, so it is important to take the important steps to get a good balance with our truck and then continue to make adjustments throughout the day and night that will help us be competitive and contend for a top-20 finish.

“A top-20 finish isn’t going to be a sinch. It’s going to take a lot of effort, but I believe that the trucks that AM Racing brings to the track are plenty capable of allowing me to conquer my goal. If we can have a successful second showing at Nashville then it just makes the trip to Jalisco that much easier and gets me amped up for what can be accomplished on Sunday too.”

Gutiérrez’s Truck Series start of 2022 will be supported by a roster of his longtime supporters not only in ARCA competition but throughout his racing career in his homeland of Mexico.

New for Nashville, Inspectra Thermal Solutions Inc., (ITS) a leading thermal imaging company will serve as the primary marketing partner of the No. 22 Chevrolet Silverado RST, while additional support pours in from TOUGHBUILT, Bolsa DX, GoGig, Teknekk and Telmex.

Inspectra Thermal Solutions Inc. is one of the most advanced experts in thermal imaging. They believe in making the world a safer, cleaner, more efficient, and healthier place for everyone and do this by visualizing energy.

“I cannot thank Inspectra Thermal Solutions Inc. enough for jumping on board for Nashville,” sounded Gutiérrez. “It’s always very gratifying to bring new partners to the sport, while also embracing the current support of my longtime partners who have followed my journey from Mexico.

“I want nothing more than to make them proud on Friday night.”

Veteran AM Racing crew chief Jamie Jones will serve as crew chief for Gutiérrez at Nashville on Friday night. The two worked together in two ARCA Menards Series races earlier this season at Daytona and most recently at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway where the Mexico City, Mexico native produced an impressive 10th place finish after starting 24th.

“We are thrilled to continue to be a part of Max’s next chapter in making the transition to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and taking on Nashville this weekend,” said AM Racing team principal Kevin Cywinski.

“Through our great relationship with Rette Jones Racing Development, we have been able to have some success with Max this year and we look forward to continuing his steady progression and success in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series not only at Nashville but other select races in 2022.”

In addition to Inspectra Thermal Solutions Inc., TOUGHBUILT. TekNekk and Jimmy Morales Escuderia TELMEX | TELCEL, Distributed Ledger Inc. (DLI), GoGig, Ford Performance, Goodridge Fluid Transfer Systems, Jones Group Demolition and Abatement and JRi Shocks join the Mooresville, N.C.-based team as partners on Friday night.

In 11 career ARCA Menards Series East starts, Gutiérrez has one win, three top-five and six top-10 finishes and hoists a series’ average finish of 9.3 over three years.

In seven career premier ARCA Menards Series starts, the 19-year-old has one top-10 and carries a series’ average finish of 16.0 over three years.

PEDIGREE Racing: Kyle Busch Nashville Advance

KYLE BUSCH
Looking for a Doggone Win

HUNTERSVILLE, North Carolina (June 22, 2022) – With the NASCAR Cup Series coming out its only off weekend of the 36-race schedule, Kyle Busch is looking to continue – even improve upon – his already strong performance this season during the second half of the year.

Busch, driver of the No. 18 PEDIGREE Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR), has brought home six top-five, and 11 top-10 finishes over the first 16 races and finds himself very much in the running for the regular-season championship. He sits 23 points behind series leader Chase Elliott with 10 races to go before the playoffs commence.

In addition to his win on the dirt at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway, the Las Vegas native was just an untimely caution flag away from bringing home two more wins at both his hometown Las Vegas Motor Speedway in March and at World Wide Technology Raceway near St. Louis earlier this month.

The two-time Cup Series champion now looks to start the second half of the season with a win at a place where he has an extensive racing and winning history – the 1.333-mile concrete oval at Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway. Busch competed in three different series at Nashville – NASCAR’s Xfinity Series and Camping World Truck Series, and the ARCA Menards Series. He made his Nashville debut in 2003 in his only ARCA start there and brought home the victory. He was also two-for-two in both his Truck Series starts, both wins coming from the pole in 2010 and 2011. The 2010 win also happened to be the first victory for his own Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM) team.

Busch has the most experience at Nashville in the Xfinity Series, having started 10 races there from 2004 through 2011 that netted a 2009 victory and four top-five finishes. He added a start and an Xfinity Series win in NASCAR’s return to Nashville last season.

In addition to the vast Nashville Superspeedway experience on Busch’s resume, Busch and the No. 18 team have another chance to experience the homecoming of sorts for primary sponsor PEDIGREE®, whose Nashville-area headquarters are just up the road from the track. Busch will visit the facility prior to the race weekend.

The PEDIGREE brand and PEDIGREE Foundation are once again joining forces with Busch and the No. 18 team to spotlight pet adoption and support Mars Petcare’s global ambition to end pet homelessness. Busch’s PEDIGREE paint scheme will feature adoptable dogs and an “Adopt Me” call to action. As part of this collaboration, Mars Petcare, the PEDIGREE brand and PEDIGREE Foundation will host adoption events in Nashville during race weekend, covering all adoption fees at participating shelters for pets that find loving homes from June 24-26.

Participating shelters include Williamson County Animal Center and Nashville Humane Association. Courtesy of Mars Petcare, the PEDIGREE brand, and PEDIGREE Foundation, each adopter will receive a starter kit for the new furry family member that includes food, treats and pet supplies, such as a portable bowl and waste bags.

So as Busch heads to Nashville, he’s hoping to keep the momentum going from a strong first half of the Cup Series season and bring home his first Cup Series win at the tricky concrete track in his next doggone visit to Music City.

KYLE BUSCH, Driver of the No. 18 PEDIGREE Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing:

How do you feel about the Cup Series racing at Nashville Superspeedway?

“I think it’s a cool racetrack and a cool venue. I raced there a lot over the years in the ARCA Series, the Camping World Truck Series, as well as the Xfinity Series. I’ve had my fair share of races there and also my fair share of wins there. I was able to win the Xfinity Series race there last year, but we struggled a bit with our Cup car there. It’s a whole new ballgame with the new car there this year to see what is going to make our car fast. I think racing in Nashville fits with our sport because NASCAR and country music are kind of synonymous with each other. It’s a great opportunity to race there and we’ll do our best to get our PEDIGREE Camry to victory lane. Really proud to have PEDIGREE on board this weekend and all their work to help dogs find forever homes.”

With the point leaders bunched together at the top of the standings, does that make you focus more on getting playoff and bonus points?

“My answer to that or my mindset to that is you want to create some separation for yourself amongst the rest of your competitors. That betters you throughout the playoffs. With everyone being so close together and keeping bunched up, and with the season being as unpredictable, up and down for everybody, the playoffs could be that exact same way – where there are just way more unknowns. I think it was (The Athletic’s Jeff) Gluck who asked a few weeks ago, ‘Who is your championship favorite right now?’ We are all like, who knows? I feel like you are still at that point to say the Gibbs guys have been fast at the mile-and-a-halves. I would say the TrackHouse guys have been fast about everywhere. At the Phoenix-style track we struggled. The Penske guys were a bit better. There was an SHR (Stewart-Haas Racing) car that won that race. Again, I don’t even know where to go, but certainly playoff points are always on everybody’s minds. That was on my mind last race in the first stage, trying to win that first stage to get that playoff point knowing how important those are going to be when the time comes.”

Have you noticed that the intermediate tracks have become more competitive with the new car?

“There have definitely been the good guys – the guys who are good can come through traffic better than the guys who are mediocre, or the guys who aren’t very good can’t come through traffic. I guess when you are frustrated that you can’t come through traffic, you need to get your stuff better, but you can’t really do that throughout a race. It’s hard to change enough on those cars to make a big enough difference in the event while in the event. I guess, to me, I won’t argue that fact. Unfortunately, we could’ve-should’ve won Vegas, could’ve-should’ve won Kansas. A Toyota car did win Kansas. We were fast up front at Charlotte, and then when we spun again, the underbody – we killed the underbody. The car was terrible the whole rest of the day, all because of a spin – spinning while battling for the lead, to stay in the lead, to have a potential to win a stage. People would say, ‘Well, why don’t you just concede the position?’ Because there are stage points in 30 laps or so. It’s just a matter of trying hard and trying to drive the thing. Sometimes they step out from underneath you and you would like to not have to pay such a huge penalty.”

Diversifying Online Casino and Sportsbooks with 96Ace

Photo by Christin Hume on Unsplash

Diversification is a core element in regarding anything financial. Similar to stocks and cryptocurrency, diversifying within the casino and betting landscapes is a part of a successful strategy. The benefits include fewer losses, safer bets, increased winnings, and improved knowledge of casino environments. The previously mentioned benefits can provide the edge you need to partake in betting websites around the globe which include online casino malaysia and other countries.

What is Diversifying?

To elaborate on diversification in your casino and betting experience, you must know what diversification is. Financial diversification is spreading your investments into multiple unique assets instead of a singular asset. This is useful because it prevents a total loss of value in the instance that the asset devalues. Investing in stocks, for example, one would invest in multiple different stocks rather than a single one.

For online betting, however, diversification is betting on multiple sports and participating in many unique casino games. Diversifying can be done easily so long as your website provides online sportsbooks and casino games, such as 96Ace. The effectiveness of this can vary as there are pros and cons to implementation which are explained below.

Sportsbooks

For those involved in sports betting, placing multiple bets may not be taboo. One of the benefits is that it allows a bettor to place bets year-round as they’re prepared and experienced for any sport.

Diversifying into different sports will gradually expand your sphere of knowledge in the various sports and increase your understanding of winning and losing strategies. Most experienced bettors maximize this diversification by utilizing mixed parlay bets to their fullest extent.

  Pros:

  • Year-Round Betting
  • Utilize Mixed Parlay Bets
  • More Opportunities
  • Constantly Expanding Knowledge

Cons:

  • Can be overwhelming
  • Not as specialized
  • Less time to create strategies

Casino Games

Online casinos continue to be a staple for anyone who participates in the gambling environment. It’s already likely an individual is practicing diversification as each new game offers different opportunities and methods to generate value.

Slot machines and roulette don’t offer many differences in diversification due to their similar nature. The act of changing games, however, can offer a fresher outlook and still provide some of the best chances to turn small bets into huge jackpots. Online casinos offer a plethora of different games and diversifying to the one you understand the most is the best play.

The greatest benefits of online casino diversification are table games such as blackjack and poker. These games already have excellent odds as it relies on both skill level and luck. Increasing your skill level in these games to excel at them is a method to achieve massive amounts of winnings.

  Pros:

  • Allows for a unique casino visit each time
  • A better understanding of different game types
  • Potential for massive amounts of winnings with less luck involved

Cons:

  • Slots don’t benefit as much from diversification
  • Requires time investment to gain skill

Wrapping Up

As you’ve read, there are many benefits and drawbacks of the diversification of online gambling and betting. The biggest drawback is the time required to gain knowledge of different sports betting environments and increasing skill levels in casino games. If you’re someone who has the time necessary to learn and understand the online gambling world and is also capable of multitasking; diversifying your bets may be the best strategy for you. Legendary Businessman, Philanthropist and NASCAR Hall of Famer Bruton Smith Passes Away

Speedway Motorsports Executive Chairman Bruton Smith looks out over Charlotte Motor Speedway, which he built in 1960, launching his Hall of Fame career in motorsports. (CMS/HHP photo)

Smith had trailblazing careers in motorsports, philanthropy and automotive retail, serving as Founder and Executive Chairman of Sonic Automotive,
Speedway Motorsports and Speedway Children’s Charities

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (June 22, 2022) – A visionary and transformative figure in both business and entertainment, Ollen Bruton Smith, the founder and executive chairman of Sonic Automotive (NYSE: SAH), Speedway Motorsports and Speedway Children’s Charities died today of natural causes. He was 95.

Born March 2, 1927, Smith was the youngest of nine children and grew up on a modest farm in Oakboro, North Carolina. As a member of the Greatest Generation, Smith learned the value of hard work early in life.  With an inspiring determination and relentless optimism, Smith built a business empire through the automotive and motorsports industries and left a legacy to inspire generations of his family, friends and colleagues.

“My parents taught us what work was all about,” Smith said in 2008. “As I look back, that was a gift, even though I certainly didn’t think so at the time. A lot of people don’t have that gift because they didn’t grow up working. But if you are on a family farm, that’s what you do. Everything is hard work.”

Smith founded Speedway Motorsports by consolidating his motorsports holdings in December 1994, and in February 1995, he made it the first motorsports company to trade on the New York Stock Exchange.  Today the company owns and operates 11 motorsports entertainment facilities: Atlanta Motor Speedway, Bristol Motor Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Sonoma Raceway, Texas Motor Speedway, Dover Motor Speedway, Nashville Superspeedway, North Wilkesboro Speedway and Kentucky Speedway.

Speedway Motorsports also owns and operates subsidiaries SMI Properties, U.S. Legend Cars International, Performance Racing Network and zMAX Micro Lubricants.

In January of 1997, Smith founded Sonic Automotive and took it public on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: SAH) in November of the same year. In just a few years, Smith grew Sonic into one of the nation’s largest companies, and in 2000 it was first officially recognized as a Fortune 500 company based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Sonic Automotive is now a Fortune 300 company and one of the nation’s largest automotive retailers with over 160 retail dealerships in over 23 states, representing 25 automotive brands. Since inception, Sonic Automotive dealerships have received many nationally recognized awards and accolades for exceeding customer satisfaction and automotive retail brand performance standards.

In 2014, Smith’s passion for automotive retail continued with the creation of EchoPark Automotive. A subsidiary of Sonic Automotive, EchoPark Automotive is the company’s high-growth segment rooted in providing high-quality pre-owned vehicles, while delivering a world-class guest experience. The company currently operates over 40 EchoPark Automotive locations nationwide.

Smith’s first job outside the family farm came at age 12 when he went to work at a local sawmill. Two days after graduating from Oakboro High School, Smith took a job in a hosiery mill, before he eventually made a purchase that would lead him to two successful business careers.

“I bought a race car for $700. The whole idea at that time was that I was going to be a race car driver,” Smith once explained. “I learned to drive, but that career didn’t last long.” Smith’s mother had other ideas and prayed to a higher authority. “She started fighting dirty,” laughed Smith in a 2005 interview with Motorsport.com. “You can’t fight your mom and God, so I stopped driving.”

Smith sold his first car, a 1939 Buick sedan, for a small profit and continued to sell cars from his mother’s front yard. The young entrepreneur also promoted his first race before he was 18 years old.

“There was a whole lot of unrest with the drivers and car owners at that time,” Smith continued. “We had a meeting and I was unlucky enough to be appointed a committee of one to promote a race. I had never done that, but I promoted a race in Midland, North Carolina, and I made a little bit of money, so I thought I’d try it again.”

In his early 20s, Smith’s career as a promoter and car salesman took a turn when he was drafted by the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Smith served two years stateside as a paratrooper, then returned to selling cars and promoting auto races featuring the burgeoning National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR). Through a rough era for the sport, Smith was one of the first professional promoters to pay good purses, tend to the needs of the fans and find unique ways to promote events at speedways he leased around North Carolina.

“I’m a frustrated builder who had a knack for promoting races and it’s been fun to always try and push the sport to greater heights for the fans,” Smith told the Associated Press in 2015.

In 1959, he partnered with NASCAR driver Curtis Turner and built his first permanent motorsports facility, Charlotte Motor Speedway. The track opened in June 1960 with a 600-mile race, the longest ever in NASCAR’s history.

In the years that followed, Smith found success opening several automotive dealerships. Opened in 1966, his first dealership was Frontier Ford in Rockford, Ill, where he married and started a family. While growing his automotive business, Smith’s passion for auto racing never wavered.

“I love the racing business. I want to contribute more and more,” Smith said in 2015. “You hear us preach about ‘fan friendly.’ I think that is a driver for me to just do more things. I enjoy the contributions I’ve been able to make to the sport.”

Under Smith’s innovative direction, Speedway Motorsports facilities were the first in racing to add condominiums, fine-dining Speedway Clubs, superspeedway lighting and giant high-definition video screens.

“When you think about the Charlotte Motor Speedway and Bristol, and tracks like New Hampshire and Sonoma and Atlanta, he’s been the best,” 2019 NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee and fellow automobile dealer Roger Penske told NASCAR.com in 2016. “There’s no question. He set the bar.”

“His mind is racing all the time; he’s done so much for the sport,” said Rick Hendrick, an auto dealer and fellow NASCAR Hall of Famer, in a 2016 interview with NASCAR.com. “He’s so brave to step out and try things that have never been tried before. He helped build this sport.”

Following a 2021 victory at zMAX Dragway, John Force dedicated the win to Smith.

“I love this guy and everything he’s done for our sport,” said the 16-time NHRA champion. “I’m excited I get to send this trophy home to somebody I love—a guy who built our sport.”

“I learned from my own experience that when people go to an event – like a big race – they may know who won the race, but all the other stuff they don’t remember,” Smith once said.

“I want to put something on so regardless who won the race, it will be a memorable experience. We’re here to entertain fans, and I want them to go home with a memory that will last forever.”

A true entrepreneur at heart, Smith had a passion for growing people and business. His love of the automobile and racing businesses drove him to continually build and expand, all while taking care of his family and co-workers.

Among his accolades, Smith was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame’s 2016 class. In 2007, he was inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame and he became a member of the National Motorsports Press Association Hall of Fame in 2006.

Even with his many accomplishments in motorsports, Smith often commented that the auto retail business was his first love and maintained his primary office at his Town & Country Ford dealership in Charlotte throughout his distinguished career.

“You have trophies, you have championships, you have wins, but friends are what really make the difference,” fellow NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee Darrell Waltrip said about Smith in 2019. “Bruton Smith has been one of my heroes since I started racing in NASCAR in 1972.”

In addition to his business interests, Smith founded Speedway Children’s Charities in 1982 as a memorial and legacy to his son, Bruton Cameron Smith, who passed away at a very young age. Given his experience, Smith became passionate about wanting to help children in need and Speedway Children’s Charities was created to focus on serving communities surrounding Speedway Motorsports race tracks. Speedway Children’s Charities chapters work with organizations to identify and resolve pressing issues ranging from learning disabilities and broken homes to hunger and childhood cancer.

Under Smith’s leadership, Speedway Children’s Charities has distributed more than $61 million to local organizations across the country that improve the quality of life for children in need.

Survivors include sons Scott, Marcus and David; his daughter, Anna Lisa; their mother, Bonnie Smith; and seven grandchildren. Information regarding funeral arrangements will be released at a later date.

Roush Responsible for Marquee Wins at Nashville SS

NASCAR’s initial tenure at Nashville lasted around a decade, and Jack Roush not only opened but closed out the run the Xfinity Series had there with victories. In the very first NXS race back in 2001, Greg Biffle led 133 of the 225 laps to capture one of his five series wins that season. Carl Edwards, responsible for five NXS wins at Nashville Superspeedway, won the very last NASCAR Xfinity race there, leading 124 of the 225 laps in July of 2011.

Cousin Carl Dominates in Music City

Edwards dominated in his 13 starts at Nashville, finishing top-10 in all but once race, and top five in all but two. He averaged a finish of 3.5 with five overall wins, including three-straight from 2006-07, and the final two in 2011. Driving the No. 60 entry in all 13 events, Edwards led a combined 247 laps in the first three wins, then went on to lead a combined 272 laps in the 2011 races, which stands as the last time NASCAR visited the facility.

Tale of the Tape
Overall at Nashville SS, 14 different drivers have driven for Jack Roush at the 1.33-mile track. RFK has 28 top-10s in 48 starts, 17 of which were inside the top five, with an average finish of 12th and 813 laps led.
