Clopay Joins Meyer Shank Racing for 2022 INDYCAR Season

Ohio-based firm becomes MSR’s Exclusive Garage and Entry Door Company

Pataskala, Ohio (18 March 2022) – 2021 Indianapolis 500 winners Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) will add another valued partner to its roster with the addition of Clopay, manufacturers of commercial and residential doors.

Clopay will be featured on Meyer Shank Racing’s dual IndyCar lineup, which includes four-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves (No. 06 AutoNation / SiriusXM Honda) and 2019 Indianapolis 500 winner and 2016 IndyCar Series Champion Simon Pagenaud (No. 60 AutoNation / SiriusXM Honda).

As North America’s largest garage door manufacturer, Clopay is known for its innovative and uncompromising product performance. With roots not far from MSR’s home base in Ohio, Clopay’s products are 100% US made.

MSR’s new 42,000 square foot facility in Pataskala Ohio also features Clopay garage doors throughout, giving the two-time IMSA Championship and Indianapolis 500 winning team an upgraded look.

“We’ve had the pleasure of working with Clopay before and now having them come onboard for the rest of the IndyCar season is great,” said Mike Shank. “They’ve shown their support for MSR and now we’ll do everything we can the rest of the season to give them results. We have had a lot of momentum since the 500 but we’re taking it day by day and working towards getting consistent results each race weekend.”

“From a marketing perspective, there is an obvious relationship between garage doors and cars” said Clopay Vice President of Marketing Justin Evans. “We have considered a motorsports sponsorship for a while, and were looking for the right opportunity. Clopay is thrilled to be associated with MSR, both on and off the track, and expect this partnership to significantly increase our brand awareness among loyal race fans.”

Clopay will make its debut on the Meyer Shank Racing IndyCars at this weekend’s XPEL 375 at Texas Motor Speedway (Sunday, 12:30pm ET, NBC).

Headquartered in Cumming, Ga., the Gtechniq range includes composite ceramic coatings, leather protection, fabric protection, wheel and trim protection, shampoos and much more.

The Nalley Cars 250 will mark the company’s first foray into NASCAR.

Sponsor Intel: In 2004, scientists at Gtechniq created a superior line of products aimed at perfecting all vehicle surfaces. And over the last 20 years, these products have been continually improved to provide a range that outshines and outlasts the competition.

Gtechniq’s line of surface preparation and finishing products are designed to clean, polish, and protect all automotive exteriors, in a way no traditional wax applications can match.

Settling In: Atlanta marks the fifth race that the SS GreenLight Racing with Jeff Lefcourt (SSGLRwJL) team embraces their manufacturer switch from Chevrolet to Ford while incorporating its technical alliance with Stewart-Haas Racing.

SHR will supply the organization with race cars while Roush Yates Engines will provide the legendary Ford horsepower.

In addition to providing race cars to SSGLRwJL, SHR will also provide technical support for the entire 33-race season.

Additionally, Graf will have NASCAR Cup Series and Stewart-Haas Racing drivers Cole Custer and Chase Briscoe as teammates for select events throughout the 2022 season.

Joe Graf Jr. Xfinity Series Atlanta Motor Speedway Starts: Joe Graf Jr. will make his fourth NASCAR Xfinity Series start at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway in Saturday afternoon’s Nalley Cars 250.

In his three previous Atlanta races, he finished 26th, 29th and 25th respectively. The former ARCA Menards Series winner’s previous experience at the Hampton, Ga. race track likely won’t be a factor this weekend as the track has undergone a repave and a configuration change that is presenting a series of unknowns for the drivers and teams.

Joe Graf Jr. Xfinity Series Speedway Nuggets: At tracks greater than 1.0-mile in size, Graf has competed in 35 NASCAR Xfinity Series races with an average starting position of 26.5 and an average result of 25.5.

Phoenix (Ariz.) Raceway | United Rentals 200 Race Recap: In the most recent NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Phoenix (Ariz.) Raceway, Graf contended for a track-best finish aboard his No. 07 Bucked Up Gym N’ Juice Energy Drink Ford Mustang, but a late-race hiccup hampered the team’s effort and resulted in a disappointing 27th place finish.

School Back In Session: While juggling a full-time NASCAR Xfinity Series schedule with SS GreenLight Racing with Jeff Lefcourt, college life has resumed for Joe Graf Jr.

With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Graf Jr. has resorted to online classes at the University of New York, where he is pursuing a degree in business, media and sports management.

Sneaker Mania: Along with the adrenaline of the Motorsports competition, Joe Graf Jr. also has a vogue for hype sneakers. In his current collection, he owns and wears at least 90 limited edition sneakers – and his collection continues to grow every month.

The current estimated value of his collection tops $100,000.

From the Pit Box: Industry veteran Joe Williams is Joe Graf Jr.’s crew chief.

He will crew chief his 70th NASCAR Xfinity Series race as crew chief on Saturday and his fourth at the 1.5-mile speedway.

In his previous 69 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts, he has collected one win (Auto Club Speedway | February 2022), five top-five and 16 top-10 finishes.

Hello From The Other Side: Graf Jr. has a teammate at SS GreenLight Racing with Jeff Lefcourt. Veteran David Starr will drive the No. 08 TicketSmarter Ford Mustang on Saturday for his second start of the 2022 season.

Starr is set to make his 236th career NASCAR Xfinity Series start and 10th at Atlanta Motor Speedway. His best Xfinity track finish occurred in the 2015 Hisense 250, where he finished 26th after starting 30th for TriStar Motorsports.

Joe Graf Jr. Pre-Race Quotes:

On Atlanta Motor Speedway: “I really feel like I am in the same boat as the other drivers in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, I don’t know what to expect. Everyone keeps saying the race will probably race like a Daytona or Talladega, but we won’t actually know until we put 38 cars on the track on Saturday afternoon.

“I am confident though that no matter what type of racing the track produces we’ll have the speed in our No. 07 Gtechniq Ford Mustang to contend for a strong finish.”

On Gtechniq Partnership: “I’m proud to welcome a Georgia-based company to the SS GreenLight Racing with Jeff Lefcourt family at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

“As the spring and summer months approach, everyone certainly wants their cars to look its best in the sun and Gtechniq not only offers a product that makes it happen, but they outshine and outlast their competition.

“With the new surface, Atlanta is going to be a wild card race, but I’m confident that with the speed that we have showcased this season with the support of Stewart-Haas Racing, Ford Performance and Roush Yates Engines we will be in contention for a strong finish.”

On Opening Races of 2022: “I know the results may not show a whole lot, but we have some good speed with our SS GreenLight Racing with Jeff Lefcourt race cars. We are still learning in our new relationship with Ford Performance, Stewart-Haas Racing and Roush Yates Engines.

“It wasn’t going to come magically overnight that we were going from mid-pack to contending for wins, but we are making progress. If we can continue to inch our way forward in the weeks and months ahead, I am hoping by summer we can showcase what this team is capable of on a consistent weekly basis.”

Blaney is the favorite to win the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500

Blaney is given +1000 odds, or an implied 9.1% chance to win in Atlanta this weekend. His stiffest competition is expected to be Kyle Larson, whom oddsmakers are giving +1100 odds or an 8.1% chance to win the race.

Quote from OddsChecker spokesman Kyle Newman, “In the tightest race of the year, oddsmakers are choosing to back the guy who won it last year, and his biggest rival is the guy who finished second. It’s the first time this season that oddsmakers have named last year’s 1st and 2nd place finishers in a race the top-2 favorites to win a race this season. It’s only the second time this year that a driver is favored to win a race they won last season. That just goes to show how unpredictable this weekend’s race is. Oddsmakers have nothing to split these drivers other than their previous results on this track.”

Capitalizing on Frugality with the Internet

With the onset of supply chain issues and major world events increasing the costs of everyday goods, the idea of becoming more frugal is becoming more prevalent. Becoming more frugal doesn’t just mean pinching every single penny possible, it can simply be saving small amounts on individual purchases and subscriptions here and there that sum up into significant savings. With the usage of promo codes, websites, apps, and socialization, you can save or even make money on the activities you enjoy online.

Promotions & Couponing

Whether it’s shopping for groceries or entertainment online, there exist methods for obtaining ‘free’ money online. Currently, the best way to acquire this money for you to use is through promotions via codes or events.

These promo codes come in many different forms, such as free shipping on orders, or even as far as free money for you to play with and withdraw inside online casinos. The casino promotions are among the most lucrative and can be easily found via a Google search of ‘bonus code casino’ for example to have play money to withdraw.

The more traditional methods include printing off coupons to use in-store, however, it’s just as likely that the same coupons work if you shop online.

Websites

Through the use of websites, you can use your skills or trade small amounts of your time to generate money. Among the most popular websites that offer ways of making money online are Fiverr and Amazon’s mturk.

Fiverr and other similar websites are a place where you can offer your skill in basically anything as a service for others to purchase. For example, you’ve taken a class on desktop publishing and are skilled a creating business logos. You can sell your ability to make a logo or your ability to teach how to do so to other individuals or businesses.

Mturk and other similar websites are often categorized as a ‘survey website’, and are a bit different. To make money via these websites you must spend 5-15 minutes doing surveys or other similar busy work and are paid according to the job offered. Most of these types of websites can even be done with a mobile device.

Apps

Mobile apps and web browser apps are other means to save on subscriptions and online orders without any additional effort outside of installing the app. These apps will automatically detect the websites you’re visiting and apply promotional codes and deals on checkout.

There are also apps such as Ebate that provide cashback on your online purchases. When used in conjunction with promotional codes you can save hundreds of dollars a year.

Lastly, when mentioning apps it is important to mention that some web browsers offer money, rewards, or crypto-currency to view ads whilst using them. Two good examples are the Brave browser which offers crypto-currency and Microsoft’s Edge browser offers rewards redeem for savings.

Socialization

The last method we will mention is using social networking and interactions to save online. Instead of buying a new factory model, you can instead visit social marketplaces to buy the same item at a much cheaper cost. The item will likely be used but when it comes to upgrading to new tech such as a phone it can save you hundreds.

This also extends to just asking for discounts online. You will be surprised at the number of things you can get discounted by just sending a message and asking.

To conclude, the internet offers a plethora of ways to become more frugal. Whether you are using bonus codes in online casinos, apps to reduce fees, or websites and social networking to aid in making you and your family more frugal.

Jackie Chan DC Racing Launches IMSA Campaign

Sebring, FL (18 March, 2022) –Building on eight years of success in prototype class racing internationally, Jackie Chan DC Racing will write the next chapter of the organization’s competition history by launching an IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship program starting with the 2023 season.

The team has an eight year track record of success in the WEC, ELMS, ALMS, and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans that they are looking to extend into the IMSA paddock as a full time entrant in 2023.

The team, headed by Chinese-American David Cheng in partnership with international star Jackie Chan, was first formed in 2015 and quickly moved to international prominence following a series of significant results. Jackie Chan DC Racing raced to a remarkable second place overall in the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans, part of a dramatic 1-2 team LMP2 class finish. The team has also staged campaigns in the Asian Le Mans Series, capturing both the LMP2 and LMP3 championship in 2018.

After pausing the competition effort in the wake of 2020, the team has committed to the rapidly growing IMSA platform with a debut slated for the 2023 Rolex 24 At Daytona.

“Obviously there is a ton of excitement surrounding IMSA GTP, but if you step back and look at the robust size and deep levels of talent in this paddock through all of the classes, it is really impressive,” said Cheng. “It makes for a very attractive package, both for sponsor partners and for potential clients.”

Jackie Chan DC Racing is in the final stages of planning for a new state of the art headquarters, set to be based on the West coast.

“We had to step away from the sport in 2020, but we’ve spent the time exploring opportunities to compete and I’m thrilled to be making this full time move to compete in IMSA,” said Cheng. “By establishing a new base here in North America, we can build our business and offer a tremendous experience to our customers.”

In addition to physical infrastructure, Cheng has kept an active engagement on the team building side as he looks to build on well-established talent and relationships to deliver performance.

“Even though we’ve not been competing recently, we have been able to retain or reconnect with some of the key team members from some of our biggest successes as we build our team with this fresh new focus.”

Further details surrounding the competition program that Jackie Chan DC Racing will undertake will be announced in the near future.

Jackie Chan DC Racing is also pleased to announce an alignment with the Circuit of the Northwest, a motorsports facility that is less than 20 miles from downtown Seattle. This alignment will allow Jackie Chan DC Racing CEO David Cheng as a founding member and track consultant to assist track CEO Brian Nilson as the vision of facility is realized.

Stoner Car Care Racing Finishes Second in Bronze Cup on a Wild Day at Sebring

SEBRING, Fla. (17 March 2022) – On a typically wild day for the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge at Sebring International Raceway, the Stoner Car Care Racing fielded by Automatic Racing team dodged a multitude of incidents to bring the No. 09 Stoner Car Care Aston Martin Vantage GT4 home in second position in the Bronze Cup, 18th overall in Thursday’s Alan Jay Automotive Network 120.

2022 marks the first year of Bronze Cup competition in the Grand Sport (GS) class, awarding points to the FIA Bronze-rated drivers. Both team drivers must be Bronze rated for the team to be eligible, a ranking that both Stoner Car Care drivers fulfill.

Drivers Rob Ecklin, Jr. (Lancaster, Pa.) and Ramin Abdolvahabi (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) combined to pilot the Aston Martin through numerous hazards, while taking advantage of four yellow flags to maintain a one-stop race strategy. But in the end, a late yellow meant that the Bronze Cup leader was able to make it to the end on fuel, snatching victory from the Stoner Car Care team.

Due to the “Super Sebring” schedule that saw both the FIA World Endurance Championship and the Weather Tech SportsCar Championship competing in endurance events, the Michelin Pilot Challenge field conducted its race “weekend” on Wednesday and Thursday. Abdolvahabi had qualified the No. 09 in 18th position on Wednesday and took the green flag Thursday afternoon in warm and humid conditions.

Abdolvahabi had barely settled in when the first yellow flag flew – unfortunately, for the Automatic Racing sister car, the No. 27 Aston Martin. On the restart, Abdolvahabi took the measure of the Bronze cup leader and took the lead on lap seven. As cars began to cycle through pits cycles 45 minutes into the race, he continued to climb through the field, taking seventh position.

But as the yellows began to multiply, the team embarked on an inventive strategy: conserve fuel and make it to the end on only one stop. A cause for concern regarding that strategy came with just under an hour remaining, when two cars came together close enough to the previous yellow that IMSA officials did not open pit lane.

With extensive wall repair necessitated by the incident, and with the team perilously close on fuel – and on drive time, as each driver is required to drive a minimum of 40 minutes – crew members breathed a collective sigh of relief as IMSA opened pit lane. Abdolvahabi came in with 48 minutes remaining for four tires and fuel and the change to Ecklin. But with the field bunched up, the Aston Martin came back out in 20th position.

With the Bronze Cup leader running P11, Ecklin had his work cut out. He kept his head down and focused forward, hoping to run green the rest of the way in case the Bronze Cup leader ran out of fuel. But it was not to be, as a late yellow ruined the strategy.

But both drivers came away from the race with plenty of positives on the day.

“That was a crazy day,” said Ecklin. “It was a wild stint. There were cars everywhere, spinning, facing you, connecting, knocking each other off. We dodge some serious bullets, congrats to Ramin as well. I’m happy I was able to pick my positions, keep the car clean and bring it home after a very competitive race. The car was so consistent, it really could have kept going.”

“We didn’t get that many green laps,” said Abdolvahabi. “I was able to pass the Bronze Cup leader early but there were so many long yellows, though that initially played into our hands. We were in good position there near the end, but the racing gods didn’t cooperate with that late yellow. The car was there, the strategy was there, but we needed a bit of luck. But it was a good race for me – at least it was fun when it was green! It was good points for the Bronze Cup, and there are plenty of races remaining.”

Next up for the Stoner Car Care Racing Team will be the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca 120 on Saturday April 20, live on Peacock TV.

AUSTIN DILLON QUOTES:
Atlanta Motor Speedway is an intermediate track designed to race like a superspeedway. How do you think the Next Gen car will race there?
“I have no clue on this one. I watched a couple laps of the test that they had, and I’ve heard people say that we’re going to be wide open and speedway racing on a mile and a half, and it’s gripped up. We’ll just have to see what that really is like. I just hope it’s not a train race because Atlanta Motor Speedway has been a great track in the past with the old, worn-out asphalt. Our best races have come from places that have ancient asphalt that tears up tires. It can be a great race or it could be a race where we just try to make it through it. I’m assuming with it being speedway-style and handling is up, there’s going to be some aggressive driving and some blocks made, and there’s potential to wipe out a bunch of cars. We’ll just see how it works out.”

You’ve been in the NASCAR Cup Series fulltime since 2014. When you think about your evolution as a driver, how much would you say you’ve grown?
“I definitely feel like I’ve gotten more experienced in the NASCAR Cup Series over the years. I’ve been doing this for a while now. I’ve grown as a human in general from the time I came into this sport until now. I think the experience pays off in certain situations. I feel pretty good where I’m at right now. I don’t think I would go back in time if I could. It would be nice if I would have known some of the unknowns during my early years. Experience wise, I wouldn’t trade a minute of what I’ve gained. I’m still willing to go run it 200 mph into the corner, flip into a catchfence, and go race the next weekend. I haven’t lost any of the drive and I’m enjoying where I’m at. I think I’ve got some good years ahead of me with the experience I’ve gained over all of these years, and with all the changes to these cars. I’ve seen a lot of different things, such as different guys leaving the sport and coming into the sport. Overall, I love where I’m at.”

This Week’s 3CHI Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 at Atlanta Motor Speedway … Tyler Reddick will make his fourth start at Atlanta Motor Speedway in the NASCAR Cup Series this Sunday in the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500. His first start at the Georgia track came in 2020 for Richard Childress Racing. Most recently, Reddick finished sixth in the Fall race at Atlanta last season after starting from the seventh position. In the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Reddick made two starts at Atlanta with a best finish of fifth in 2019. In the NASCAR Truck Series, he also made two starts at the track with a best finish of fifth coming in 2015.

Movin’ On Up … Last weekend at Phoenix Raceway, Reddick and the No. 8 3CHI Chevrolet team grabbed their first top-five finish of the season. Reddick finished third and battled for the win at the end of the race. In four races so far this season, Reddick had one top five and two top 10s and has led 90 laps. Each week, his results get better. Reddick also jumped to the No. 1 spot in the NASCAR Power Rankings after his performance last week.

3CHI Blazes the Trail for Another Industry First … 3CHI and Richard Childress Racing created another first with their partnership for the 2022 NASCAR season. 3CHI began with roots as a CBD producer and quickly became a pioneer in science-based hemp and cannabis innovation. TYLER REDDICK QUOTES:
You earned a third-place finish at Phoenix Raceway last weekend, coming up just a little bit short of winning. How has that motivated you heading into a new race weekend?
“It may not have been the win that we are working toward, but it was a really great day at Phoenix Raceway, and It was a lot of fun. It was a great feeling to claw back from the earlier hiccup in that race. Everyone on this No. 8 team just never gives up, never stops grinding. One miscue took us from second to 12th and we were able to rally back to the front because of how good our pit crew was and how fast our car was. That’s a nod to my team and the guys at the shop. To be battling for the win like that is even more motivation. We have continued to learn from every race and implement that to the next one. These cars are challenging to drive and it’s hard to know how hard you can push it sometimes, but it’s been a challenge that we’ve faced head on, and the results are showing it. The motivation has always been there. It just gets greater and greater each week, especially when you’re battling for a win. No one really knows what to expect this weekend so practice and qualifying will be crucial but I’m ready and excited for it.”

With the new Next Gen car and the new configuration at Atlanta Motor Speedway, how do you think the race on Sunday will play out?
“It’s a headscratcher for me. My understanding is that it’s going to be a completely new experience, not just from the old Atlanta but just the style of racing that we’ve ever had across any of the speedways before. It’s going to have the banking to hold you in the corners like a speedway, but you don’t have long straightaways. Especially at Atlanta, the corners have always been long there, carrying a lot of speed at that racetrack even as the old surface aged. I truly don’t know what it means. I don’t know if it’s going to feel and drive just like the old 550 package did, I don’t know if it will be a race like that. I don’t know if it’s going to be a true, straight up superspeedway race either. For us and where we’re at compared to the Fords and Toyotas, I’m really hoping it isn’t a superspeedway-type style of race even though we are operating with that horsepower package because we definitely can’t lock up as well, push as well, as the Toyotas and Fords can. Even at a place like Daytona, me and my teammate Austin Dillon were trying to do what the Fords were, and we about crashed four or five times. So, at a place like Atlanta, that will be even more challenging so it could be a very interesting race for us. I don’t know how it’s going to play out, but practice is 50 minutes, and it will really show us what the race will look like.”

SHELDON CREED QUOTE:
What are you anticipating the race at Atlanta on Saturday to look like?
“I’m really excited to get down to Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend. The track has been repaved and redesigned so it will be brand new for everyone. I don’t think anyone really knows what to expect. I think our Whelen Chevrolet will be fast and I’m really confident we can bounce back after a tough weekend at Phoenix. Hopefully we can start putting together a string of solid finishes beginning this weekend in Atlanta.”

AUSTIN HILL QUOTES:
What are you expecting the racing to be like this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway?
“I’ve done some simulator time with Chevy and it looks like you’re wide-open on this new Atlanta configuration. The one thing I’d compare it to would be like running Trucks at Michigan. When we ran Trucks at Michigan you were wide-open but aero was a big thing and keeping clean air was huge. With Atlanta being a hometown race for me I want to go win it.”

This is a big race for your primary sponsor, Bennett Transportation and Logistics, which is located in nearby McDonough.
“Bennett Transportation and Logistics is located 15 minutes down the road from Atlanta Motor Speedway. There’s going to be a lot of guests at the track this weekend and I want to do well for them. I think this is a huge deal for those folks so to be able to go out there and run up front all day is important. I can’t wait to see all the guests that they have at the track. I think it’s going to be a cool weekend.”
