Jimco vehicles on display at 2021 Mint 400 Off-Road Festival in downtown Las Vegas

Jimco Racing will return to the 2021 BFGoodrich Tires Mint 400 as a supporting sponsor of the Great American Off-Road Race, Mint 400 officials announced today. Jimco’s all-conquering off-road vehicles, a mainstay of the event, will not only be competing during the race in Primm, but will also be on display as part of the Mint 400 Off-Road Festival on Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas before the race.

“Jimco vehicles have been a mainstay of the Mint 400 for nearly half a century,” said Mint 400 CEO Matt Martelli. “We’re excited to once again be able to welcome Jimco Racing as a partner of this year’s BFGoodrich Tires Mint 400, and we look forward to watching Jimco builds compete in our premier race classes with some of the most competitive teams in the sport, including the Unlimited Truck class with former overall Mint 400 winner Justin Lofton.”

Founded by Navy engineer Jim Julson in 1975, Jimco Racing has evolved from crafting hobby-level, one-off race cars into to an award-winning one-stop shop for professional racing teams. The first Jimco chassis was a class 9, 1200cc single seat car for both father and son to campaign. With what was at first just another race team quickly became more. With the sleek lines of the car and the success on the race track, Jimco soon had a following of both good drivers and talented fabricators and mechanics.

Robbie Pierce, who bought Jimco in 2018 from the Julson family, has been around the off-road racing industry for decades. He’s owned other race component manufacturing businesses that were suppliers to Jimco, such as Mastercraft Safety and Impact Racing Products. Pierce is also an Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame Inductee for his innovations and commitment to safety in off-road motorsports, and also developed mass-production methods for welding titanium golf club heads and aerospace components. Pierce’s experience isn’t just in fabrication and safety equipment, however; he’s also a competitor racing a Trophy Truck (a 900-horsepower, tube-chassis, off-road racing machine).

The Mint 400 has held the title of the toughest, most spectacular off-road race in North America since 1968 when it was first run. Initially, the race was a public relations event promoting the Mint Hotel’s annual deer hunt. but what started out as a hotel promotion soon grew into a legitimate desert race. Since its 2008 revival, “The Great American Off-Road Race” has only gotten bigger and more prestigious, and deeper fields every year only make it tougher to win.

SEAVEY WINS HANGTOWN 100 FINALE – ROOKIE GASPER WINS CLS CHAMPIONSHIP

(Upland, CA, November 24, 2021) Logan Seavey won the three-night battle and his second main event in the California Lightning Sprint Car Series/Bay Cities Racing Association co-sanctioned “Hangtown 100” last Saturday night at the Placerville Speedway. At the same time, rookie David Gasper of Santa Barbara won the eight-month, 17 race war and was crowned 2021 California Lightning Sprint Car Series champion.

Driving the Kittle Motorsports/Gasper Racing/Valley Precision Products/#18, the 16-year-old became the 18th different champion in the 27-season history of the CLS. Not only did he win the season long CLS championship, but earlier in the week he sewed up the title in the annual four-race CLS vs BCRA “Civil /War Series.” In addition, he is the CLS “Rookie of the Year.”

The night started out with a pair of 10-car, 12-lap qualifying races featuring the top 20 in points from the first two nights. The odd number positions were in heat qualifier #1 and the even numbers were in qualifier two. The races were lined straight up by points with the top five finishers in each moving into the final night main event. Drivers finishing sixth on back in the qualifiers, went to a pair of B mains where they were joined by the drivers who were not among the top 20 in points.

San Diego’s A.J. Bender, who finished second in the main events on the first two nights, was the high-point driver and he won the first qualifier over Palmdale’s Eric Greco, Dominic Del Monte of Gardena, Jeff “Ponch” Dyer of Yucca Valley and 14-year-old Braden Chiaramonte of El Cajon.

Seavey, who was fresh off a win in the USAC National Sprint Car Series “Western World Championship” the week before at the Arizona Speedway, and Gasper were both in the second qualifier. Seavey captured the victory over Bellingham, Washington’s Alex Lewis. Gasper, Waterford’s Dakota Albright, and Langley, British Columbia’s Levi Klatt took the other two transfers.

The final 12 tickets to the 30-lap finale would be determined in two B main events. The first of the two went to Lakeside teenager Grant Sexton. Chris Crowder of Colorado Springs, Colorado, who won the main event the night before, track specialist Scott Kinney of Citrus Heights, Placerville local Brandon Leedy, James Turnbull of Indio and Rancho Cordova’s Craig Holsted nailed down the other transfer spots.

Emulating his son’s performance in the first B main, Lakeside’s Brent Sexton came home first in B main #2. Chasing the Tennessee native across the line in the final five transfer spots were Danika’Jo Parker of Oakdale, Doug Nunes of Kingsburg, Freemont’s Greg Dennett, and the Placerville duo of Tony Fedota and Tyler Gedes.

Gasper came into the final race of the year with a comfortable 76-point lead over Greco in the championship point standings. His advantage got a further boost when he was off the pole for the 30-lap main event. Del Monte was alongside on the front row. Row two featured Lewis and Greco. Seavey manned the inside of the third row and had Bender alongside. Row four featured Dyer and soon to be first time BCRA champion Albright.

When the race began Gasper was the first to arrive in turn one with Del Monte, Greco, and Lewis in tow. By the end of the fifth lap, Gasper was a half straightaway in front of the competition. Seconds later the first halt in the race, that ended up being plagued by yellow and red flags, took place. Chiaramonte, who was having a tough week, saw his night end when he flipped in turn four. Simultaneously there was a three-car tangle in turn two. All drivers were okay, and the race resumed a few minutes later.

When the race restarted Gasper immediately put some distance on the remainder of the field. The brilliant blue #18 had things fully under control and the championship was in his grasp, but suddenly disaster struck. One of the cars near the back of the pack slid to a stop in turn one bringing out a yellow. Gasper tried to drive around him on the top and stopped for one or two seconds. He quickly got going again and was driving back to his lofty position at the front when officials informed him that he would have to go to the rear for stopping. When Gasper went to the back, that gave a glimmer of hope to Greco’s title aspirations as the former leader was going to have to deal with a lot of cars and chaos at the rear.

Del Monte was the new leader and Greco was second. Seavey, who had moved up to the third-place spot before the yellow, immediately picked up the pace on the restart. Running the wide line, he steered the John Taylor/Bullet Motorsports/Eldorado Landscape/Adco Driveline and Custom Exhaust/Jake Morgan Graphics/Superior Machine Works #51 past Greco for second as they came off turn four on lap ninth. Keeping his momentum up on the quarter-mile red clay oval, he drove by Del Monte for the lead on the same spot on the track one lap later.

Chasing his first BCRA title, Albright moved by Lewis and into the fourth spot on lap 12. Two laps later he lost a battle with the turn four cushion and spun. Like CLS point leader Gasper earlier in the race, he had to go to the back.

Greco, who tied Bender for the most wins in the CLS this year with four, got past Del Monte for second and was doing a good job of staying close to leader Seavey. However, with three laps to go, he had to deal with Bender. Using the outside line, Bender had the #2J flying and became engaged in a fierce battle that included some wheel banging for the second-place spot. That battle eventually went to Bender, but it was too late to catch Seavey who took the checkered flag with an eight-length advantage. Bender placed second for the third straight night, with Greco, Kinney and Lewis rounding out the top five.

Kinney was the race “Hard Charger” finishing fourth after starting 15th.

After the race, Seavey jumped out of his car and began looking under the rear end. “I pushed on the brakes real hard to avoid a crashed car,” the happy winner told the crowd. “I ripped one of my brake mounts off and I could feel it dragging on the ground. I was just hoping we could make it to the end. John (car owner John Taylor) built one of the nicest Lightning Sprints in the world and he called and asked me to drive. Obviously, I was not going to tell him no. It was a really fun weekend and I won two races.”

Gasper’s 76-point lead going into the finale was whittled down to 29-points at the end. Greco ended up second in the final tally and was followed by Turnbull, Dyer and Bender in the top five. The second five in the season ending standings was comprised of Del Monte, “Rockstar Jon Robertson of Torrance, Chino’s Pat Kelley, Aiden Lange of Lakewood and five time series champion Bobby Michnowicz of Oak Hills.

“It was a long season,” Gasper said after getting out of his car. “We never did anything in circles (never raced on oval tracks), so it was a whole learning curve. A lot of people helped us out throughout the year. I cannot thank them enough. Kittle Motorsports, man, I cannot thank them enough. A lot of opportunities they have given to me. Of course, my mom and dad for everything they do. My Dad working in the garage all night getting this thing dialed in. My mom scheduling rooms at hotels and taking up shifts to be able to afford this. If it wasn’t for Rowdy and Dwain Granger having the set up right for qualifying and races, I don’t think I would be up here without them, so I cannot thank them enough.”

“My dad won a couple of car owner championships with me driving,” new BCRA king Albright said after the race. “So, it is an honor to join (to join him as a champion). We had a good run going. Just drove to hard in on the cushion in three and lost fourth. I thought we could have gotten up there a little higher. Congratulations to Logan, A.J. and Eric.”

Federico Gutiérrez to make Rette Jones Racing driving debut in Thanksgiving Classic

MOORESVILLE, N.C.: The 2021 racing season for Rette Jones Racing (RJR) isn’t complete just yet.

The organization will field an entry for Federico Gutiérrez, the younger brother of Rette Jones Racing development driver Max Gutiérrez in Saturday afternoon’s Late Model Thanksgiving Classic at Southern National (N.C.) Motorsports Park (SNMP).

Gutiérrez’s debut in the Pro Late Model event will mark his first experience in a Motorsports sanctioned event in the United States.

The 15-year-old has been successfully building a career in his home country of Mexico, where currently he stands second in the Truck Mexico Series of NASCAR Peak Mexico Series presented by Telcel championship standings with two races remaining the weekend of December 4, 2021.

Gutiérrez will be guided by Rette Jones Racing co-owner and former ARCA championship crew chief Mark Rette.

The Mooresville, N.C.-based team started off the year with monstrous results when Max Gutiérrez scored his first ARCA Menards Series East victory in the season-opening race at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway in February.

“I’m very excited but also a little nervous at the same time,” said Federico Gutiérrez. “I am very thankful for this opportunity to compete in a Late Model at Southern National this weekend. This type of racing is very new to me, but I feel like I have taken the necessary steps to prepare myself for a successful racing debut in the USA.”

These aforementioned repair cost savings is also aided by computer-based diagnostics implemented inside EVs. These systems allow for a much more simplified approach to diagnosing and troubleshooting car-related malfunctions, which in turn lowers the overall cost of maintenance and labor hours spent on repair. Simple ambiguous warnings such as the ‘check engine’ light will instead be replaced with detailed reports and information about the exact issue the vehicle is having.

SEBRING, Florida (November 24, 2021) – The Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) Classic Sebring 12 Hour, Pistons and Props, makes a high-speed return on the track and in the air next week when Sebring International Raceway’s illustrious sports car racing history and patriotic aviation heritage will be honored for the sixth time, December 1 – 5, at HSR’s season-ending event.

Officially titled the HSR Classic Sebring 12 Hour, Pistons and Props, presented by the Alan Jay Automotive Network, the five-day celebration features historic and vintage sports car racing and a Friday “fly-in” and weekend display of equally awe-inspiring military and civilian aircraft from the last half century and World War II era.

The HSR Classic Sebring honors the legendary 12 Hours of Sebring sports car race and the facility’s rich aviation history. Hendricks Field was a World War II era civil and military air field on which the famous 12-hour sports car race has been run for nearly 70 years.

The aviation component of the 2020 HSR Classic Sebring 12 Hour was not held due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the planes and their pilots are back this year with some truly priceless treasures flying in to join the event for the first time.

Several four-wheel competitors also arrive in Sebring set to add more race wins to already successful 2021 HSR campaigns.

A battle to watch will be in Run Group B where avid racer and Ford Motor Company CEO Jim Farley is a favorite to end a run of three-straight HSR Classic Sebring victories by Gray Gregory and his 1974 No. 26 Chevron B26 prepared by Phil Reilly and Co.

Farley competes in his RM Motorsports-prepared 1978 No. 198 Lola T298 (pictured at top), which is appropriately powered by a Ford Cosworth engine similar to the powerplant in Gregory’s Chevron. Farley drove the Lola to an HSR WeatherTech Sprint race victory last April at the HSR Mitty at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. He also picked up an HSR B.R.M. Endurance Challenge overall win in the Lola at Road Atlanta in 2018.

A must-see airplane scheduled to debut at the HSR Classic Sebring is the pristine 1938 Lockheed 12A Junior (pictured above) of David Marco. This Lockheed 12 was originally purchased by Phillips 66 as a corporate aircraft and is one of only eight still flying today.

Another debuting airplane is the 1941 Stearman (pictured below) Roger Brown has owned since 1990 and flown extensively throughout the United States, visiting all 48 contiguous States. Brown’s Stearman, which carries tail number NC33NA, is one of nearly 10,000 built for the U.S. Military by Boeing during World War II. It was used in war years training Air Force cadets and was sold as surplus after the war, spending the next two decades as a crop duster in Oregon.

The major on-track part of the HSR Classic Sebring is the 12 Hours of Sebring tribute race that takes place Saturday and Sunday. It begins with a symbolic 12 hours of non-stop competition Saturday before all four competing Run Groups contest a final round of races Sunday morning to bring the Classic Sebring 12 Hour to a finish.

The race weekend also features the HSR Sebring Historics that will determine the 2021 Champions of the full-season WeatherTech Sprint, Stoner Car Care Global GT, Sasco Sports International/American Challenge and B.R.M. Endurance Challenge series.

The Sebring Historics has attracted a strong entry of Stock Car competitors in Group 8. The lineup includes veteran HSR competitor Jack Finch who is looking for his second-straight HSR victory after driving his 2002 No. 22 Dodge Charger (pictured below) to a WeatherTech Sprint victory in October’s Fall Historics at Road Atlanta.

The victory earned Finch the Historic Stock Car More Driven by Goodyear bonus, which awards four Goodyear D4920 vintage stock radials to the winners of select HSR Group 8 races.

Yet another high-flying gem set for its Sebring debut is the glistening 1951 Cessna 195A (pictured below) piloted by Frank Gallagher. Cessna N1032D has a basic and worn blue trim that perfectly complements the polished aluminum of the rest of the airframe. Maintaining the amazing shine is a true labor of love, including an annual polish requiring about 45 hours and continuous washes and touchups throughout the year.

Hamilton or Verstappen: Who Will Win the 2021 F1 Drivers Championship?

With just a handful of races to go, the end of the F1 season is in sight. While the Drivers Championship has usually been a formality for Lewis Hamilton to win in recent years, he has faced stiff competition this season in the form of Max Verstappen. 

In fact, Red Bull’s Verstappen is currently in a points lead over the seven-time champion Hamilton. Yet after his stunning victory at the thrilling – and oftentimes controversial – Brazilian Grand Prix, where he rose from the tenth position to take the chequered flag, Mercedes’ Hamilton is right in contention to win a record-breaking eighth title. 

It might be a two-horse race, but it has been many years since the F1 Drivers Championship has had such an exciting conclusion. The only question is: who will end up being the champion? According to current odds from Betway, it’s too close to call with three races remaining. 

Verstappen still retains the lead 

Crucially, Verstappen is the one who holds a small yet significant points advantage in the race to the title. With three races to go at the time of writing, he is currently 14 points ahead of Hamilton. This means the title is his to lose. 

It also means that Hamilton has to keep chasing him down. With so few races left, even one slip-up could hand the title to Verstappen. Whereas if Verstappen were to suffer a DNF in one race, he could win the other two and still walk away with the championship. 

Hamilton may have to win all remaining races

Out of the season’s 19 previous races, Verstappen and Hamilton have finished in the top two spots eleven times. If that trend continues for the last three races of the season, it means that Hamilton has to realistically win all three. 

25 points are awarded to the race winner, 18 points to second place. An additional point is also supplied to those with the fastest lap. Putting aside the bonus point, if Hamilton were to win the next two races with Verstappen as runner-up, that would leave them level on points with one race to go. That means he’d also likely have to finish ahead of Verstappen again in the final race. 

The experience is with Hamilton 

There’s a serious argument to be made that Hamilton is the greatest F1 driver of all time. He has won six of the last seven Drivers Championships. In comparison, 24-year-old Verstappen, 12 years Hamilton’s junior, has yet to win his maiden title, finishing third in both the 2019 and 2020 seasons. 

Experience is firmly in Hamilton’s corner, and this could prove the difference in this titanic battle between the two best drivers in F1 today. Add in the fact that Hamilton is benefiting from a fresh new engine, one that gave him a notable performance boost in Brazil, and there are plenty of reasons why Hamilton should be viewed as the favorite despite the current points deficit between the two.

Riding a motorcycle is an unbeatable experience. Nothing compares to the feeling of freedom you get when you are out on the road. However, with that sensation also comes some risk. Riding a motorcycle can be dangerous if you aren’t careful. The problem is that a motorcycle driver is not nearly as protected as somebody driving a car. 

You need to take extra precautions to make sure you stay safe. There are a lot of things to be aware of when riding a motorcycle so it pays to know about them ahead of time. In this article, we will go over what you should be doing to stay safe on a motorcycle. 

1 – Be visible

The biggest safety issue facing most motorcycle riders is coming from other drivers. It is much harder to see a motorcycle on the road than another car, so you need to make yourself visible. 

This means that you should wear a brightly colored safety vest over your safety gear. It may not make you look cool, but at least other drivers will see you coming. In addition, you should install plenty of moto lights so you are easily seen at night or during the twilight hours. 

Make sure to stay out of a driver’s blind spots as well. If you are driving beside a car, stay behind them enough to not be stuck in a spot where they can’t see you in their mirror. 

2 – Inspect the bike before riding

Go over your motorcycle to make sure there aren’t things that are not working. A flat tire could spell disaster when you are out on the road so check the tires first. Then, make sure that all your lights are working so that you are visible to other drivers. 

There could also be mechanical issues so watch out for some signs that the motorcycle is not running properly. Check the floor under the motor and take note of any fresh oil that may be there. This means that you have something wrong and shouldn’t ride it until a mechanic has taken a look at it. 

3 – Check the weather

Bad weather is not only unpleasant to ride in, it is downright dangerous. You need to understand the conditions to expect before you head out on your ride. If it is cold, black ice will easily cause an accident even if you are the only one on the road. When temps drop quickly after it rains or snow melts then you are likely to encounter it.

Even light rain can be deadly as your tires don’t have much contact with the asphalt. Light rain can bring the oil on the road to the surface and make for a very slick road. Knowing this ahead of time can save you from driving in a dangerous situation. 

If you look online at the forecast and see less than ideal conditions, then think about taking a car that day and waiting out the weather.

Nashville Superspeedway staff members will be at several locations throughout Champion’s Week, with fans encouraged to stop by for giveaway items and to register to win tickets and prizes for the June 24-26, 2022, NASCAR tripleheader weekend, featuring the Ally 400 NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday, June 26.

Delaney Gray, a 9-year-old bandolero racer, has signed with MPM Marketing

COLUMBIA, S.C. – (Nov. 24, 2021) – Delaney Gray has a lot to be thankful for during this time of the year, but now she has even more reason to be thankful.

Gray, a 9-year-old bandolero racer from La Grange, N.C., has signed with McCallister Precision Marketing. Gray will work with the MPM Marketing team to help further her career as she begins her climb up the racing ranks.

“MPM Marketing is very excited to add this young lady to our list of clients,” said MPM Marketing founder Tonya McCallister. “Delaney and her parents are very dedicated and our team is looking forward to working with them to help Delaney prepare for her future in racing.”

Gray is just beginning to get her feet wet in the racing world by racing a bandolero. She competed this year during the Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway and recently made her debut at Goodyear All American Speedway in Jacksonville, N.C.

During her time racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Gray helped raise money to support Speedway Children’s Charities. By the end of the summer, Gray had raised a whopping $10,010 for the charity, more than any other bandolero team.

“I’m really happy to work with Tonya and MPM Marketing,” Gray said. “Tonya has been very nice to talk to so far and she has a lot of experience. I think it’ll be great to work with her next season while I keep racing and gaining experience.”

Gray isn’t done racing this year as she heads to Southern National Motorsports Park in Kenly, N.C., this weekend to compete during the Thanksgiving Classic on Nov. 26-28.
