TOKYO, Nov 24, 2021 – (JCN Newswire) – Following a long line of significant model announcements already this year including the Super Cub, Monkey, CB500F, CB500X, CBR500R and NT1100, Honda reveals its full 2022 European motorcycle line-up in Milan. The line-up includes a very special, limited edition super sports flag ship, a brand new adventure scooter and a host of colour options and graphics throughout the range.

CBR1000RR-R Fireblade, Fireblade SP and Fireblade SP 30th Anniversary

Headlining Honda’s EICMA line-up is the new CBR1000RR-R Fireblade, Fireblade SP and Fireblade SP 30th Anniversary.

To celebrate the original, ground-breaking Fireblade and 30 years of continuous challenges since the introduction of that 1992 game-changer, a stunning Limited Edition 30th Anniversary version of the Fireblade SP will be available in 2022. Its tricolour paint scheme pays faithful homage to the original, with the ultra-modern feel of the 20YM stripe layout merged with ‘brushstroke’ style elements of the 1992 machine.

The Fireblade SP will also be available in two standard paint options, Grand Prix Red and Matte Pearl Morion Black, both now with gold wheels, while the Fireblade itself wears an updated Grand Prix Red paint scheme with prominent white number boards on the front fairing.

The changes are more than skin deep, with technical changes to the 160kW inline four-cylinder engine that focus on improving mid-corner acceleration and drive. The final drive sprocket also goes up 3 teeth, to 43, further boosting acceleration through each ratio. Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) has been optimised for refined rear tyre traction management with input from HRC’s riders, and throttle feel even further refined.

A new material and surface finish for the Fireblade’s front Nissin brake calipers’ pistons improves braking performance and consistency in race conditions. The Fireblade SP’s Ohlins Smart Electronic Control (SE-C) and Brembo equipment continue to offer top-draw suspension and braking, alongside a newly optimised quick shifter.

ADV350

The success of the X-ADV – the best-selling Honda motorcycle in Europe in 2021 – now sees Honda’s forward-thinking filter down to the mid-capacity scooter market. The new ADV350, built at Honda’s Atessa factory in Italy, mixes the sophistication of a premium scooter with the ability to deal with the roughest of tarmac, and comes wrapped in rugged adventure styling.

The unique look comes hand in hand with optimum practicality and a rich specification sheet. There’s underseat storage space for two full-face helmets, plus a USB charger in the glovebox and the convenience of Smart Key operation. The screen is height-adjustable and the LCD instrument panel also integrates the Honda Smartphone Voice Control system. Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) is fitted as standard.

The ADV350’s 330cc, enhanced Smart Power+ (eSP+) SOHC four-valve engine delivers peak power of 21.5kW and 31.5Nm torque. The chassis features motorcycle-style USD forks, tubular steel frame, remote reservoir rear shocks and ample ground clearance. Lightweight 15-inch front and 14-inch rear wheels wear block-pattern tubeless tyres.

The ADV350 will be available in Spangle Silver Metallic, Mat Carbonium Gray Metallic and Mat Carnelian Red Metallic

NT1100

Making its public debut after being announced in October 2021, the NT1100 ushers in a New Touring era for Honda. Taking the heart of the CRF1100L Africa Twin as a base, engaging handling and characterful engine performance is guaranteed. The NT1100 builds on the platform to offer outstanding comfort and weather protection, making it equally ready for an extended two-up tour as it is for the weekday commute.

Practicality is guaranteed with sizable integrated panniers, heated grips, centre stand, cruise control and USB and ACC charging sockets all standard equipment. Lighting is full LED with Daytime Running Lights for increased visibility, plus self-cancelling indicators and Emergency Stop Signals. Screen height is 5-way adjustable, and upper and lower wind deflectors work with the generous fairing to protect the rider. A 6.5-inch TFT touch screen provides full colour, customisable displays and offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Seat height is a very manageable 820mm; tank range is approximately 400km. Sleek, subtle styling with the key words of ‘proactive comfort’ delivers efficient aerodynamic performance with a riding position tailored for enjoyable touring.

The NT1100’s steel semi-double cradle frame employs a short wheelbase, 17″ wheels and sharp steering geometry while premium suspension is via 43mm Showa cartridge-type inverted front forks and single-tube rear shock. 310mm front brake discs are paired with 4-piston radial-mount calipers. Intake and exhaust are tuned for smooth acceleration and pleasing low-rpm sound; maximum power and torque figures are 74kW and 104Nm respectively. The electronic package includes 3 default Rider Modes and 3-level Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC). Honda’s unique Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) is an option.

The NT1100 is available in 3 contemporary colour options: Matte Iridium Gray Metallic, Pearl Glare White and Graphite Black.

The Hornet

Honda is also pleased to confirm that the illustrious Hornet name will return to its line-up in the near future. The Hornet has been renowned for delivering exhilarating engine performance and agility matched to cutting edge street-fighter styling since the model was first introduced in Europe in 1998.

A sneak preview of the concept direction for the new incarnation of the Hornet will be available for visitors to EICMA. Showcased in a special area within the Honda stand, projection mapping is used to full effect in a vivid 3D display of light and sound that both looks back at previous Hornet generations, and forward to what is to come.

MRS-GT Racing GT3 Cup 992 Podium Finish at Inaugural 24Hour of Sebring

Sebring, FLORIDA – November 23, 2021 – The inaugural Hankook Tires 24Hour of Sebring produced a textbook example of Endurance Racing and a fine result for the MRS-GT Racing team, who capped off their racing season in North America with a well-deserved runners-up spot in the GTX class. MRS-GT entered two cars in the race, with the No. 987 Porsche GT3 Cup 992 car driven by Jeff Courtney, Alexander Marmureanu, Omar Balkissoon and Sebastian Moreno finishing second in class on podium. The No. 989 Porsche GT3 Cup 992 driven by Raulino Kreis, Jr., Pedro Torres, Robert Lorndale and Jeronimo Guzman led just under half the race before an unfortunate early retirement.

MRS-GT Racing is the German Sports Car outfit with a terrific record in Porsche GT and sports car racing in Europe. A close ally of Porsche Motorsport, Team MRS has no fewer than 16 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup and 911 GT3 R race cars participating in various series around the world – supplemented by their entry in this year’s Yokohama Porsche Cup. The German outfit has already competed for over 13-years in the 24H SERIES, most recently picking up a 991-class podium finish at the season opener in Dubai with Saif Alameri, Jukka Honkavuori and three-time overall event winner Jeroen Bleekemolen before switching to the brand-new 992-gen Porsche 911 GT3 Cup for the Hankook 12H HOCKENHEIMRING. Alameri, Nikolai Gadetskii and Thierry Vermeulen went on to secure 5th in-class at the Hockeheim round.

The effort is spearheaded by the brilliant Karsten Molitor. The MRS-GT chief expressed delight with the Sebring weekend, “I’m really happy and proud to have been part of the first ever 24-hour race for sports cars at Sebring. It was under difficult circumstances because we had some logistical issues but it turns out that driving for MRS was the best idea you can have because our team has complete experience and we were ready to go at the track on the first day.” Reflecting on the weekend’s action he added, “We had some issues. We had an accident but in the end all our Drivers were unbelievably happy and this is the positive thing I’m going to take from here.”

Intermittent showers throughout the 24 hours meant a wet track for much of the race while logistical issues in the build-up provided a challenging weekend for everyone. The start of the race was delayed but it nevertheless proved a triumph for MRS-GT. The Sebring surface is a mixture of new and old concrete with little irrigation on a very flat surface, and the rain showers that visited the track intermittently gave a wet track for durations of the race.

Karsten added, “The staff on track are brilliant. They’re giving everything. The track is not easy in the rain because there is no drainage so there was a lot of standing water which creates aquaplaning which we don’t have so much in Europe. But the people at the track did everything so we could continue. In general, we like the rain! We had some mistakes in the dry but not in the rain. Sebring is well known for good weather but this weekend we had ‘liquid sunshine’ but it was great.”

The late-day race start meant it was dark about an hour after the race went green but improved lighting at Sebring International Raceway meant visibility remained good. The 987 MRS-GT improved its position steadily through the race and with just over four hours to go, the race restarted behind the pace car with Sebastian Moreno behind the wheel after a refuelling stop. At that point the car had completed 377 laps for position P2 in class behind only the Lamborghini Huracan and had set a best lap of 2:08:565. With 70 minutes remaining on the clock, Alexander Marmureanu had taken over from Jeff Courtney with the car closing in on P13 with the Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage driven by Roman de Angelis in the pits. Marmureanu was able to overhaul the Aston and quickly put 7 laps between the MRS GT car and his rival. He then guided the car home for P13 overall and P2 in class for a place on the podium.

Early on, the No. 989 MRS GT Porsche was running P8 overall and P1 in class, looking set for a highly placed finish. Jeronimo Guzman pitted for fuel and handed it over to Brazilian driver Raulino Kreis, Jr. During the early morning around 3:40 a.m. at the end of his driving stint, Kreis crashed into the barriers at the exit to Turn 1. The car had to be recovered back to the paddock and retired from the event. The No. 989 had led its class for almost half the race and the team effort was working very well together, so the disappointment was felt deeply by all those concerned. It meant an early finish for drivers Pedro Torres and Robert Lorndale as well.

The event was a triumph and CERVENTIC and Hankook Tires are to be congratulated for their tireless efforts that made the race possible. It’s been a very good first season in the US for MRS-GT and MRS GT will be back competing in the Porsche Cup series next year when the calendar of the Porsche Carrera Cup North America includes the famous street race in Long Beach, CA and a Championship race at Laguna Seca.

MRS-GT is adding another vehicle to its range and so will be attacking with three 992 Porsche Cup vehicles. If you are interested in discussing options and ways to get involved with MRS in either North America or European programs, reach out to Karsten Molitor on the MRS GT-Racing website at https://www.molitor-racing.de/.

Serious Reminder: Check These 4 Major Car Parts To Avoid Accidents

Photo by Kate Ibragimova on Unsplash

Some people would overlook checking their car first before using it almost every time. Aside from maintaining the good health of your vehicle, the main benefit is that you lessen your risk from accidents. If you plan to go on a long trip with your family or friends, you should set aside a few minutes to an hour of pre-trip inspection to your car. It may sound far less than rocket science. However, many people do not know which parts to check or where to start. To avoid any accidents and enjoy a secure trip, make sure to check these four car parts religiously before leaving.

Tires

Your tires are your car’s soul. They are one of the major car parts that allow you to move from one point to another. It is also one of the most-used components of your vehicle. Time and wear-and-tear is the main enemy of your tires. However, it is inevitable. There will come a time when you need to change them. Worn-out tires have a risk of exploding. To lessen this risk, you must know how to check the expiration of your tires. There is no definite number of years that dictates that your tires are still safe and serviceable. To reduce tire-related accidents, you should regularly have it checked by your trusted mechanic.

Alternatively, there are some instances when tire problems occur years before the arrival of its expiration. For example, problems with tires can arise while still in its early life. These issues may come from manufacturing defects. When this occurs, recalls can occur. For example, the Goodyear tire recalls were due to the manufacturing problem. It may cause belt separation while the car is moving. When this happens, you can lose control of your vehicle. The results of these events can be fatal for both the driver and passengers of the car.

For accidents caused by auto defects, you can ask for legal help from Schmidt & Clark, LLP.

Furthermore, when your tires are not in good condition, you may put your and your passenger’s lives at risk. A worn-out tire may not have enough traction on the road. When it does, your car may find it difficult going through slippery roads.

Engine Oil

Engine oil lubricates parts of the engine of your car. That way, the components of your car engine do not break. The breakage may be due to constant friction as you use your vehicle. To check your engine oil, you can use your dipstick. If the color of the oil is yellow, then it is still in good condition. If it appears darker like black coffee, then you should have it checked by your mechanic.

Brake Fluid

The brake fluids of the modern-day car amplify the strength of the brake when you step on it. Without it, you will need more force to activate your brakes and stop your vehicle from moving.

There have been accidents where cars fall to their doom due to issues with brake fluid. Always check it before you go on the road. Your brake fluid should be between the maximum and minimum marker of its container.

Car Lights

Whether on a road trip or traveling to work, you need to check if all your car lights are working. You will need it when you come home late. It is much true even if you are using it for work.

The car lights you should be checking are your headlights and high beams. Also, you need to check your tail lights, turn signals, daytime running lights, and hazard lights.

Focus On Safety

Car care helps prolong the life of your vehicle. Timely checks with a mechanic can do wonders for your car. You can even ask them for advice on which parts you should regularly check before leaving home.

Additionally, as a driver, you are responsible for your car and its passengers. Make sure you check car parts like your tires, engine fluid, brake fluid, and lights before going on a road trip.

If you have problems with checking, you can ask your trusted mechanic to help. That way, you prevent accidents and have meaningful bonding moments with your loved ones.

Photo by Julian Hochgesang on Unsplash

Technological evolution has twisted the very fabric of this digital era, giving birth to a bold new world where solutions to every problem are just a click away. In 2021, the adoption of various technological trends in the automotive industry has become more vigorous – thanks to Covid-19. All credit goes to the technological interventions that saved the world from coming to a standstill.

A detailed survey of automotive industry advancements to look forward to in 2022 reveals information-centric tech trends playing a major role in transforming the industry. The automotive industry is being more adoptive towards new technologies and their operations at an unprecedented scale. Besides various technologies such as big data & analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) that have been around for a while, more advanced technologies such as the blockchain and the internet of things (IoT) are also going to find various applications in automotive.

Therefore, it has become critical to know how this influx of tech trends will transform the automotive industry this year. Here are the top trends that have a bigger chance of dominating the segment in 2022:

1. Autonomous Vehicles (AV)

Autonomous vehicles also known as self-driving vehicles aim to facilitate the driving process by minimizing the need for human drivers. There are going to be fleets of AVs which will expand the scope of doing last-mile deliveries, significantly reduce downtime, and make public transportation comparatively safer. For instance, there is going to be a severe decline in road accidents caused by driver negligence. AVs are known to be equipped with modern recognition technologies, such as AI-enhanced computer vision to look for obstacles along the route.

Udelv

The US-based company Udelv provides autonomous vehicles for doing last-mile deliveries. It combines hyper-speed teleoperations and advanced AI algorithms for human-assisted guidance in exclusive situations. The company’s vans have a payload capacity of around 360 kg (800+ lbs) and can speed up to approx 100 km/h (60 mi/h). Isn’t that amazing? Also, the vans deliver fresh groceries from nearby stores and send an alert/notification when the order arrives.

The internet is full of articles and blogs related to autonomous vehicles. If you want to know more about how it works and the operations of AV, then check out this article by TWI. However, before you get your hands on this fascinating information, make sure that you have a stable internet connection. The most amazing part is that their internet packages are easily affordable for everyone, starting from $50 per month only. Do check them out on their official website!

2. Connectivity

These days, vehicles come to the market with a tamper-proof digital identity that makes them stand out from other vehicles in the same network. This supports easy tracking of vehicular data for several use cases such as driver safety, insurance, fleet management, scale data logging, and predictive maintenance, etc. Sharing vehicular data is not just helpful for the individual customer, but also overhauls the complete mobility ecosystem.

V2X Network

British company V2X Network offers a vehicle-to-everything (V2X) social platform for autonomous transactions that merges geo-networking and its caching to promote low latency real-time communication. The platform is run on distributed ledger technologies (DLTs) which allows a high degree of scalability. The startup also uses enterprise-grade encryption to provide its users with control over their data to boost their security and privacy measures.

3. Electrification

The depleting fossil fuel collection and the harm to the atmosphere caused by their use are calling us to promote the use of electric vehicles (EVs). For higher adoption, EVs need to address bigger issues such as poor battery, high price, fleet electrification, and inadequate charging infrastructure, etc.

ChargeX

ChargeX is a German startup that has come up with a modular EV charging solution that converts parking spaces into charging stations. The company’s platform, Aqueduct, is feasible to install, has four charging modules up to 22kW, produces monthly reports, and uses a charging cable (Typ2). This solution recognizes the energy/power requirements of every car and it automatically takes control over the charging speed for vehicles.

4. Shared Mobility

With the production of connected vehicles, new business models are focusing on shared mobility as an alternative to old-school, traditional vehicle ownership. This encourages mobility-as-a-service (MaaS) and discourages all unused vehicles. Such solutions always meet the requirements of a business or city without adding new vehicles, which significantly reduces waiting time for pollution and fleets caused by diesel or petrol vehicles.

Beam

For example, Singapore-based business Beam highlights e-scooters to promote the concept of shared mobility in the Asia-Pacific region. Their scooters tend to use an aviation-grade aluminum frame and are exclusively customized for safety, sharing, reliability, and durability.

5. Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Various Artificial intelligence technologies like machine learning, computer vision, and deep learning search for applications in robotic automation inside the automotive industry. These manage fleets, help self-driving cars, and assist drivers to improve services such as vehicle insurance or inspection. AI also looks out for applications in the automotive industry manufacturing sector, where it increases the rate of production and reduces its costs.

Apex AI

The US-based company Apex AI helps automotive companies to execute complex AI solutions. Apex.OS basically runs on automotive electronic control units (ECUs) which offer robust, secure, and reliable APIs to launch autonomous mobility solutions.

NASCAR Star Chase Elliott Joins Nitro Rallycross for Florida Event

ELLIOTT TAKES THE WHEEL OF THE ZIPRECRUITER SUPERCAR TO COMPETE AT 2021 NITRO RX CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES FINALE

(Los Angeles – November 23, 2021) Coming off his recent NASCAR Series Cup Playoffs run and string of USAC Midget races, Chase Elliott will race in the finale of Nitro Rallycross’ 2021 series December 4 and 5 at The FIRM in North Florida. Elliott is confirmed to drive the ZipRecruiter-sponsored #GoNitro car in Nitro RX’s Supercar class. With his addition to the Florida driver lineup, Elliott’s beverage partner, A SHOC Energy, is also sponsoring his Nitro Rallycross debut in the final round.

Elliott is the latest NASCAR star to tackle Nitro RX’s challenging courses, following Kyle Busch’s strong performance at Nitro RX’s Phoenix stop earlier this month.

Elliott said, “I’m really looking forward to racing in Nitro RX at the season finale in Florida. I enjoy the challenge of trying out other forms of racing and have recently taken up dirt racing, so getting in a rallycross car is really appealing. Nitro RX is thrilling to watch and from what Travis Pastrana and some of the other drivers have told me, it is just as thrilling to be behind the wheel. I can’t wait.”

Travis Pastrana said, “It’s absolutely awesome for our sport to see NASCAR Cup champions like Chase Elliott and Kyle Busch compete in Nitro Rallycross. Kyle had so much fun and a very impressive fourth place finish at Nitro Rallycross in Phoenix. Chase is bar none one of the greatest driving talents in motorsport, and having an elite driver of his caliber opens Nitro RX to a new audience. Chase joining us for the Florida finale is a great way to close out the 2021 series.”

While Elliott has a full trophy case from numerous series across the racing world, including stock car series championships in the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR XFINITY Series, Nitro RX, however, will be new territory.

Nitro RX’s turbocharged 600 hp vehicles are different beasts than the NASCAR Cup Series vehicles Elliott usually pilots. Nitro RX Supercars are also all-wheel drive and accelerate faster off the starting line than an F1 car, hitting 60 mph in just 1.9 seconds at 1.5 G. Putting that power to all four wheels is necessary to navigate Nitro RX’s revolutionary multi-surface tracks, which feature 100-ft plus jumps, banked turns and steep berms.

Elliott will face off against an elite field of multi-disciplinary racers. In addition to motorsports icon and Nitro RX mastermind Travis Pastrana, Florida competitors include Tanner Foust – the only driverin the worldwith victories in X Games, Global Rallycross, WRX, ARX and the European Rallycross Championship – as well as Scott Speed, a three-time X Games gold medalist, three-time Global Rallycross champion, plus an F1 and NASCAR veteran – and more.

Following back-to-back series wins, Pastrana currently holds the lead in the Nitro RX Championship standings. With the 2021 series title on the line going into the Florida finale, he looks forward to the added challenge of squaring off against Elliott.

Pastrana said, “The track is being built right now so Chase will have as much time on it as anyone coming into this race. And with so much tarmac in Florida I wouldn’t be surprised to see Chase end up on the podium, but I would be very impressed. I look forward to seeing how his skills transfer over to all-wheel drive Supercars and can’t wait to go door to door with one of the youngest

NASCAR Cup champion of all time.”

In addition to Kyle Busch, the people’s rallycross champion – two-time European Rallycross winner Andreas Bakkerud – has also piloted the ZipRecruiter #GoNitro car. ZipRecruiter is the latest addition to Nitro RX’s growing sponsor roster, joining foundational series partners Red BullYokohamaSubaru Motorsports USA and O’Reilly Auto Parts.

To experience Nitro RX’s high-flying action in person, tickets can be purchased at https://www.nitrorallycross.com/calendar. Fans can also watch live on Peacock in the U.S. as well as on YouTube worldwide.

Spire Motorsports to Field NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Team in 2022

CONCORD, N.C. (November 23, 2021) – Spire Motorsports announced today that it will expand its NASCAR footprint and field a team in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) in 2022.

The team will be led by championship-winning industry veterans Mike Greci and Kevin “Bono” Manion.

Greci comes to Spire Motorsports from Hattori Racing Enterprises, where he served as general manager for the last six seasons. Manion has spent the last two years at GMS Racing and will handle the team’s crew chief responsibilities.

“After spending the last three seasons establishing our footing in the NASCAR Cup Series, Spire Motorsports is eager to lean on Mike Greci’s leadership and build a competitive NASCAR Camping World Truck Series team,” commented Spire Motorsports co-owner T.J. Puchyr. “Mike’s resume speaks for itself. He’s a proven winner and excels at developing young talent. We’re fortunate to add someone as accomplished as Mike to our roster. Being able to complement him with an experienced, championship-winning crew chief in Bono Manion creates a foundation that we expect to be successful right out of the gate.

“There’s a tremendous amount of interest, enthusiasm and opportunity in the Camping World Truck Series. We’re excited to expand our team, create new jobs and make our mark in the Truck Series garage the Spire Motorsports’ way.”

Greci, a Granby, Conn., native with over five decades of experience, launched his NASCAR career in 1990 as Mike McLaughlin’s crew chief in the ARCA Menard’s Series East (formerly Busch North Series and NASCAR K&N Pro Series East). Since then, he has earned ARCA Menard’s Series East victories with McLaughlin, Mike Stefanik, Ryan Truex and Brett Moffitt.

Greci won consecutive championships with Truex in 2009 and 2010. From 2013-2016, he held the competition director’s role for Turner-Scott Motorsports and HSM with Justin Marks when the teams won four straight ARCA Menard’s Series East titles with drivers Dylan Kwasniewski, Ben Rhodes, William Byron and Justin Haley.

He transitioned to Hattori Racing Enterprises as general manager at the end of 2016 where he won four races and earned NCWTS championship honors in 2018 with Moffitt. From 2019-2021, Greci and Austin Hill combined to notch eight wins while clinching a spot in the NCWTS playoffs all three years.

“I’m proud to join Spire Motorsports and take full advantage of the opportunity in front of us,” said Greci. “I’ve known both T.J. Puchyr and Jeff Dickerson (Spire Motorsports co-owners) for many years and I’m really impressed with how they go about their business. We’ll have an opportunity to develop some exciting young talent. Being able to pair a young driver with a crew chief as experienced as Bono Manion positions us to be competitive as soon as we hit the track.”

Manion has been a staple atop the pit box since 2002 and boasts wins in all three of NASCAR’s elite touring series. Some of his most recognizable accomplishments include back-to-back NASCAR Xfinity Series Championships with Martin Truex Jr., (’04 – ‘05) and NASCAR Cup Series wins including the Daytona 500, Brickyard 400 and Bank of America 500 with Jamie McMurray. He has collected seven NCWTS wins with four different drivers including Daniel Suarez, Kyle Busch, Tyler Ankrum and Zane Smith.

“This is an exciting opportunity to help build a new team and establish Spire Motorsports as a top-flight organization in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series,” offered Manion. “Building something from the ground up is the type of challenge that gets me out of bed in the morning. Collectively, we all envision this as a great opportunity to be competitive and give back to the sport that has given so much to all of us.”

The team will name its driver and announce 2022 schedule plans once they are finalized.

TPC Racing Returns To Endurance Racing Competition with Race-Leading Performance in 24H Series at Sebring

TPC Racing and Drivers Pedro Torres and Rob Lorndale Teamed with MRS GT-Racing and Raced to Lead in Debut

SEBRING, Florida (November 23, 2021) – TPC Racing’s successful history added a new chapter this past weekend at Sebring International Raceway, where the team and drivers Pedro Torres and Rob Lorndale returned to the world of endurance racing and left with plenty of positives, including laps led in the world-wide Hankook 24H Series.

The 2006 GT-class winners at the Rolex 24 At Daytona, TPC Racing’s most recent efforts have been in sprint-race competitions. The Sebring 24H was an opportunity to work with European Porsche-racing stalwart MRS GT-Racing and add TPC Racing drivers Torres and Lorndale to the endurance racing driver roster.

Though contact in Turn One ended the team’s run in a 992-generation Porsche 911 GT3 Cup just shy of the twelve-hour mark of the race, TPC Racing and both drivers were able to take away some positives from the event.

The No. 989 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup had led for nearly four hours prior to the contact that ended the night. Because the race began at 5 p.m. local time, most of that 11-hour run came at night around an already challenging Sebring International Raceway.

“What an incredible experience for all of us here at TPC Racing,” Harris Levitas, Director of Race Operations said. “TPC Racing hasn’t been endurance racing since our last year in what was then Grand-Am. We were in a Porsche then, so it was nice to make our return with the Porsche family and run well. We can’t thank MRS GT-Racing enough for their support and allowing us to be a part of their effort this weekend at Sebring.”

The event was the endurance racing debuts for Torres and Lorndale, who competed this season in the single-make Porsche Sprint Challenge North America championship.

“The endurance racing format was a brand-new challenge for Pedro and Rob, and they handled it better than could be expected,” Levitas said. “This was the first time they had driven at night with this type of competition, this was the first time they’d had to do driver changes, and really the first time either of them had to compromise a setup for a team situation. To help get this car to the lead and running strong before the incident is a credit to how much they’ve learned this season.”

The Hankook 24H race was the season-ender for both Torres and Lorndale after their rookie seasons of professional racing. Lorndale finished third in the Porsche Sprint Challenge North America Gold Cup standings, while Torres earned five podiums in the same class and, with Lorndale, boosted TPC Racing to a Team Championship.
