How To Find The Right Brakes For Your Car & Save Big
Your car’s overall safety and performance depend on your brakes. The braking system includes the brake pedal, the master cylinder, the wheel cylinders, and the brake shoes or linings. The job of the brakes is to slow or stop the rotation of the wheels.
Tires are also important when it comes to braking efficiency. Even if you’re driving a sports car and you have a powerful engine, if your tires aren’t maintained properly and in good condition, you’re not going to be able to stop on time. They will wear down over time, so they may not provide the same stopping power they used to.
Finding the right auto parts in Australia, including brake pads, can be complicated. There are many different types of brakes and many different brands, so it’s important to know what you’re looking for before you head to the store. The last thing you want is to find something that doesn’t fit your car and have to go through the ordering process all over again.
Determine Your Brake Type
There are four main types of brakes for cars: drum, disc, vented, and solid disc. Each of these refers to how your brakes are built inside. Most older model cars use drum brakes, while newer cars commonly have solid disk brakes. Vented discs are also used on newer vehicles and provide better cooling than solid discs.
Find What You Need
You’ll need to know what kind of brake caliper you need for your car before you start shopping for brake pads. Calipers attach to your wheels, squeeze the brake pads against the rotor and slow down or stop your vehicle. You can check the manufacturer’s website or look in your vehicle manual to determine which type of caliper you have.
Tire Size
The size of your tires has an impact on how much braking power you have. Bigger tires mean more rolling resistance and less stopping power. So if you want more stopping power, go with smaller tires. On the other hand, traction is greater with larger tires, so there’s a tradeoff between performance and safety.
Weight of Your Car
As weight increases, so does stopping distance; this is particularly true for heavier cars like SUVs and trucks. It takes extra effort to stop a heavy vehicle compared to a lighter one with the same size tires.
Road Conditions
If you live in an area with rain and snow, your brakes will work harder than if you live in an area that rarely sees precipitation. The more moisture on the road, the longer it takes for your vehicle to stop. So if you live in an area where weather is unpredictable, be sure to get a good set of all-weather brake pads before winter hits.
Take Your Car To A Shop For An Inspection
If you need to replace your vehicle’s brakes, there are several factors that you should consider before you make any purchases. Many people do not consider one option is taking their car to a mechanic or shop for a professional inspection of their vehicle’s current braking system. Taking your vehicle to a shop will allow them to take a look at your car and let you know exactly what is wrong with your current braking system, if anything at all. This is an essential step in replacing your vehicle’s brakes because it will ensure that there are no surprises when you purchase new brakes for your car.
BLAINE PERKINS TO JOIN CR7 MOTORSPORTS
STATESVILLE, N.C. (December 23, 2021) – CR7 Motorsports, owned by Codie Rohrbaugh, announced today that the team will field the No. 9 Chevrolet Silverado in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) with driver Blaine Perkins.
Perkins has signed a single-year driver agreement with the single-entry NASCAR Camping World Truck Series team. The 21-year-old will pilot the No. 9 Chevrolet Silverado full-time for CR7 Motorsports in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2022.
“This is pretty special,” Perkins said. “This is my first full-time season in any of NASCAR’s top-tier series. I am looking forward to getting into the Chevrolet Silverado this year at CR7 Motorsports. We are going to have a good year.”
He enters his second season of NASCAR’s three top-tier series. Perkins made his NASCAR debut on March 13, 2021 at the Phoenix (Ariz.) Raceway. In 2021, the Bakersfield, Calif., -native competed in eight NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) events with Our Motorsports.
“I am always looking forward to the short tracks,” Perkins said. “That is where I grew-up racing – at the half-mile and quarter-mile tracks. Martinsville (Va.) Speedway and Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway will be fun. And road racing, I love road racing as well.
“The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series has a very diverse group of tracks. Even the dirt tracks – I have never driven a stock car on dirt, so I will definitely be working on that a lot. But I know we are going to be fast when it comes to racing there. It is really going to be fun to run all these different types of tracks.”
In addition, the accomplished driver has five starts in the ARCA Menards Series and 40 starts in the ARCA Menards Series West. He is a three-time NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series champion (2019, California State Late Model, Irwindale Speedway Late Model, and Kern County Speedway Late Model).
“I have high expectations for the upcoming season,” Rohrbaugh said. “Grant (Enfinger) provided CR7 Motorsports a very solid foundation that we can continue to build from. Blaine (Perkins) will have to learn how the Chevrolet Silverados drive compared to the NASCAR Xfinity Series cars. He will have all the tools around him to be successful – a good crew chief, GMS Racing support, and good Chevrolet Silverados. I really look forward to next season, and, hopefully, making a Playoff-run.”
Rohrbaugh spent four years as a driver in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. The Petersburg, W.Va., -native has 36 starts in the series, including two top-five finishes and five top-10 finishes. In addition, he is a veteran of the ARCA Menards Series, ARCA Menards Series East and CARS Solid Rock Carriers Tour.
In 2016, Rohrbaugh founded CR7 Motorsports, based in Statesville, N.C. CR7 Motorsports boasts six years of ARCA Menards Series competition with drivers Jason Kitzmiller, and Rohrbaugh, collecting 10 top-10 finishes. The team also has three top-five finishes, and eight top-ten finishes in 48 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts. In the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, CR7 Motorsports has had three drivers; Grant Enfinger, Colby Howard, and Rohrbaugh.
The 2022 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season will mark the team’s first full-time series competition with a single driver behind-the-wheel.
“I think it is a big opportunity for CR7 Motorsports,” Rohrbaugh said. “It gives the crew, and Blaine the opportunity to learn and work together, and get that much better every weekend.”
Doug George, who joined the organization in 2019, is the crew chief of the No. 9 Chevrolet Silverado for Perkins. As a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series 18-year veteran crew chief, George is credited with two victories (2009, Kyle Busch), 35 top-five finishes, 79 top-ten finishes, and five pole awards.
George has previously manned the helm for drivers Aric Almirola, John Andretti, Kyle Busch, Ricky Carmichael, Denny Hamlin, Ron Hornaday, Jr., Mark Martin and Mike Skinner. As a crew chief he has also earned experience in the NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) and the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
Perkins also has a special connection to the Hornaday family. Candice Hornaday and Ron Hornaday, Jr. have both provided valuable guidance and support to him during his racing career.
“This year is about learning from one of the best truck drivers of all time, Ron Hornaday Jr.,” Perkins said. “Having Ron in my corner coaching me through my first year in the truck series is invaluable. I mean, who gets to say they have a Hall of Fame driver advise them? I’m so humbled by these opportunities.”
CR7 Motorsports will enter its fifth NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season with an integrated competition and engineering partnership with the championship-winning team GMS Racing. The agreement with GMS Racing will allow CR7 Motorsports to purchase chassis components and other services developed over their years of championship-caliber competition. As is the case with many other alliances within NASCAR, technical collaboration and communication amongst the teams will be encouraged to help improve performance. Perkins will have access to the latest Chevrolet technology with simulation support.
Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway will mark Perkins’ debut with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
“I have never driven in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series before, so that will be my biggest challenge. Fortunately, we will have practice and qualifying next year, so that will be beneficial,” the first-generation driver said.
“We also have huge experience behind the scenes with CR7 Motorsports in Doug and his team. Between my team, the Hornaday’s, my spotter, Tim Fedewa, and the CR7 Motorsports’ team, our goal is to be a contender this year for a championship. We have huge goals to meet this season, but we have the right team to get it done.”
The NextEra Energy 250 at the Daytona International Speedway will be broadcast live on FS1 on Friday, February 18 at 7:30 p.m. (ET). It will also broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Under The Influence Of Drink Or Drug Driving: Are You Insured?
In the United States, drunk driving is a major social problem. In fact, it’s the leading cause of death on our roads today. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, each day, 29 people die in the United States because they were involved with an alcohol-impaired driver.
However, most states require insurance coverage for drivers who get into accidents while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but not all states do.
In some cases, you may be uninsured if you get into an accident when your blood-alcohol content is above the legal limit. In other cases, your insurer may not pay for injuries if you were impaired by drugs or alcohol at the time of an accident. So it’s important to know what kind of insurance coverage you have before going out to drink and socialize!
Insurance Coverage For Drink And Drug Drivers
Many people are not aware of their insurance coverage possibilities when they are high on drugs or alcohol. If you are caught driving under the influence, there are three things to consider.
First, your car insurance company may refuse to cover your car if you have an accident;
Second, most car insurers will raise your rates at the next policy renewal after a DUI, and you can find out more about that here.
Second, if the incident is severe enough to result in a criminal conviction or any other type of administrative action leading to driver’s license suspension, you will be unable to continue driving legally.
There are some exceptions to this rule. For example, you may have separate coverage if your state offers an accident provision for drunk driving. This is typically offered by most states as an optional coverage on standard auto policies. You can also have separate liability coverage for cases of drunk or drugged driving.
If you have no coverage for drunk and drug drivers, your car insurance company may take the necessary steps to protect its interests by placing a notification on your policy that will prevent any other driver from using it when they are under the influence. No matter what state you live in, there is always some kind of protection for you under these circumstances.
The Law On Drink And Drug Drivers
Different states have different legal requirements for drunk and drug drivers, depending on the level of intoxication.
For example, if you are caught driving under the influence in New York State with a blood alcohol content (BAC) higher than 0.08%, it is considered to be an “aggravated” drunk driving offense—one that requires the state to revoke your license for at least six months.
However, if you are caught driving with a BAC higher than 0.08% in Utah—even if it’s your first offense—it will be treated as an “aggravated” drunk-driving incident that requires revocation of your driver’s license. To avoid serious criminal charges, including jail time and large fines, you’ll need to contact a DUI attorney immediately!
In general terms, there are two types of drunk-driving offenses: those that involve “misdemeanors” or minor crimes punishable by fine only; and those that include felony convictions with the possibility of imprisonment.
As far as drinking and driving are concerned, the law varies from state to state in the United States—and even within a single jurisdiction. For example, if you live in Washington State then your BAC level must be 0.08% or higher for it to qualify as a drunk-driving offense punishable by fine only; but in Oregon, the same BAC level is punishable by a felony and imprisonment.
Different states also have different rules about how long you must wait to drive again after getting caught: in most cases, it’s between 48 hours and one week, but some require as much as four weeks without any alcohol consumption at all before driving legally.
Many drivers in California face strict penalties that often include court-ordered rehabilitation programs. Completing a program at a residential drug treatment in California helps individuals address the root of the problem while meeting legal obligations. These structured environments offer the support needed to prevent future incidents on the road.
As you can see, there are many factors to take into account when it comes to drinking and drug driving.
Consequences Of Being Caught Driving Drink Or Drugs
Drinking and driving is a common crime committed in many parts of the world, especially in countries with high per capita alcohol consumption. Drinking and driving is a major contributor to accidents.
Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs may lead to injury, death, and property damage, highlighting the critical need for addiction treatment in wickland terrace, baton rouge. The penalties for driving after drinking too much can be severe.
The penalties vary by country and state/region. If an individual is caught driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, they may face heavy fines, loss of their driver’s license for a certain time period, imprisonment in some cases, and be required to attend special education courses on alcohol use while intoxicated or enroll in rehabilitation programs. And when you’re facing charges, you might want to seek help from pardon and expungement lawyers to have a clean slate.
Obviously nobody wants things to get to this stage where your life is held together by a thread in the aftermath of a stupid accident. If you feel that your alcohol consumption may lead you to a place where you feel you can drink and drive, now is the time to take a step back and assess what you can do to rectify it. If you can turn back towards drinking responsibly then you’ll be less likely to be drunk and decide to get behind the wheel. Reducing your regular alcohol intake can also improve your cognitive ability, thus improving your decision making skills. Bear in mind that this doesn’t have to be a punishment, you can begin your recovery in style by using a high quality treatment service in order to replace excessive alcohol consumption with healthier habits, as well as explore the root causes for your alcohol consumption levels and aim to rectify issues you may have. This will help you to avoid having a nightmare drink driving accident, this is definitely something you don’t want to happen.
When you are caught drunk driving or driving on drugs, this will go on your driving record, and you will have to shop around for insurance that doesn’t cost a premium. There is a helpful article on BuyInsurance.com about how far back auto insurance companies look when it comes to your driving record and calculating your risk.
Drinking and Driving is a Dangerous Combination.
Not only are you putting your life at risk, but you’re also risking the lives of others by getting behind the wheel after consuming alcohol or drugs. What if something goes wrong? Who will take responsibility for any injury or death that occurs because someone made this reckless decision?
If anything happens to anyone in an accident caused by drunk drivers, they could be liable for damages in civil court even if it turns out that their blood-alcohol concentration was below the legal limit when they were pulled over.
To cover all bases before embarking on such a risky endeavor, make sure you have sufficient insurance coverage so your assets are protected should there ever be consequences from being caught driving under the influence.
7 Truck Maintenance Tips to Check Before a Long Drive
Trucks are like mules. They can drive on rough roads, carry heavy loads and travel long distances. They do all the hard work that most vehicles can’t withstand and are more durable.
Despite all that, trucks are machines too. And like any other machine, they do wear and tear. Regular maintenance, service, and general care are essential for better performance.
When your truck is performing at very its best, it will reduce the risk of a breakdown, it will save fuel, and most importantly of all, it extends your truck’s life. It also saves you a lot of time and money that you would have; otherwise, spent on unplanned repairs.
This article is to highlight a few ideas on maintaining your truck for your long drive.
- Check Your Brakes
The one thing you do not want to encounter during your road trip is a brake failure. It is a common cause of accidents and often leads to vehicle damage, injuries, and lawsuits.
To avoid all that, make sure you service your brakes regularly. How often you need to do it will vary depending on your driving habits. But to be safe, it is always advisable to inspect and maintain them every time you change your oil.
Also, feel and listen to your brakes as you drive. Are there any noises? Are the brakes too hard, or are they too loose?
If you feel or hear anything unusual, you need to take your truck to a professional.
- Test Your Engine
The engine keeps your truck on the road; it is also the one that can take it off the road. Look out for signs of engine problems and deal with them to keep your truck on the road. These include a decrease in power, loss of oil pressure, or excessive smoking.
Also, have your maintenance provider perform regular compression tests to determine how long your engine will last.
Remember, every truck is different, and the level of expertise may vary. When searching for a maintenance provider, be sure to choose the one that best suits your needs. If yours is a box truck, then focus on finding the most reliable and experienced box truck repair and maintenance service provider available.
- Inspect Your Electrical System
Modern trucks rely more on electrical systems to keep their engines running. These vehicles have many sensors and wires to communicate with the computer to keep their engine system working. For your own good, make sure to schedule regular inspection and maintenance on your electrical system.
- Keep Your Truck’s Body in Good Condition
Body corrosion is one of the top reasons some trucks retire earlier than others. Chemicals are a common cause of rust. If you drive on roads that have to get treated for ice and snow, high chances are you will have to deal with a corroded truck at some point.
Unfortunately, it is not really possible to prevent rust; you can only slow it down. To do so, you will need to follow the following tips;
- Paint your truck’s body regularly to ensure that there are no chips and scratches
- Wash your truck regularly, preferably after every 10 Days
- Wash your car immediately after rain, snow, or sleet
- Lubricate your door locks to protect them from moisture
- Check Fluid Levels
Vehicles rely on fluids such as engine oil, brake, coolant, power steering, transmission, and others to operate. These fluids must be at the correct levels to avoid problems and keep the truck working as it should.
Luckily checking the fluid levels is easy and only takes a few minutes. If you notice a decrease in the fluid levels between inspections, it is an indication that you have a leak or a consumption problem. Fix it before it becomes worse.
- Change Fluids
Apart from checking the levels, you also have to change the fluids regularly.
Fluids do not last forever. They get contaminated and expire, which means they are no longer safe to use.
Some fluids are fast to expire, others may take longer. That means you will have to change some fluids more frequently than others. But in general, how often you change your fluids will depend on;
- The mileage
- Your type of driving, I.e., whether you drive on a highway, city traffic, or on dusty roads
- The weight you carry on your truck
- Check the Condition of Your Tires and the Pressure
Inspect all your tires including the spare tire, if you have one. Look for any wear and tear like punctures, sidewall bulges, or gouges. Be sure to fix such issues on your tires before you embark on your drive.
Also, check the tire pressure and ensure the proper pressure levels. Your tires are your truck’s contact with the road; you want them inflated well to avoid unnecessary wear and to improve fuel economy. Well-inflated tires also help by providing maximum traction, braking, and maintaining your load-carrying ability.
Every truck requires a different amount of pressure depending on the model; find out yours from your car owner’s manual.
Conclusion
Regular maintenance will not prevent your truck from getting old, but it will help slow down the process. It will ensure that it is in good condition at all times and keep it on the road longer.
There are so many maintenance providers available, not all are reliable. To reap the most benefits, first, you need to know and understand what your truck needs. Then do your research and take your time to identify someone who has your best interests at heart.
Connor Mosack Back for Full Trans Am TA2 Season in 2022 with TeamSLR
Welcome Back, Connor
Connor Mosack Back for Full Trans Am TA2 Season in 2022 with TeamSLR
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (Dec. 22, 2021) – Connor Mosack will return to the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli in 2022 for a second full TA2 season behind the wheel of TeamSLR’s No. 28 Nic Tailor Custom Fit Underwear/Interstate Foam & Supply Chevrolet Camaro from M1 Racecars.
The 22-year-old racer from Charlotte, North Carolina, will also be eligible for the Peter Gregg Foundation Young Gun Award. The $20,000 prize will be presented to the top points-earning TA2 driver who is under the age of 25 and has participated in a minimum of three national Trans Am races.
Mosack enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2021 that included on-track and off-track milestones. In only his ninth career TA2 start, Mosack secured his first podium finish June 26 at the Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course in Lexington, Ohio, just a month-and-a-half after graduating with a degree in business entrepreneurship from High Point (N.C.) University. Then on Aug. 7 on the streets of Nashville, Tennessee, Mosack earned another podium finish. That set the stage for Mosack’s breakthrough win Sept. 12 at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International. The triumph also boosted Mosack to third in the TA2 championship standings, a position he held through the season finale Nov. 7 at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas, where he finished second to championship winner Rafa Matos.
“I learned a ton this year, especially in terms of race craft – when you can take advantage of opportunities and when you need to save yourself, and also just how to make better lap times,” Mosack said. “The learning curve was steep, but that made our success all the more rewarding.
“It’s only a 12-race season, and when the checkered flag dropped at COTA, I wanted there to be another race. Coming back for another full season of TA2 with TeamSLR and M1 Racecars was a no-brainer. There’s a lot we still want to accomplish.”
Mosack’s upward trajectory in his first full Trans Am season was emblematic of his racing career as a whole. Mosack didn’t begin racing until he was 18. He started in Legends cars and after winning five championships, transitioned to Late Model stock cars in 2019. Mosack augmented his Late Model schedule with four TA2 races in 2020 for TeamSLR via the doubleheader weekends last fall at Virginia International Raceway (VIR) in Alton and Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, respectively.
“Connor has a lot of pure talent, but he’s also put the work in to do a really good job in our racecars,” said Scott Lagasse, Sr., president, TeamSLR. “Prior to this season, he really hadn’t raced a lot, so to win at this level and run consistently up front week-in and week-out was very impressive. Connor just kept his head down and kept working. The proof was in the results. He got better with every race. He’s a lot of fun to work with and we’re all very happy to be back together for another season.”
Mosack’s success in 2021 came with perseverance. The season started with an unfortunate DNF (Did Not Finish) in the season opener at Sebring (Fla.) International Raceway when a cut tire in the waning laps scuttled a likely third-place finish. Yet nine races later at Watkins Glen, Mosack was a Trans Am race winner. It was a dominant win too, as Mosack took the lead on the opening lap from series veteran Matos and never relinquished it, leading all 30 laps around the 3.4-mile, 11-turn track to finish .883 of a second over his nearest pursuer, Tyler Kicera.
Mosack wants more of those moments, and with a full season’s worth of TA2 already under his belt, he sees more checkered flags in his future.
“Scott (Lagasse Jr.) and Senior (Scott Lagasse) have won a lot of races together and they have a ton of experience,” Mosack said. “They build and tune the M1 Racecars we use, so they know how to maximize the car’s performance. They’re awesome to drive and each of those guys have taught me a lot. They helped make a steep learning curve this year a little less steep.”
Mosack eyes a future in NASCAR, and with road-course racing becoming more and more prominent in NASCAR’s national touring series, the experience of wheeling a TA2 car on some of the most iconic tracks in North America has Mosack well positioned for his climb up the NASCAR ladder.
“I feel like I’ll have an advantage over most of the guys, at least in ARCA and probably Trucks, when it comes to road-course racing,” Mosack said. “Nothing beats seat time, and running the full TA2 schedule gives me an incredible amount of seat time. Every practice, every qualifying session, every race – I’m learning. I just feel like the style of the TA2 car is very applicable to what an ARCA car or a Truck or even an Xfinity or Cup car is like. That’s where I want to be and that’s why I’m putting in the time here with TeamSLR.”
The 55th season of the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli kicks off Feb. 24-27 at Sebring.

“I am beyond thrilled to be able to join Young’s Motorsports for the 2022 Truck Series season,” said Little. “This is an incredible opportunity for me and my career and I couldn’t be more appreciative of Tyler and his family’s support.
“I honestly feel that we are going to really turn some heads next year and show everyone the capabilities of Young’s Motorsports. Tyler has built an incredible infrastructure with really great people and I’m very much looking forward to working with every one of them.”
From 2015 to 2020, Little, 24, has achieved seven top-10 finishes in the Truck Series, including a career-best sixth-place finish driving for his family-owned JJL Motorsports team at Iowa Speedway in 2018.
“Everyone at Young’s Motorsports is excited to add Jesse Little to our team lineup next season,” said Young’s Motorsports team principal Tyler Young. “Jesse is an exceptional driver with not only a lot of knowledge but also devotion and drive. His sound work ethic is going to be contagious and we cannot wait for great results with him on the track in 2022.”
Additional details on Little’s program, including crew chief, marketing partners and truck number will be announced at a later date.
Added Little, “I can’t wait to get to Daytona and get to work building a strong and competitive program. I’m looking forward to announcing our partners for next year soon and finding new ways to deliver value to them.”
