Christian Eckes secures first Truck Series win at Las Vegas

Photo by David Myers for SpeedwayMedia.com

Former ARCA Menards Series champion Christian Eckes took home his first-ever NASCAR Camping World Truck Series win at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Friday night. He did so with help from his ThorSport Racing teammates and after passing Todd Gilliland on a late-race restart.

“I knew we had a shot on that restart,” Eckes said about the victory. “For whatever reason, our restarts have been stellar. The last one all we had to do was go forward one spot and we were able to do that. The 16 (Austin Hill) was able to give me a great push and my teammate (Ben Rhodes) gave me a good push too. My Curb Records Tundra was really damn good.

“Just proud of my whole team, this is a brand new truck we brought here. Our team did well finishing 1-2-3-4. My crew chief’s (Jeriod Prince) first win and my first win, it was a great night.”

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series headed west to Las Vegas Motor Speedway to begin the Round of 6 in the Truck Series Playoffs, a race that took an interesting turn Friday night. Stages of 30/30/74 laps made up the 134-lap event. John Hunter Nemechek was on the pole by virtue of NASCAR’s metric system.

There was only one caution in Stage 1 and it happened only three laps into the event. The No. 45 of Chris Hacker crashed off Turn 4 and brought out the only yellow of the stage. Nemechek had a dominant truck early and led every lap of Stage 1 to take the stage victory. Gilliland, Chandler Smith, Ben Rhodes, Stewart Friesen, Zane Smith, Eckes, Sheldon Creed, Austin Hill and Tyler Ankrum were the top 10 finishers.

During Stage 2, the action picked up with two cautions and a major incident that impacted two of the playoff drivers, John Hunter Nemechek and Zane Smith. On Lap 38, Zane Smith went three-wide with Nemechek and Friesen, only to cut down a left-rear tire and bring out the yellow. Under the yellow, his No. 21 truck eventually lost power, but the team replaced the battery with a new one.

Nemechek’s issues began on Lap 48. The Mooresville, North Carolina native slowed on the backstretch and brought out the yellow on Lap 52 as he had no ignition fire. He did, however, get the truck refired.

Meanwhile, Todd Gilliland turned the page and scored the stage victory. Rhodes, Carson Hocevar, Friesen, Creed, Tanner Gray, Austin Hill, Matt Crafton, Eckes, and Chandler Smith rounded out the top 10.

Stage 3 was even more intriguing. A major crash occurred on Lap 70 with multiple trucks involved, including playoff drivers Chandler Smith and Creed. Creed’s teammate, Ankrum, spun off Turn 2 which caused a chain of events. Creed went to the bottom to miss the accident but was not clear and he plowed into the back of Smith’s truck. The accident ended the night for both drivers. Creed and Smith were treated and released from the infield care center following the incident.

Later on in the stage, Nemechek’s problems continued to worsen. He once again brought out the yellow flag with 54 to go after stalling on the backstretch. Due to his mechanical problems, Nemechek was relegated to 33rd place finish, 49 laps down.

The final caution of the night came inside 10 laps to go when the No. 42 of Carson Hocevar spun prior to pit road. The Niece Motorsports driver was penalized one lap for bringing out the yellow intentionally.

With a four-lap restart, Gilliland hoped to gain his second win since Circuit of Americus back in May. However, Eckes powered right on by and eventually grabbed his first Truck Series victory with his ThorSport teammates Ben Rhodes, Matt Crafton, and Johnny Sauter taking the top four spots. It was the first time in series history that one team has accomplished the feat.

“It’s tough to begin with but at this track it’s even crazier,” Rhodes said about finishing second. “We all saw at this track the restarts were wild all night long. I think I’m just happy with the night. Come in from Bristol, barely getting in, and now I hear we are the points leader. But I couldn’t be more proud of ThorSport Racing. Heck, we were one-through-four. I heard that was the first time in series history.”

“I’m super proud of Christian Eckes. I gave him as big of a shove as I could down the backstretch and when that happened, he got the lead. I thought I could challenge him. We needed one more corner before that caution came out and maybe I could have challenged him for the win, but super proud of him. He deserves it. He’s been working hard on it, and with his part-time schedule, it’s really good to see. ThorSport Racing is on fire tonight.”

Meanwhile, playoff driver Matt Crafton continued his consistency by finishing third. With the exception of Watkins Glen (finishing 22nd), Crafton has finished inside the Top 10 or five since Nashville back in June.

“These guys behind pit wall. Junior (Carl Joiner, crew chief) and them making all of the right adjustments,” Crafton said. “We’ve never ever made as many adjustments as we did tonight. The Menards Toyota Tundra was good on long runs, but our short run speed – we were pathetic. We weren’t wanting that last restart but we did. I thought I had a good run off turn four and was going to try to do something with the 98 (Christian Eckes) and then the 99 (Ben Rhodes) turned underneath me and drove on by me. All-in-all, I’m really happy for Duke and Rhonda Thorson. 1-2-3-4, I don’t think that has ever been done. Thanks to Menards and everybody.”

Eckes led once for four laps en route to victory.

There were 10 cautions for 39 laps and 14 lead changes among 11 different leaders.

Herta Hurries to Top of Opening Practice at Long Beach

LONG BEACH, Calif. (Friday, Sept. 24, 2021) – The good – and quick – times keep rolling for Colton Herta.

California native Herta led the opening practice for the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach on Friday, turning a top lap of 1 minute, 9.2680 seconds in the No. 26 Gainbridge Honda on the 11-turn, 1.968-mile street circuit. That speed came after Herta won the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey from the NTT P1 Award position last Sunday at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California.

Simon Pagenaud was second quickest at 1:09.4334 in the No. 22 Menards Team Penske Chevrolet despite entering the runoff area in Turn 9 with about 10 minutes remaining in the 45-minute session.

NTT INDYCAR SERIES championship leader Alex Palou started with authority what could be a title-clinching weekend at the season finale, ending up third at 1:09.4554 in the No. 10 NTT DATA Chip Ganassi Racing Honda. Second-year series driver Palou never has raced at Long Beach, as last year’s race was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It was a good session,” Palou said. “I like the track. It was all about getting to know the track and see how that No. 10 NTT DATA car was handling. I’m comfortable and ready to push tomorrow.”

Saturday’s action includes another 45-minute practice at noon (ET), followed by NTT P1 Award qualifying at 3:05 p.m. (ET).

The 85-lap race is Sunday, with live coverage starting at 3 p.m. (ET) on NBCSN and the INDYCAR Radio Network. Palou must finish 11th or better to clinch his first NTT INDYCAR SERIES championship.

Felix Rosenqvist will look this weekend to rebound from a tough season after posting the fourth-quickest time in practice, 1:09.4870 in the No. 7 Arrow McLaren SP Chevrolet. Ryan Hunter-Reay joined teammate Herta in the top five, ending up fifth at 1:09.5154 in the No. 28 DHL Honda to start his final event with Andretti Autosport after 12 seasons with the team. Rookie of the Year contender Romain Grosjean was named as the driver of the No. 28 car for the 2022 season earlier Friday.

While Rosenqvist found speed, his championship-contending teammate Pato O’Ward struggled in practice. O’Ward is second in the championship standings, 35 points behind Palou. But he ended up 16th in the 28-car field at 1:10.2451 in the No. 5 Arrow McLaren SP Chevrolet.

“We need to work,” an agitated O’Ward said after the session. “We just need to sort something out, find time.”

The third title contender, two-time series champion Josef Newgarden, was 10th at 1:09.8557 in the No. 2 Hitachi Team Penske Chevrolet. Newgarden spun early in the session after losing traction while running over a bump entering Turn 9, but he continued without damage to his car.

Newgarden is 48 points behind Palou in third and must win the NTT P1 Award, race and lead the most laps while Palou finishes 25th or worse to have a chance to pull off an improbable title charge.

Toyota Unveils the New Tundra TRD Pro for the 2022 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series

LAS VEGAS (September 24, 2021) – Earlier this evening at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Toyota unveiled its new race truck for the 2022 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season. For the first time, Toyota will campaign the Toyota Tundra TRD Pro beginning at Daytona International Speedway in February.

Toyota’s commitment to race vehicles that closely resemble production vehicles continues with this all-new Tundra TRD Pro. With the new body for 2022, Toyota is celebrating the launch of all new next generation Tundra models on showroom floors.

Toyota continues as the only OEM that campaigns three different body styles across NASCAR’s top three series. With the Toyota Camry TRD Next Gen Cup Series car that was debuted in May, Toyota will campaign with two new bodies for the 2022 season. The Toyota Supra will continue to compete in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

“The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series has always been extremely important to Toyota not only in our history, but our focus at our dealerships,” said Paul Doleshal, group manager of motorsports for Toyota Motor North America. “The launch of the new Tundra is a really exciting time for our entire organization so to be able to reflect that new styling in our NASCAR Tundra with the TRD Pro design is a reflection of the importance of the series to all of us and allows us to continue ensuring our on-track production resembles its production counterparts that can be found in our Toyota showrooms.”

Toyota’s commitment to the Camping World Truck Series is approaching nearing two decades. Since debuting in 2004, Toyota has claimed eight drivers and 11 manufacturer’s championships. Earlier this season at Daytona International Speedway, Ben Rhodes drove the Tundra to victory lane for the 200th time. Toyota is on pace this season to earn a 12th manufacturer’s championship on the strength of 13 victories to date. Six of the 10 drivers that qualified for this season’s Truck Series Playoffs compete full-time in Tundras.

“All of us at Kyle Busch Motorsports are proud to have carried the Toyota Tundra badging since we started this race team,” said Kyle Busch, team owner of Kyle Busch Motorsports. “Toyota and TRD are always working with us to ensure we’re as competitive as possible on the race track, but also ensuring that the body styling of our Tundras matches what fans can buy in their dealerships. The new Tundra is really aggressive looking and it’s great to see that reflected in our NASCAR Tundras with the TRD Pro badging for the 2022 season.”

The 2022 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro was unveiled to the public on September 19 and is scheduled to make its way to Toyota showrooms later this year. The 2022 NASCAR Toyota Tundra TRD Pro will debut at the Daytona International Speedway on Friday, February 18.

Motor Speedway is the ninth race of 2021 but is the 31st race overall in a multi-year, multi-race deal with the former ARCA Menards Series winner.
Bucked Up is the everyman (or woman) energy drink. We don’t care about the color of your collar; whether blue or white, we all require energy to power our days. We want something that tastes like success, enhances mood and focus, and most of all delivers long-lasting energy.

New Bucked Up Energy Options Available: Bucked Up Energy offers 10 quenching options, but two of their popular flavors, Pink Lemonade and Mango Tango now include low-stim options.

Low-stim has the same innovative ingredients that make their OG formula so powerful for focus, mood, motivation and energy. Bucked Up made just one small change and they have been surprised by the resulting epicness.

Boasting a modest of 100mg of caffeine, Bucked Up Low-Stim delivers the same energy, focus, mood, motivation – while reducing the common side effects that come from too-much caffeine, jitters, sleeplessness and anxiety.

You Can Now Find Us Here: Last week, Bucked Up Energy announced that four of their delicious flavors are now available at Walmart!

The flavors of Blood Raz, Blue Raz, Mango Tango and Rocket Pop are now available for purchase from your local Walmart store.

“When you feel it, you just got Bucked Up!”

Races for Faces: Joe Graf Jr. announced in mid-August that for the second consecutive year, Graf will be virtually participating in myFace’s Races for Faces, an event to raise awareness for myFace, an organization that helps kids and families living with craniofacial differences.

In Loving Memory: This weekend at Las Vegas and for the remainder of the 2021 NASCAR Xfinity Series season, Joe Graf Jr. and SS GreenLight Racing will carry the name of Bray Pemberton on the passenger side name rail of the team’s No. 07 Chevrolet Camaro.

Pemberton passed away on September 8, 2021, after a brief illness.

Pemberton was an instrumental figure in the everyday business and growth of Graf’s motorsports career.

He will be deeply missed by all.

Saving You Some Money: As fall as officially fallen, Joe Graf Jr.’s other marketing partner Z Grills still wants to help the NASCAR community save money – but also enjoy the perfect fall barbecue dinner.

In support of their recent partnership at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway in July, Z Grills Racing (ZGrillsRacing.com) is offering a 10 percent discount off your TOTAL purchase, using the code NASCAR at checkout.

Joe Graf Jr. Xfinity Series Las Vegas Motor Speedway Starts: Joe Graf Jr. will make his fourth career start at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Saturday afternoon’s race.

Joe Graf Jr. Xfinity Series Speedway Stats: At tracks classified as a speedway, Graf has made 29 starts throughout his career carrying an improved average finishing position of 24.0.

Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway | Food City 300 Race Recap: In the most recent NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Bristol, Graf enjoyed a career-best run on a short track in his No. 07 KeepItSecure.net Chevrolet.

After starting 36th, Graf rocketed to inside the top-20 for a majority of the race and even took advantage of a green-white-checkered finish to climb from 19th to 17th.

The effort was a best for Graf in Thunder Valley and the best finish for Graf and his crew chief Joe Williams Jr.

Put Me In Coach: To strengthen his physique, Joe Graf Jr. began working with new trainer and former NASCAR Cup Series Josh Wise during the 2020 offseason.

In addition to Wise, Graf has also been working with former NASCAR driver and open-wheel driver Scott Speed on being more discipline behind the wheel of his No. 07 Bucked Up Energy Chevrolet Camaro.

Sneaker Mania: Along with the adrenaline of the Motorsports competition, Joe Graf Jr. also has a vogue for hype sneakers. In his current collection, he owns and wears at least 85 limited edition sneakers – and his collection continues to grow every month.

The current estimated value of his collection tops $90,000.

From the Pit Box: Industry veteran Joe Williams is Joe Graf Jr.’s crew chief.

He will crew chief his 59th NASCAR Xfinity Series race as crew chief on Saturday afternoon and his third at the 1.5-mile speedway.

In his previous 58 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts, he has collected four top-five and 14 top-10 finishes.

Grosjean joins Andretti Autosport for 2022 IndyCar season

Photo credit: Joe Skibinski (Penske Entertainment).

Andretti Autosport announced that Romain Grosjean will be joining the organization to pilot the No. 28 Dallara-Honda sponsored by DHL on a full-time basis for the 2022 NTT IndyCar Series season.

Grosjean, a 35-year-old Swiss-born French competitor, is currently campaigning on a part-time IndyCar basis for Dale Coyne Racing with Rick Ware Racing. The 2021 season also marks his first season competing in the series.

Before transitioning to IndyCar, Grosjean spent nine full-time seasons in Formula One, where he achieved 10 podium results in 179 career starts and competed between two organizations (Lotus and Haas). Grosjean is also a former champion across multiple motorsports’ regions, including the GP2 Series in 2011, the Auto GP in 2010, the Formula 3 Euro Series in 2007 and the French Formula Renault in 2005. He has also achieved two GP2 Asia Series titles (2008 and 2011).

The 2022 season will mark Grosjean’s first full-time effort in the IndyCar Series, which will include the 106th annual running of the Indianapolis 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 29. In addition, DHL, a partner of Andretti Autosport since 2011, will be remaining with the organization to support Grosjean’s effort as a key primary sponsor in the series. The upcoming IndyCar season is scheduled to commence at the Streets of St. Petersburg in Florida on February 27.

“We are thrilled to welcome Romain to the Andretti Autosport family,” Michael Andretti, CEO and chairman of Andretti Autosport, said. “He already had an impressive resume before coming to INDYCAR and watching what he’s been able to do in his rookie season here has been exciting, to say the least. His vast motorsport experience will be beneficial to the team alongside our already strong 2022 driver lineup. We also couldn’t be more excited to continue our strong partnership with DHL. The DHL sponsorship is one of the longest and most successful in the paddock, and we look forward to continued success on and off the track.”

“We couldn’t be happier to continue our successful partnership with Andretti Autosport, which has provided us with one of our most powerful avenues for connecting people to our global brand,” Mike Parra, CEO of DHL Express Americas, added. “The legendary Andretti organization is run by a winning team whose members we have long considered part of our DHL family, and now we are excited to also welcome their newest driver, Romain Grosjean, to our family. We are thrilled to have such a highly regarded international competitor taking the wheel to represent DHL, and we look forward to a fruitful partnership with Romain and the entire Andretti team, both on and off the track.”

In his first season in IndyCar competition, Grosjean has achieved three podium results, including two runner-up results at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course (May and August) and a third-place result at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, the series’ recent event. He also achieved his maiden pole position at the Indy Road Course in May. Having competed in 12 of 15 scheduled events thus far, Grosjean is scheduled to compete in this weekend’s IndyCar season finale in Long Beach, California.

“I’m delighted to be joining Andretti Autosport and driving the No. 28 DHL Honda for next season,” Grosjean said. “It’s a big honor to be joining such a great team as Andretti; anyone in the motorsport world knows the name Andretti. I’m super happy and proud to be racing with the team. I’m also very proud to be representing with DHL. I’ve known the DHL color on racing cars for a very long time. I couldn’t be more proud to represent such a great company in INDYCAR. I’m hoping that we are going to be very successful together, which is our aim on every side. I would like also to thank Dale Coyne Racing for giving me the opportunity to join INDYCAR. I’ve enjoyed the racing so much and it’s given me the change today to be racing with one of the most competitive and best teams in the world.”

Grosjean’s entrance to Andretti Autosport means that he will be replacing Ryan Hunter-Reay, a veteran and former champion of the Indianapolis 500 and the IndyCar Series. Grosjean will also be a teammate to Colton Herta and Alexander Rossi, both of whom will remain at Andretti for 2022.

INDYCAR To Sanction, Promote Indy Lights Series Following 2021 Season

North America’s Premier Open-Wheel Racing Series Taking Stewardship of Legendary Support Program

INDIANAPOLIS (Friday, Sept. 24, 2021) – As part of today’s Penske Entertainment Corp. Year in Review News Conference in Long Beach, California, PEC President and CEO Mark Miles announced that INDYCAR and Andersen Promotions Owner and CEO Dan Andersen have agreed that INDYCAR will become the sanctioning body and promoter of the Indy Lights series after the 2021 season.

Indy Lights is the final step on the successful Road to Indy ladder system that develops drivers and teams to compete in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge. Cooper Tires will continue as a trusted partner for the Road to Indy and provide tires for all three developmental series.

“For many years, Dan Andersen has been integral to the success of Indy Lights,” Miles said. “His leadership since his group took over promotion in 2014 was crucial. However, with the Penske acquisition of INDYCAR, we have an opportunity to bring the series in-house, which we think can provide greater opportunity for the growth of the top level of the ladder series.”

Over its 35-year history, Indy Lights has provided an excellent pipeline for open-wheel’s future stars. Paul Tracy, Cristiano da Matta, Tony Kanaan, Scott Dixon and Josef Newgarden are former Indy Lights champions who have gone on to become INDYCAR SERIES champions. Currently, 20 drivers in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES are Indy Lights graduates, including rising stars and 2021 race winners Colton Herta, Pato O’Ward and Rinus VeeKay. 2019 Indy Lights champion Oliver Askew found success in each of Andersen Promotions’ Road to Indy programs (Indy Lights, Indy Pro 2000, and USF2000) and is among the eight former champions who have joined the bold and daring athletes of the 2021 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season.

Andersen Promotions will continue stewardship of Indy Pro 2000 and USF2000.

“It has been our pleasure and honor to oversee the promotion and organization of Indy Lights for these past eight seasons,” Andersen said. “We are proud of the results demonstrated by the quick success of our many recent graduates. The Road to Indy works as a training program, and we will continue to develop young drivers and move them up to Indy Lights and, ultimately, the NTT INDYCAR SERIES.”

In recent years, there have been many inspiring and successful stories of growing Indy Lights teams that have groomed drivers and crew members for the elite level of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. This season, Juncos Hollinger Racing joins Carlin, Andretti Autosport and Arrow McLaren SP as INDYCAR SERIES teams that have competed in Indy Lights.

“It is about strengthening the pipeline to the NTT INDYCAR SERIES,” Miles said. “We want to grow Indy Lights into an even stronger link and final step for drivers, teams and sponsor partners leading to the most audacious and competitive open-wheel series on the planet.”

The 2022 Indy Lights schedule and remaining details will be released at a later date.

GMG Ready For The Roar on the Shore in Long Beach

With a storied history consisting of tense competition, embattled victories, and one of the most difficult courses on the racing calendar, GMG welcomes back its home race, The Long Beach Grand Prix, after the event was red flagged for 2020. 2021 will mark the 15th anniversary of GMG’s first entry back in 2006, driving a Porsche 996 Cup Car in the World Challenge series, now known as SRO Competition. Since then, GMG has competed at the same circuit with the ALMS series in 2010 and 2011.

While the technical and difficult track hasn’t changed, GMG will face a new challenge this year, entering the highly competitive class of IMSA GTD, fielding the formidable Porsche 911 GT3R. Combined with a team of unwavering and steadfast work ethic, GMG have made every possible preparation to continue the success they’ve enjoyed on the Streets of Long Beach.

Sitting just 25 minutes south of the famed the circuit resides the Headquarters for GMG’s performance tuning, engineering, and race shop. Because of the proximity to Long Beach, this event is their home race and personal proving grounds for their line of performance parts that carry the moniker, “proven on the track, refined for the street”.

Kyle Washington, James Sofronas’ Co-Pilot, who acquired his first Porsche Cup and GT3R race Car less than 2 years ago, has made a tremendous impact in the racing world in that short amount of time. He‘s secured impressive finishes in the SRO GT3, recently battling for a 3rd place in GT America class at Road America.

The duo of James and Kyle initially met at the acclaimed Thermal Club, a gorgeous, world-class motorsports facility, located just outside of Palm Springs which will also play host to GMG’s new 25,000 sq ft. motorsports facility opening in 2023. Their friendship has developed into a strong bond, a bond that will help them co-pilot their GT3R in this weekend’s highly anticipated Roar on the Shore event.

James Sofronas — “I’m extremely excited to be back at Long Beach! The atmosphere for this event is electric and I have always looked forward to competing here since my first time back in 2006. To have Kyle Washington as my teammate makes it extra special as we’ve been training together for the last 18 months to build up to an event like this. Being our home race, we’ll have many friends/family members and guests in attendance and the GMG crew is ready for the challenge. Kyle is an extremely talented athlete and combined with his tenacity, has proven that the hard work he puts in pays off. He’s also an amazing friend and when we are racing together, there is no lack of excitement when he is in our paddock. This event is going to be an epic. I want to thank all our sponsors, especially Circle Porsche who have been key to not only our racing, but have been so helpful in our street car performance side of our business. Mike Earnst and his team are first class every time and we couldn’t do this without them.”

Kyle Washington — “This is a bucket list race for me, with James and I having worked so hard for nearly 2 years to be able to get here. The GMG team have become almost a second family to me and I feel very honored to battle for the podium knowing how much professionalism they’ve put into our car setup. I hope we can bring home a great result after this massive effort. I want to Thank my Family and everyone who’s been behind me not only here in Long beach, but during this entire season. Centr, Eboost, DraganFly, Seaspan, and Troy Lee Designs.”

Race time is 2:05pm PST and will be broadcast live on NBC Sports network.

About Mobil 1
Conventional oil is simply refined crude oil. Mobil 1 synthetic oil, however, is not only refined, but it is also distilled, purified, and broken down into its basic molecules. It is then rebuilt and added to, so that it can better protect against wear, high heat, cold weather and sludge buildup. Ultimately, this process helps your car’s engine run better for longer. AUSTIN DILLON QUOTE:
What are your thoughts on Las Vegas Motor Speedway?
“Las Vegas Motor Speedway has always been one of my favorite tracks. It’s always been a rough place as far as Turn 1 goes. Being able to turn through the bumps is very important. In Turn 3, it is important not to miss the entry. It starts there. The track has gotten a lot of character over the last couple of years, and that is what makes it fun to drive on. You really have to challenge yourself to be disciplined on your marks. I really enjoy the track. I’m looking forward to going there this weekend in the BetMGM Chevrolet.”

Tyler Reddick and the No. 8 Cat Trials 11: Hot Wheels Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE at Las Vegas Motor Speedway… Reddick has three previous NASCAR Cup Series starts at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, all behind the wheel of the No. 8 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet. The 25-year-old has previously found Victory Lane at the 1.5-mile track with wins in both the NASCAR Xfinity Series (2019) and the NASCAR Truck Series (2016), while also collecting a total of four top-10 finishes in eight starts between the two series.

Chasing a Trio of Wins in Vegas… With victories at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in both the Xfinity Series and Truck Series already under his belt, Reddick is looking to complete the trio in Sin City with a win in the premier series. The Corning, California native would only be the second driver to achieve this accomplishment.

TYLER REDDICK QUOTE:
What is your outlook heading into Las Vegas Motor Speedway?
“Going to Vegas will be a good blast. Earlier this year at Vegas, we were at a rough point for our team. We were not happy with the pace of cars or a lot of things honestly. I believe we had to pit for a tire rub or loose wheel during the race; it just wasn’t the best day for us. We were really feeling down our ourselves leaving Vegas in the spring, so I’m excited to see how we have improved as a team going back. Our RCR Chevrolet Camaros have gotten much better from that point to now, so it’s going to be exciting to see how much better we are currently. Even though we are no longer in the Playoffs, we are not going to ride it out. We are going to be aggressive and keep getting better. We’ll see how it all plays out in our Cat Trials 11: Hot Wheels Camaro on Sunday.”

Myatt Snider and the No. 2 Alsco Uniforms Chevrolet Camaro at Las Vegas Motor Speedway… Snider has three career NASCAR Xfinity Series starts at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, starting from the pole position in two of the three events. The Charlotte, N.C. native has also competed in three NASCAR Truck Series races, posting a sixth-place result in 2018.

Let the Playoffs Begin… With Snider’s win at Homestead-Miami Speedway in the third race of the 2021 season, the No. 2 Richard Childress Racing team punched their ticket into the Xfinity Series Playoffs. The 26-year-old enters the Playoffs as the ninth seed and Saturday will mark the start of his first Playoffs appearance in just his second full season.

MYATT SNIDER QUOTES:
Week one of the Playoffs is here. How important is it to have a good run at Las Vegas Motor Speedway?
“It sets the tone for your Playoffs for sure. I feel good about where we are as a team though. I didn’t have quite as good of a race as I would have liked in the spring Vegas, but it has always historically been a place that I run good at. The key to this first round is being consistent and running inside the top-10. If you do that, the results will start showing. Our No. 2 Alsco Uniforms team isn’t going to make any big changes and I think we will have the speed needed when moving forward into the Playoffs.”

How are you preparing for the next seven weeks?
“The good thing is here at Richard Childress Racing, I have Austin Dillon and Tyler Reddick that I can lean on. Both have really good experience at the Cup Series level and obviously Tyler has won two Xfinity Series championships recently which is good advice to lean on. Tyler and I actually share the same trainer, so I see him often and then I come here to the shop to talk to Austin on a weekly basis to discuss how to approach things. Both have been extremely helpful, not just with driving race cars, but with dealing with stuff outside of the race car.”

With the Playoffs are starting, how do you reflect on your win at Homestead-Miami that now puts you in a battle for the championship?
“It’s really nice for sure. But it was both a benefit and drawback for me personally. It was benefit, because I’m obviously in the Playoffs. The drawback was that it forced me to really learn some hard lessons. I went into the season with a lot of confidence. The first three races – at Daytona, Daytona Road Course and Homestead – were really solid from being in contention for the win at both Daytona races and then winning at Homestead. I had a lot of confidence, but that confidence blinded some things that I wasn’t dealing with and addressing in order to move forward. The bulk of the season has been working on those things, learning how to do my job better and ultimately getting better overall. That is part of this job. The good thing is that we did win early though, which was a blessing, and it opened up some doors for me to get ready for this point of the season.”

As a competitor, how have you been able to separate some of the challenges throughout the season and make sure you’re prepared for these next few weeks?
“For me, it’s making sure I’m taking care of myself during this time. It’s so easy to become so focused and caught up in all this that you forget to let yourself have fun. I get to drive race cars, which is inherently a really fun thing to do. I can’t let the fact be lost that I’m getting to live out my dream thanks to my great partners – TaxSlayer, Louisiana Hot Sauce, Superior Essex, Crosley Furniture and Alsco Uniforms – and have the chance to drive for a great team at RCR. I have to keep things in perspective, not lose focus of my goals and not stare too far down the road.”

Wait ends for Justice Brothers as racing returns to streets of Long Beach

LONG BEACH, Calif. (24 Sept. 2021) – With their home race – the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach – set to once again roar through the streets of the California seaside city, the nearly year and a half wait is over for Justice Brothers.

The Duarte, California-based company will be supporting top contenders in both of the weekend’s major races, featuring the NTT IndyCar Series and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

For the IndyCar event, Justice Brothers supports Meyer Shank Racing with 2021 Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves in the No. 06 Honda, and Jack Harvey in the No. 60 Honda.

The company’s involvement with IndyCar dates back to 1946, when Zeke Justice was a member of George Robson’s winning team in the Indianapolis 500 Four years later, Johnny Parsons drove a Justice-sponsored car to victory – an achievement that brought Justice Brothers and their products international recognition. In 1977, the Justice family was aboard A.J. Foyt’s winning Coyote when he became the first four-time Indy 500. Last May, Castroneves became the event’s fourth four-time winner, driving a Meyer Shank Racing car sponsored by Justice Brothers.

Justice Brothers also has a winning involvement in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship that headline’s Saturday’s racing program. Ricky Taylor and Filipe Albuquerque hold a 91-point lead in the premier DPi standings with only two races remaining. The pair opened the year by winning the Rolex 24 At Daytona, and added victories at Mid-Ohio and the most recent event at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in Wayne Taylor Racing’s No. 10 Konica Minolta Acura ARX-05.

The company has sponsored Wayne Taylor Racing for the past nine years, winning the Rolex 24 At Daytona four times – 2017 and the past three years. Ricky Taylor and Albuquerque were joined by Indy 500 winners Castroneves and Alexander Rossi in winning this year’s event.

Brothers Zeke, Ed and Gus Justice founded the Justice Brothers Race Car Repair and Fabrication Shop in 1946. Two years later, they relocated to Jacksonville, Florida, but returned to California in 1956 and began developing their own brand of quality automotive products 10 years later at their headquarters in Duarte.

“We are so excited and grateful to have racing back at Long Beach again this weekend,” said Ed Justice Jr., who is looking forward to being back at the track along with his family. “This event is such a staple for California car culture. We’ve got a lot of friends to catch up with in the paddock and I know that our employees and our clients in this area are just thrilled to get out and have a great weekend.”
