B. FORCE, CAPPS, ANDERSON AND A. SMITH CLAIM NO. 1 SPOTS AT NHRA SONOMA NATIONALS

SONOMA, Calif. – Looking for her first Top Fuel victory of the 2021 season, Brittany Force put together a trio of strong runs in qualifying at Sonoma Raceway, ending up in the No. 1 spot on Saturday at the 33rd annual NHRA Sonoma Nationals.

Ron Capps (Funny Car), Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) and Angie Smith (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also qualified No. 1 in their respective categories at the ninth race of the 2021 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season and the second of the famed three-race NHRA Western Swing.

Force’s impressive run of 3.694-seconds at 329.42 mph from Friday in her 11,000-horsepower Flav-R-Pac dragster gave her the No. 1 position for the second straight race. It’s also her fourth No. 1 qualifier of the year and 24th in her career, and she’ll open raceday against Ron August. She also posted a stout run of 3.716 at 330.31, which is the fastest run of the weekend in the class, to close out qualifying, giving Force added confidence she can pick up a win after two runner-up finishes this year.

“We want that win,” Force said. “In Ohio a few weeks back, we had a runner-up finish and it felt good to get there, but we want to complete the thing and end up in the winner’s circle. We had outstanding runs from my entire team this weekend. We had three solid runs and I’m happy about that, and I’m looking forward to raceday tomorrow.”

After struggling during the first two sessions, three-time defending world champ and points leader Steve Torrence shot to the second spot in the final qualifier, going 3.710 at 329.67 as he looks to keep his shot of sweeping the Western Swing alive. Antron Brown will start raceday from third after going 3.724 at 326.71.

Funny Car’s Capps maintained the No. 1 position on the strength of his run of 3.897 at 328.78 from Friday in his 11,000-horsepower NAPA Auto Parts Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, giving him three No. 1 qualifiers this year and 28 in his longtime career. Capps, who is looking for his first victory of the season, will meet Tony Jurado in the opening round of eliminations and is focused on getting a win at a track that means a great deal to him.

“I’ve been doing this long enough, and this whole team gives me the confidence,” said Capps, who has four Sonoma wins. “Qualifying well is all about the team. I can’t say enough for the fans out here. I love all of these fans.”

Alexis DeJoria finished in the second spot after her run of 3.898 at 325.61 from Friday, while Capps’ Don Schumacher Racing teammate, Denver winner Matt Hagan, will look to win his second straight race after qualifying third with a 3.909 at 328.94.

Anderson remained dominant in Pro Stock qualifying, continuing his torrid pace in that regard with his run of 6.513 at 210.44 in his HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro. It now gives Anderson his seventh No. 1 qualifier in eight Pro Stock races this season and an incredible 113 in his standout career. Anderson, the current points leader, will open eliminations against Steve Graham, again trying to gain his 97th career win and tie Warren Johnson for the most in Pro Stock history.

“The HendrickCars.com Chevy is fast, as it has been all year and it’s all on me to try and get it done tomorrow at one of my favorite racetracks,” said Anderson, a six-time Sonoma winner. “I can’t wait to get after it.”

KB Racing teammate Kyle Koretsky finished off two solid days of qualifying by taking the second spot with a run of 6.522 at 211.06 and defending world champ Erica Enders is third thanks to her 6.524 at 210.67

A. Smith capped off a wild, record-setting day of qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle by earning her first career No. 1 qualifier with an impressive run of 6.736 at 203.06 on her Denso Auto Parts EBR. Smith’s run came during the final qualifying session after watching her husband, Matt, take the top spot and make the fastest run in class history with a pass of 205.04 earlier in the day. But A. Smith answered with her strong pass to close out the day, giving her plenty of momentum heading into eliminations.

“It is so tough out here and for me to be No. 1, I’m so proud of this Denso team,” A. Smith said. “We did a motor swap in 30 minutes on my bike and I was pretty bummed after the last round. To go my career-best, to go 203 (mph), I couldn’t be more proud of this entire team. Everyone that helps us, I couldn’t be more proud to give them a yellow hat as the No. 1 qualifier and hopefully I can get a blue (winner’s hat) tomorrow.”

Karen Stoffer made a big jump in the final session as well, going all the way to second thanks to her 6.750 at 198.61. Steve Johnson is third after his pass of 6.751 at 199.94. Points leader M. Smith, who won in Denver to open the Western Swing, got bumped to fourth in the final session.

CAPPS, B. FORCE, HARTFORD AND HINES TAKE PROVISIONAL NO. 1 SPOTS AT NHRA SONOMA NATIONALS

SONOMA, Calif. – Ron Capps impressed under the lights on Friday at Sonoma Raceway, powering to the provisional No. 1 spot in Funny Car at the 33rd annual NHRA Sonoma Nationals.

Brittany Force (Top Fuel), Matt Hartford (Pro Stock) and Andrew Hines (Pro Stock Motorcycle) are also provisional No. 1 qualifiers in their respective categories at the ninth race of the 2021 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season and the second of the famed three-race NHRA Western Swing.

Capps went 3.897-seconds at 328.78 mph in his 11,000-horsepower NAPA Auto Parts Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat during the lone qualifying session, making the best run of the night in the class. If it holds for the California native, Capps would pick up his third No. 1 qualifier in 2021 and 28th in his career. The veteran and former world champ is also trying to earn his first win of the season and Sonoma would mark the perfect location for Capps to do it.

“This race, for me, it’s a home race,” Capps said. “I grew up not far from here and there’s a lot of family and friends here. This race is always cool for me, and the fans here are waiting for you and they make you feel so good. This is what it’s all about. I came here as a kid as a crew member and to be in a racecar and make a run on this track with the sun going down, it’s epic. It’s so cool to look up at the grandstands and see a packed house.”

Alexis DeJoria claimed the second spot on Friday for the second straight race after going 3.898 at 325.61 and Matt Hagan, who won last weekend in Denver, took third after the first qualifying session with a run of 3.909 at 328.94

In Top Fuel, Force was the first driver to reach the 3.60s, going 3.694 at 329.42 in her 11,000-horsepower Flav-R-Pac dragster to claim the No. 1 spot on Friday. A week after setting the track record in Denver, Force is trying for another No. 1 qualifier to claim the top spot for the fourth time this season and 24th time in her career. Force is also attempting to win for the first time this season. Antron Brown is currently second after going 3.724 at 326.71, while his teammate, Leah Pruett, is directly behind thanks to her pass of 3.749 at 323.97.

Hartford is on track to accomplish a major first in his standout Pro Stock career, going 6.533 at 209.92 in his Total Seal Chevrolet Camaro. That gave him the provisional No. 1 position on Friday and should it hold, Hartford, who has one win this season, would grab his first career No. 1 qualifier in the class. Hartford will have his work cut out for him as ideal conditions are slated for Saturday’s final two rounds of qualifying, but the veteran is off to a strong start. His KB Racing teammate Kyle Koretsky is currently second thanks to his run of 6.538 at 209.65 and Aaron Stanfield is a spot behind after going 6.548 at 209.69.

Hines made a major move to open the weekend in Pro Stock Motorcycle, jumping to the top spot after his run of 6.761 at 201.67 on his Vance & Hines Buell. If it holds, Hines would qualify No. 1 for the first time this season and 45th time in his career. The 2019 race winner has a history of success at Sonoma Raceway and will be looking for his fourth win at the facility and first victory of the 2021 campaign. Points leader and defending world champ Matt Smith is right behind, going 6.769 and setting the track speed record with a blistering pass of 203.28. His wife, Angie, is third after she went 6.773 at 200.50.

Qualifying continues at 12:00 p.m. PT on Saturday at the NHRA Sonoma Nationals.

Yount and Hildebrand to Race NTE Sport Audi R8 LMS for Road America IMSA SportsCar Weekend

DALLAS, Tex., (July 23, 2021) – Following a successful fourth-place finish at the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen last month, Audi Sport Customer Racing team NTE Sport is back in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship next month for the IMSA SportsCar Weekend at Road America. The No. 42 Audi R8 LMS will be piloted by returning drivers Don Yount and JR Hildebrand.

“We’re excited to be competing in our first WeatherTech sprint race,” said Team Owner Paul Mata. “We have some great momentum from our fourth-place finish at the Glen, and I can’t wait for our team to get on the ground at Road America. Having JR back is just icing on the cake. He did great at Daytona, and we’re thrilled to have him back as our program is continuing to progress.”

Yount and Hildebrand previously teamed up together with Andrew Davis and Alan Metni for NTE Sport’s debut in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship debut at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona in January. While the team’s run ended early use to an issue with the gearbox, the Texas-based team returned in July for the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen, with Yount, Jaden Conwright, and Markus Palttala. In an impressively stacked field, the No. 42 Audi R8 LMS finished fourth; a strong finish for the team’s second-ever race in the series.

“I’m looking forward to getting back in the car with JR and seeing what the Audi can do at Road America,” said Yount. “It’s one of my favorite tracks and I’m sure NTE will bring a sorted, complete racecar to the fight.”

Road America will welcome fans back into the paddock for the entirety of the weekend and be the first race since 2020 to hold a series-wide autograph session. Fans can meet the drivers and receive signed posters and hero cards at the team’s garage on Sunday, August 8 starting at 10:45 AM Eastern.

“I can’t wait to jump back in the NTe car at Road America,” said Hildebrand. “It’s such an awesome track. Anytime you get a chance to race there, is a great opportunity. It looked like the guys definitely got dialed in at the Glen, so I’m looking forward to hopping in with Don to see what we can do!”

NTE Sport will load in and set up for the IMSA SportsCar Weekend at Road America on Thursday, August 6 before practice sessions begin Friday evening. Saturday, August 7 will host the final practice session, followed by two separate qualifying sessions for the GTD class: one for Sunday’s starting position, and the other for additional championship points.

The two-hour, forty-minute race will begin on Sunday, August 8 at 1:40 PM Central, airing live on NBC Sports Gold’s TRACKPASS streaming service. IMSA Radio will also offer live coverage worldwide from the event for qualifying and the race. For full event information, visit imsa.com.

Trans Am Returns to Portland for 28th Visit with West Coast Championship

PORTLAND, Ore. (23 July 2021) – When the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli a West Coast Championship returns to Portland International Raceway on July 23-25, it will mark the 28th visit for Trans Am to the historic circuit.

While the National Series last raced at Portland in 2009, the Trans Am West Coast Championship competed at the circuit from 2017 through 2019. All three events won by ageless legend Greg Pickett, a Portland Trans Am winner back in 1984. (VIDEO: Full Race- Trans Am at Portland 2001)

Tomy Drissi – currently second in the National TA points – won the most recent Portland National Series race in 2009. The Hollywood, Calif., veteran also finished third at Portland in the 2018 West Coast race during his successful run to the championship.

Portland first hosted Trans Am in 1972, with a Two-Five Challenge race for sub-compact sedans. Peter Brock Enterprises dominated the series that year with Simonize-sponsored Datsun 510s. Lead driver John Morton won six of the 11 races, including Portland where he beat out popular NASCAR West Coast champion Hershel McGriff, driving Brock’s “guest” car.

Legendary Corvette campaigner John Greenwood won the first National Trans Am at Portland in 1975 despite starting 18th. Greenwood needed 18 laps to take the lead in his 427cc Corvette, and then led all but two of the final 33 circuits. It was Greenwood’s second of three victories that would carry him to the 1975 title.

The 1981 Portland race featured a 49-car entry won by Bob Tullius in his Group 44 Jaguar XJS. Tullius edged out the Corvette of Eppie Wietzes by 0.330-seconds, with John Bauer’s Porsche 911 a very close third as three former champions made up the podium.

Portland’s Neil DeAtley joined the Trans Am full-time in 1983, winning at his home track with Willy T. Ribbs taking the checkered flag in DeAtley’s Budweiser Camaro – nosing out Pickett’s Corvette by 0.600-seconds. Pickett came back the following year and won in a Jack Roush Mercury Capri – making Pickett the leading money winner in Trans Am history at the time.

Wally Dallenbach Jr. won back-to-back in 1985-86, taking races in a Roush Capri and a Protofab Camaro. The next dominant team was Paul Gentilozzi’s Rocketsports, winning five Portland features with five different drivers. West Coast star Darin Brassfield won in 1990 and Irv Hoerr in 1991, both in Oldsmobile Cutlass Supremes. Rocketsports later won the final three TA Nationals at Portland, with Gentilozzi in 2004, Klaus Graf in 2005 and Drissi in 2009, all driving Jaguar XKRs.

In between the Rocketsports victories, Ron Fellows ran off three consecutive triumphs from 1993-95, winning two in a Tom Gloy Mercury Capri and the later event in a Buz McCall Camaro.

The Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli West Coast Championship will have a full day of testing on Friday to get up to speed before the official race weekend starts on Saturday with and all-class practice starting at 11:40 a.m. Pacific followed by qualifying at 4:20 p.m. Pacific. The drivers will take the green on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. Pacific for 51 laps or 75 minutes.

Max Gutiérrez and Rette Jones Racing set to tackle Iowa Speedway

NEWTON, IA: The summer break for the ARCA Menards Series East tour ends as Rette Jones Racing and developmental driver Max Gutiérrez head to the Midwest to compete in Saturday night’s Shore Lunch 150 at Iowa Speedway.

Saturday’s combination race for the premier ARCA Menards Series and the East Series tour thrusts the divisions into a limelight where the competition will fierce but certainly presents an opportunity.
Iowa marks the second appearance in the premier ARCA Menards Series for Gutiérrez who made his second series start in May at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway.

Despite his inexperience on the bigger and much faster intermediate race track, Gutiérrez impressed.

Qualifying 13th, Gutiérrez raced into the top-10 before a flat tire late in the event relegated the team to a 15th place finish. Still, the team is upbeat that they can return to the tour and finish what they started at Charlotte.

“I’m looking forward to being back on the United States side and racing in ARCA competition at Iowa Speedway,” said Gutiérrez who scored a thrilling victory in the ARCA Menards Series East season opener at New Smyrna in February.

“Charlotte was a great opportunity for myself and our RJR team but unfortunately we did not earn the finish I felt like we were capable of. Iowa is a race where we can do that though and I’m optimistic as well that we can perhaps contend for more than a top-10 finish on Saturday night.”

Gutiérrez has flourished on short tracks this season. In five ARCA East races in 2021, all on short tracks, the Mexico City, Mexico native has scored five top-10 finishes, including the victory in February and maintains an average finish of 6.4 leading into the series’ sixth race of the season.

Nestled fourth in the championship standings, just seven points from second-place contender Mason Diaz – Gutiérrez, driver of the No. 30 TOUGHBUILT Ford Fusion realizes keeping his consistency alive at Iowa’s popular 0.875-mile race track is crucial.

“We certainly did not have the finish we were hoping for at Southern National and that put us a little behind in the point standings,” admitted Gutiérrez. “It is not from a lack of effort from our Rette Jones Racing team. We are going to rebound, and I hope it is in a big way on Saturday night and we can recover the points we lost last month.”

In addition to TOUGHBUILT.

TekNekk and Jimmy Morales Escuderia TELMEX | TELCEL, BolsaDX.mx, Distributed Ledger Inc. (DLI), GoGig, Ford Performance, Goodridge Fluid Transfer Systems, Jones Group Demolition and Abatement and JRi Shocks join the Mooresville, N.C.-based team as partners this weekend.

“I like racing at Iowa Speedway, and I hope our prior experience as a team helps Max contend for our second victory of the season on Saturday night,” said team co-owner and crew chief Mark Rette.

“Everyone was disappointed the way that Southern National turned out, but it just put some fuel on our fire to go out there and dig deeper. Max has been enthusiastic about getting back to the U.S. and racing and we are too.

“We have a good baseline of where we want to be when we unload for practice on Saturday, so we start from there and just look to get better and see if we can’t help get Max back in Victory Lane.”

RJR is co-owned by Canadian entrepreneur and former race car driver Terry Jones.

What are the benefits of using cash for cars in San Jose instead of leasing a vehicle?

Photo by Yuvraj Singh on Unsplash

You might think that leasing a car is the best idea for you – however, other businesses can provide you with a better offer than leasing or buying a vehicle! Let’s see the difference between leasing and another selling method that can be more effective in the long run.

Leasing vs. cash for cars San Jose! Which one is better?

What is leasing? Well, leasing is the ability to just put down monthly payments for a vehicle so you can drive a vehicle for less per month than you would with buying a car. If you are considering leasing an expensive car that you otherwise would not be able to afford, using leasing can help give you that option to be able to drive around the car of your dreams!

However, the unfortunate thing about leasing is that when the trial period ends, you are not the owner of the vehicle. When compared to buying a car and putting down money per month for a vehicle, leasing does not give you any ownership of the car at the end of the lease term – so it can end up being less of a smart investment than other methods when it comes to getting a new vehicle. Instead of leasing a car or finding out another selling method to make money on your vehicle, utilize cash for cars San Jose to help you earn cold hard cash – fast!

In addition, with leasing a car, you typically need to have some good background information that can influence the leasing agent or dealership to provide you with a good price. You need to have good credit to lease a car, with the average credit score of people leasing vehicles in 2020 being at least 733 – which is in the “Good” range according to the FICO Credit score.

Furthermore, you must make monthly lease payments in exchange for the leasing agent letting you “rent” the car and drive it around. These monthly payments might be cheaper than you would pay for owning a vehicle, but it does not help contribute to payment at the end for ownership – meaning these monthly payments can be an all-for-nothing situation in the long run.

In comparison, if you use cash for cars in San Jose, you can immediately get cash for your car in no time at all! Instead of leasing a car or finding out another method to sell your vehicle for money, you can use cash for cars in San Jose and easily tow your vehicle away to get paid on the spot. All you have to do is call the number, fill out the form, answer a few questions, and that’s it!

Conclusion

Instead of leasing a car or figuring out how to sell your car for money the hard way, use cash for cars in San Jose so you can earn money on the spot! All you have to do is a few simple steps and then you can earn money for your vehicle.

3 Things to Know Before Purchasing Motor Trade Insurance

Photo by Scott Graham on Unsplash

Regardless of whether you buy, sell, or valet vehicles for a living, there are so many things that you need to take into consideration before becoming the successful business you know you can be. From hiring experienced staff to finding a location and looking for the relevant insurance, all these factors will play a part in the successful operating of your business.

When it comes to looking for motor trade insurance, you need a policy for selling your cars, as otherwise, it will be hard for you to provide all the services you want to offer as a business. Whilst this may sound like a lot of information to take in, the following steps can help to make your life easier when it comes to purchasing the best motor trade insurance policy for your business.

What Type of Policies Are There?

Trade insurance policies tend to offer you coverage for Public Liability and Employers’ Liability. The former means that your business will be protected should a client or member of the public states that they have been injured or their property has been damaged due to a service that your business offers. It helps to protect the business owner against these claims if they endure legal proceedings. On the other hand, Employers’ Liability Insurance safeguards businesses against legal and compensation expenses made by claims from their employees. Again, this is an important thing to look for when shopping for motor trade insurance.

On the other hand, you will also need to look for a motor trade insurance plan that includes a Road Risk Policy. Put simply, this helps to protect you on the road if you are required to drive cars that belong to customers or unsold stock. However, it is important to note that this will only cover vehicles that are kept at a business address, so you will need to make sure this policy includes coverage for your premises. If it does, then you are good to go.

Which Vehicles Can Be Driven and Who Is Authorised?

There are many things that you need to think about when hiring staff for your car-related business. In many cases, the most important factors to look for are whether they have the skills and experience needed to perform their tasks to the highest quality. That being said, you also need to make sure that you designate a few employees to the task of moving the vehicles that are in your care. Whilst it may be important to only name approved drivers on this list, it may be in your best interest to speak with your insurance broker to make sure that only the right people are insured to do this task, particularly if you employ people under a certain age or apprentices.

Don’t forget that some policies could include restrictions based on the type of vehicles they can cover. For example, if you work on something that you know to have extra value, or it being out of the ordinary, you need to let your broker know. This could include servicing performance cars, commercial vehicles, agricultural vehicles, and motorbikes. The more information you can tell your broker, the better position you will be in.

Amount of Coverage Needed

Before deciding to purchase an insurance policy, you need to make sure that you look over how much you will receive in the event of a claim. This is called the Indemnity Level. If the value of the claim exceeds this amount, you could be expected to make up the rest of this cost, so you may need to make sure that you keep your finances in check to ensure you can pay this amount if you are required. Again, if you’re unsure or worried about how to proceed with this area of your insurance policy, it will be in your best interest to listen to the advice of your broker who will be able to assess the types of risks your business faces, as well as ensuring that your limit is not too low.

Buying a motor trade insurance policy can be complicated, but if you follow the steps from this guide, as well as taking in all the information that your broker will give you, this process will be significantly easier to handle. Once done, you will be able to operate your business to the highest standard, as you will know that you have the relevant insurance in place should anything occur.

Chase Elliott and Alex Bowman assessed L1 penalties after New Hampshire

NASCAR issued L1 penalties to the No. 9 team of Chase Elliott and the No. 48 team of Alex Bowman Thursday afternoon. It was determined that the teams had violated Section 20.6.1e in the NASCAR Rule Book.

The rule under engine assembly states that when the long block is sealed, “the engine must be used in the same vehicle number the next time it is used.”

As a result of the infraction, both teams had 25 points deducted from the driver and team owner standings. Alan Gustafson, the No. 9 team crew chief, and Greg Ives, the No. 48 crew chief, were each issued a $50,000 fine.

NASCAR also suspended Hendrick Motorsports executive vice president and general manager, Jeff Andrews, and Scott Maxim, HMS director of track engine support, for the next Cup Series event.

Hendrick Motorsports issued a statement on the penalties.

“Due to an administrative error, one of our sealed engines assigned to the No. 9 car was unintentionally allocated to our No. 48 team at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Although the engine passed technical inspection and absolutely no competitive advantage was gained, we acknowledge NASCAR’s process was not followed correctly in this instance. The rules regarding the assignment of sealed engines are clear, and we understand and respect their decision to issue a penalty. We apologize for the mistake and have taken steps to ensure it will not be repeated.”

All of the Hendrick Motorsports drivers are currently eligible to advance to the Playoffs. The penalty moves Elliott (2 wins) from fifth place to sixth in the standings while Bowman (3 wins) remains in 11th place. Kyle Larson is currently second with four wins and William Byron, with one win, is third.

There are only four Cup Series races left in the regular season with the next scheduled race at Watkins Glen International on Aug. 8.
