Gabriel Aubry to Sub for Ryan Dalziel in 4 Hours of Le Castellet

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., (May 24, 2021) – In less than two weeks, Circuit Paul Ricard will roar to life with the next round of the European Le Mans Series, the 4 Hours of Le Castellet. Due to a scheduling conflict for Ryan Dalziel in GT World Challenge America, the No. 17 IDEC SPORT / Era Motorsport Oreca LMP2 car will see Frenchman Gabriel Aubry sub for the full-season driver in the third round of the championship.

Dalziel, who currently sits third in the GT World Challenge America Pro/Am points with DXDT Racing and co-driver David Askew, will be racing his third round of the U.S. championship at Watkins Glen International. The 2021 schedules for each series originally lined up to be conflict-free, but the date-change for the 24 Hours of Le Mans due to the COVID-19 pandemic led to the European Le Mans Series changing two rounds to avoid further overlap.

Aubry will be a strong substitute, having first competed with IDEC SPORT in the European Le Mans Series in 2018. The young Frenchman has raced against Era Motorsport stateside twice so far in the 2021 season, finishing second at the Rolex 24 At Daytona and third at the Twelve Hours of Sebring.

“I find it nice to have competed with Era Motorsport at the 24 Hours of Daytona and to come and ride with them in this race,” said Aubry. “We know each other a little because we talked in the paddock. I get along very well with Kyle. I think we are clearly here for the victory in Pro / Am but, that Ryan (Dalziel) don’t worry, I will return the car to him in the same condition as it is now.”

Aubry will join full-season drivers Kyle Tilley and Dwight Merriman, who have two European Le Mans Series events under their belts, in their rookie season. The trio will tackle the 4 Hours of Le Castellet on June 6, heading to France earlier in the week for the first test and practice sessions of the event. Front Row Motorsports Makes Most of Texas Trip

A Recap of the Weekend Past

The NASCAR Cup and Truck Series made their inaugural debut at Circuit of The Americas this weekend.

Todd Gilliland and the No. 38 Crosley Brands team captured the inaugural NASCAR Truck Series win.

Michael McDowell and his No. 34 Love’s Travel Stops | Outwest Express Ford Mustang earn a 7th-place finish in Sunday’s Cup Series race.

Anthony Alfredo and the No. 38 MDS trucking team finished 18th in Sunday’s Cup Series race and scored their second Top-20 finish of the season.

TODD GILLILAND. NO. 38 CROSLEY BRANDS FORD F-150. FINISHED 1.

Todd Gilliland and his No. 38 Crosley Brands Ford F-150 started Saturday’s inaugural NASCAR Truck Series race at Circuit of The Americas from the 5th position.

Gilliland would prove impressive right from the drop of the green flag as the No. 38 Crosley Brands Ford F-150 would settle inside of the Top-5 and quickly go to work on running down the leader. With 5 laps remaining in the first stage, the No. 38 had climbed into the 3rd position as Crew Chief Chris Lawson came over the radio to tell Gilliland that he was running 2 seconds per lap faster than the leader. Then, on the Final Lap, Gilliland would overtake the lead and go on to win Stage 1 (his second stage win of the season). Under caution, the No. 38 Crosley Brands Ford F-150 would pit for an air pressure adjustment, 4 tires and fuel after Gilliland noted that his truck, “lacked a bit of forward drive, but the balance is good.” Unfortunately, the No. 38 team would be hit with a questionable “over the wall too soon” penalty, which forced the No. 38 Crosley Brands Ford F-150 to restart at the rear of the field for the second stage.

In Stage 2, Gilliland would continue to impress as he made quick work of driving back through the field and would be scored in the 8th position with only a handful of laps remaining as Lawson called the No. 38 to pit road for 4 fresh rain tires and fuel before going on to take the second green-white-checkered flag from the 9th position. During the Stage 2 Caution, Gilliland told the team that he was “just lacking a bit of side bite through the high speed stuff” and would stay out after pitting just before the second Stage Break Caution.

Gilliland would restart 5th for the Final Stage of Saturday’s NASCAR Truck Series race and would strategically pick away at the trucks in front of him as he climbed into the second position with 7 laps remaining in the race. Then, 2 laps later, the No. 38 Crosley Brands Ford F-150 would regain the lead and never looked back as Gilliland would make history, becoming the first NASCAR Truck Series driver to win at Circuit of The Americas as well as earning Front Row Motorsports their first Truck Series victory.

With his win on Saturday, Gilliland locks himself into the NASCAR Truck Series Playoffs and is now scored 4th in the playoff standings.

GILLILAND ON CIRCUIT OF THE AMERICAS:

“We had such a great truck today. Thank you to Crosley Brands, Ford Performance, Front Row Motorsports, Speedy Cash, Speedco, The Pete Store, Frontline Enterprises, Chicago Pneumatic, Black’s Tire and everybody that has come on board. This is a huge win for us; we’ve been gaining momentum every single week and today was another big step in the right direction for our team. I’m just so proud of everyone at Front Row Motorsports.”

MICHAEL MCDOWELL. NO. 34 LOVE’S TRAVEL STOPS | OUTWEST EXPRESS FORD MUSTANG. FINISHED 7.

Michael McDowell and the No. 34 Love’s Travel Stops | Outwest Express team started Sunday’s inaugural NASCAR Cup Series race at Circuit of The Americas from the 23rd position.

The race track was primarily dry during the pre-race pace laps, which prompted NASCAR to allow teams to pit for an optional tire swap as the field had put on rain tires prior to rolling onto the grid for pre-race ceremonies. During the optional pit stop, Crew Chief Drew Blickensderfer made the call for McDowell to keep his rain tires on as the weather radar showed incoming precipitation. The call proved to be the right one because rain began to fall just as the green flag dropped, to which the majority of the field would be forced to pit again and trade out their slick tires for wet ones. McDowell would quickly jump into second place before the caution flag would fly on Lap 9. McDowell would stay out during the caution and the No. 34 Love’s Travel Stops | Outwest Express Ford Mustang would lead the field back to green as the No. 34 would lead 3 laps, including McDowell’s 100th in the NASCAR Cup Series before going on to finish Stage 1 from the 2nd position.

During the first Stage Break Caution, McDowell would stay out and restarted Stage 2 from the 2nd position. The No. 34 Love’s Travel Stops | Outwest Express Ford Mustang would sustain significant left rear damage during a multi-car incident on Lap 20 after standing water on the straightaway between turns 11 and 12 created poor visibility. Under yellow, McDowell brought his race car to pit road for 4 fresh rain tires, fuel and damage repair and the No. 34 Love’s Travel Stops | Outwest Express Ford Mustang would restart from the 32nd position with 2 laps remaining in Stage 2. McDowell would gain 15 positions through the remainder of the stage as he took the second green-white-checkered flag from the 17th position. During the second Stage Break Caution, McDowell told the team that he had picked up a right rear tire rub and the would pit for 4 tires, fuel and damage repairs.

In the Final Stage of Sunday’s inaugural NASCAR Cup Series race at Circuit of The Americas, Michael McDowell and his No. 34 Love’s Travel Stops | Outwest Express Ford Mustang would blaze through the field once again as the rain began to intensify and would be scored in the 7th position when NASCAR displayed the yellow flag on Lap 54 for track conditions and shortly after made the decision to call the race early as the No. 34 Love’s Travel Stops | Outwest Express Ford Mustang would take the checkered flag from the 7th position.

Sunday’s 7th-place finish earns McDowell a career-best 5 Top-10 finishes in a single season as well as a team-best for the most Top-10 finishes for the No. 34 car in a single season.

MCDOWELL ON CIRCUIT OF THE AMERICAS:

“The beginning of the race wasn’t too bad. We started out on kind of a damp track and then obviously rain started coming down … once the rain started really coming down it was so treacherous. Once the cars got single filed out you were OK, but as soon as you got within four or five car lengths of a car it was pretty tough to see. I’m really proud of everybody on our No. 34 team, especially Drew and our pit crew because they did a great job of repairing the damage that we collected during Stage 2 and really kept us in the fight. I’m proud to bring home another Top-10 this season and I’m thankful to Love’s Travel Stops and Outwest Express for coming on board.”

ANTHONY ALFREDO. NO. 38 MDS FORD MUSTANG. FINISHED 18.

Anthony Alfredo scored his best NASCAR Cup Series finish on a non-superspeedway during Sunday’s rain-shortened event at the Circuit of the Americas. In a wild, rain-soaked race, Alfredo kept his No. 38 MDS Ford Mustang on the track, while many others could not, and passed from his rear starting position all the way to 18th before NASCAR officials called the race early due to the track and racing conditions.

Alfredo made driving without visibility look easy on Sunday. Starting the race on slick tires, the team came down pit road in Stage 1 to switch to rain tires as track conditions worsened. The team went to the back of the field after the stop, but moved up nearly 10 spots at the end of the stage to finish 26th.

Stage 2, the rain came down heavier and Alfredo stayed out. The pit strategy moved the No. 38 team into 19th and Alfredo avoided some major wrecks in the Stage. NASCAR was forced to red flag the race to help remove standing water from the track and clean-up after a wild wreck. Alfredo reported the conditions to the team, but he also continued to stay on strategy. The team pitted for more rain tires and fuel and finished Stage 2 in 24th.

The final stage, which was cut short due to the rain, Alfredo made a brilliant drive. He raced up to 15th before having to make his final stop for fuel. A quick stop by the crew, Alfredo, who still couldn’t see at times in the pouring rain, ran great laps. He quickly made his way back inside the top-20 and up to 18th. That is when NASCAR finally called the race with the rain just too much for the track to handle.

ALFREDO ON CIRCUIT OF THE AMERICAS:
“It was a wet and wild day. It’s a great facility and super cool to race there. But, it was pouring rain and the restarts were insane. It was impossible to see anything. That made it unpredictable.

“I feel that I’m getting better at road racing. We finished 18th and I’m pretty happy with that, especially for never racing in the rain before. I got a lot of experience. I wish we would have finished the race because I think we could have gotten a few more spots. I want to thank all our partners and everyone on the team. I look forward to coming back to this track.”

Buescher Survives Chaos, Finishes 13th at COTA

AUSTIN, Texas (May 23, 2021) – In one of the wildest races the NASCAR Cup Series has seen this season, Chris Buescher survived an adventurous afternoon to finish 13th in the AutoTempest Ford.

Rain was the theme of the weekend, one that saw a practice session Saturday morning, and qualifying Sunday morning just prior to the race. The weather held off most of the morning before it ultimately set in just after the green flag. It ultimately was the cause of the final red flag, which saw the race end at lap 54, 14 laps shy of the scheduled distance.

Buescher’s day started with a mechanical issue during qualifying, which put the team to the rear of the field to start the afternoon. However, he overcame the deficit to finish sixth in the opening stage, before going on to secure the top-15 result.

The start of the race saw interesting strategies play out as teams rolled off pit road on rain tires. Buescher brought his Ford Mustang to pit road in pace laps to switch to regular (slick tires), before pitting again just after lap one to switch back to rain tires.

After the first yellow at lap seven, Buescher restarted 14th and just a couple laps later worked his way inside the top-10. He would advance up to sixth by lap 15 securing valuable stage points.

He stayed out under the stage break and would restart fifth, and ran seventh by the next yellow at lap 19. He pitted during that yellow and restarted near the tail end before a multi-car incident at lap 24 sent the race to red. He went on to finish the stage in 14th and restarted stage three in 10th.

The final yellow waved at lap 53, one that ultimately sent the race to red due to track conditions, and would end the race with Buescher in 13th.

Buescher and the No. 17 team return to action next weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Coca-Cola 600. Race coverage is set for 6 p.m. ET Sunday on FOX and PRN, and coverage can also be heard on SiriusXM Channel 90.

Newman Finishes 24th in Inaugural Event at COTA

AUSTIN, Texas (May 23, 2021) – Ryan Newman put his Guaranteed Rate Ford in prime track position early at COTA Sunday afternoon, before heavy rains ultimately brought out the red flag late in what resulted in a rain-shortened race where Newman finished 24th.

The scheduled 68-lap race at the 20-turn road course – that NASCAR had never visited prior – delivered many variables throughout the weekend, including practice and qualifying sessions, something the NASCAR Cup Series hasn’t experienced in weeks. Once the green flag dropped Sunday, tire strategy quickly came into play before eventually track conditions were deemed too severe.

Newman began his day from the back third of the field after the qualifying session, but quickly maneuvered his way through the field early on. NASCAR mandated teams roll off the grid on rain tires – something the NCS rarely sees – but they were able to change to regular (slick) tires prior to the green flag. Newman was one of the teams to do just that, then at lap three switched back to rain tires as the rain picked up.

The 43-year-old was set in terms of pit strategy through the end of the first stage, where he ultimately finished 13th after the opening 15 laps. After not pitting under the break he restarted ninth at lap 18, before a multi-car incident a few laps later stacked up multiple cars.

Following a red flag, Newman went on to finish 18th in stage two. He would stay out again under the break, before hitting pit road under green with 24 to go. Then, with 15 laps remaining, another incident brought the red flag out, this time permanently as Newman was in 24th, where he finished the afternoon.

Newman and the No. 6 team return to action next weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Coca-Cola 600. Race coverage is set for 6 p.m. ET Sunday on FOX and PRN, and coverage can also be heard on SiriusXM Channel 90.

Steven Aghakhani and Jacob Eidson Score Podium Finish in Opening Race of IMSA Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America Season Saturday in Texas

Great Start/Restarts and Perfect Pit Work by US RaceTronics Team Help Aghakhani and Eidson Secure Third-Place Finish Saturday at Circuit of The Americas in No. 6 SADA Systems US RaceTronics Lamborghini Huracán

AUSTIN, Texas (May 23, 2020) – Steven Aghakhani and Jacob Eidson moved their 2021 IMSA Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America championship bid off to a fast start Saturday at Circuit of The Americas (COTA) with a third-place overall and Pro-class finish in the opening 50-minute race of the season in the No. 6 SADA Systems US RaceTronics (USRT) Lamborghini Huracán.

The out-of-the-gate podium showing came after a charge from ninth overall on the grid that was fueled by a great race start by Aghakhani, a pair of perfect restarts by both drivers and flawless pit work by the USRT team.

Saturday’s race was the first round of the season-opening doubleheader at COTA and Aghakhani pounced from the drop of the green flag, improving four positions on the opening lap.

“We came out here ready to do what we had to do,” Aghakhani said. “Qualifying was in the pouring rain, we took a gamble on the setup, and unfortunately it didn’t pay off. We started way back in P9, but had some very nice moves, some very good race craft, and all in all it was a very good race. The restart was a fun one for me. We tested a lot at COTA in the off season and practiced for every possible scenario. Race starts, yellow flags, restarts, pushing tires beyond the limit. It showed during the first race. The start was very intense. Same thing with the restart and we made up positions on both. It just goes to show that practice pays off.”

Aghakhani picked off one more position on the yellow-flag restart before handing the SADA Systems No. 6 Lamborghini off to Eidson less than 15 minutes from the finish.

Eidson returned to the race in the top five and then pulled off a strong restart of his own to jump from fifth to third just four laps from the finish.

“You’re only as good as your team,” Eidson said. “We have a great team and we know we have a good car. Race one was great. We started back in P9 and made our way up to P3 which is a victory in our eyes to gain that many positions.”

Starting Sunday’s second and final 50-minute sprint of the weekend from sixth on the grid, Eidson picked up right where he left off in Saturday’s race. Pulling off another superb start, Eidson moved up to fourth in the charge into Turn 1 on the opening lap, only to be hit by another Pro class competitor two turns later.

“I started P6 and made my way to P4 coming out of Turn 2, but we had some contact and unfortunately that led to a rear tire puncture,” Eidson said. “In some races, luck is on your side, and other races it’s not. Sunday it happened not to be, but over the course of the season that is all going to even out. We’re just going to have to race hard and race clean and I think we can still win this championship.”

Aghakhani stepped in to drive the No. 6 one lap after Eidson pitted for the tire change and kept the pressure on to the checkered flag for a sixth-place Pro-class finish.

“I had about 25 minutes to do whatever the hell I could,” Aghakhani said. “I went out and had an intense battle, but there’s only so much you can do hanging that far back in the field. We were still out there racing, not going out and giving up. I’ve got to thank the sponsors, SADA Systems, and our team, US RaceTronics and everyone that came out here this weekend. It was great fun to be out here, especially on a NASCAR weekend. We’ve got to go to VIR next and get that podium.”

Next up for Aghakhani and the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America series is Rounds 3 and 4 of the 2021 championship in another weekend doubleheader schedule of 50-minute races at VIRginia International Raceway (VIR), June 4 – 6.

The COTA weekend will be featured in a 60-minute recap program of all the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America opening round action airing at 2 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, June 2 on the NBC Sports Network (NBCSN).

Team Penske NASCAR Cup Series Race Report
Track: Circuit of the Americas
Race: EchoPark Automotive Texas Grand Prix
Date: May 23, 2021

No. 2 Thomas Built Buses Ford Mustang – Brad Keselowski

Start: 24th
Stage 1: 22nd
Stage 2: 13th
Finish: 19th
Status: Running
Laps Completed: 54/54
Laps Led: 0
Point Standings (behind first): 9th (-175)

Notes:

  • Brad Keselowski scored a 19th-place finish in the rain-soaked EchoPark Automotive Texas Grand Prix Sunday afternoon at Circuit of the Americas. The driver of the Thomas Built Buses Ford Mustang is now ninth in the NASCAR Cup Series driver point standings, 175 points behind leader Denny Hamlin.
  • Keselowski qualified 24th on Sunday morning at the 3.41-mile road course. Before the race began, NASCAR gave teams the option of starting the race on racing slicks or wet weather tires. Keselowski and crew chief Jeremy Bullins opted for slicks but pitted after the first lap to put on the wet weather tires after a steady rain began to fall. The No. 2 Ford returned to the track in 28th position. Bullins chose to pit again on lap 8, planning to run to the end of Stage 2 before another visit to pit lane. Keselowski was up to 12th when the Thomas Built Buses Mustang got turned around on lap 14, one lap from the conclusion of Stage 1. He recovered and was credited with a 22nd-place finish in the opening segment. Bullins made the call to remain out on track during the stage caution and Keselowski restarted 16th on lap 18.
  • The restart to begin Stage 2 was chaotic with rain and low visibility. Somehow Keselowski avoided the spinning car of Christopher Bell on lap 20 and then immediately pitted for four tires during the caution period that followed. Keselowski lined up 21st when the race returned to green flag conditions on lap 24. Another full course yellow slowed the pace on lap 26 and NASCAR officials made the call for single-file restarts for the remainder of the race. Keselowski did a solid job during the remainder of the segment to score a 13th-place finish when stage two ended on lap 32. Bullins once again called for Keselowski to remain on track during the stage caution and the No. 2 Ford restarted ninth when the green flag waved on lap 35.
  • One lap later, Keselowski found himself spun around again as he battled Ryan Newman for ninth place. The driver of the Thomas Built Buses Ford recovered without any damage to the No. 2 Mustang. He made a scheduled stop for four tires on lap 44 under the green flag. Over the final 10 laps of the race, Keselowski was able to gain a few positions, climbing his way up to 19th by lap 54 when more inclement weather and poor visibility forced NASCAR officials to call the race official 14 laps from the scheduled finish.

Quote: “It was a crazy race and visibility was certainly an issue. We were fortunate to not wreck.”

No. 12 BODYARMOR Ford Mustang – Ryan Blaney

Start: 9th
Stage 1: 16th
Stage 2: 19th
Finish: 17th
Status: Running
Laps Completed: 54/54
Laps Led: 0
Point Standings (behind first): 7th (-139)

Notes:

  • Ryan Blaney started ninth and finished 17th in a rain race at Circuit of the Americas on Sunday afternoon. Blaney’s BODYARMOR Ford Mustang suffered damage early in the second stage of the race, which put the No. 12 team in a battle for track position for the remainder of the event in the exceptionally challenging conditions.
  • On the second lap of the race, Blaney brought the BODYARMOR Mustang to pit road for Goodyear wet weather tires as rain began to intensify at the very onset of the race. Blaney pitted again under the yellow flag on lap 8 for tires and a significant trackbar adjustment. Blaney reported that the No. 12 Mustang needed to be freed up, but he still managed an 16th-place result in Stage 1.
  • As Stage 2 got underway, Blaney sustained major right rear damage to the No. 12 BODYARMOR Ford when the No. 20 car contacted the Team Penske Mustang under braking. The team made significant repairs to the car and avoided falling a lap down due to the long yellow flag laps. Blaney finished the second stage in the 19th position.
  • In the final stage, Blaney continued trying to work his way forward and he moved inside the top the top 15 he visited pit road for four tires, air pressure and trackbar adjustments. Unfortunately, the race was called at lap 54 for deteriorating conditions and was Blaney was credited with a 17th-place finish.

Quote: “We got damage really early in the race, and there was nothing we could do there. That really cost us our track position and made it an uphill battle for the rest of the race.”

No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Mustang – Joey Logano

Start: 6th
Stage 1: 1st – Third stage win of 2021
Stage 2: 12th
Finish: 3rd
Status: Running
Laps Completed: 54/54
Laps Led: 14
Point Standings (behind first): 4th (-111)

  • Joey Logano started sixth, won the opening stage and finished third in Sunday’s weather shortened race at Circuit of the Americas. Logano led a race-high 14 laps on the afternoon, before the weather conditions forced an early end to the debut NASCAR Cup Series race at the Texas road course.
  • Logano brought the Shell-Pennzoil Mustang to pit road on the opening lap for four Goodyear wet weather tires as rain began to fall after the green flag flew to start the race. Logano continued his forward charge, as he captured the race lead and won Stage 1 for the third stage win of the year for the Shell-Pennzoil Ford team.
  • After a lengthy delay for a multi-vehicle accident and water cleanup on the backstretch, the team elected to pit and made an air pressure and trackbar adjustment for Logano. The Shell-Pennzoil Mustang restarted in the 25th position and Logano fought back to finish Stage 2 in 12th place.
  • Logano restarted the final stage in the ninth position but worked his way up to third by lap 38, setting the potential final pit stop of the race. Logano visited pit road at the completion of lap 44 for four tires and two rounds of trackbar changes.
  • As the rain continued to intensify, Logano continued to advance as he patiently working his way into the top five as other cars came to pit lane. Logano moved into the fourth position and was told by the team that two of the three cars in front of him may not make it to the end on fuel. Unfortunately, rain brought an early end to the race at lap 54 with Logano running in the third position.

Quote: “Yeah, it was tough, but it was fun. I had a blast. It was mentally draining, mentally very, very challenging out there because the track changed so much from lap to lap. One lap it’s pouring. The next lap it’s raining a little bit and then you’re hydroplaning everywhere and you’re really slipping and sliding, and tires meant something, which I think was surprising to everybody — that tires meant something. You saw the 18 car drive through the field one time. We put tires on and were able to drive through the field, so it was kind of fun. We’re all learning together and trying to figure it all out at the same time.”

No. 33 PIRTEK Ford Mustang – Austin Cindric

Start: 3rd
Stage 1: 5th
Stage 2: 4th
Finish: 25th
Status: Running
Laps Completed: 54/54
Laps Led: 4
Driver Points: N/A

Notes:

  • Austin Cindric and the No. 33 PIRTEK Ford Mustang team finished the inaugural EchoPark Automotive Texas Grand Prix in the 25th position Sunday afternoon at Circuit of the Americas. Before NASCAR called the race early due to low visibility, the NASCAR Cup Series rookie showed his potential by battling veteran Kyle Busch for the race lead.
  • Cindric showed his speed early after he qualified third in his first-ever Cup Series qualifying attempt. He continued to show the power of the PIRTEK Ford as he captured the race lead on the first lap and he extended his lead to nine seconds as the rain began to steadily fall. Cindric came to pit road for a set of wet weather tires and was scored seventh when the first caution flag was displayed on lap 7. Cindric held strong in the top 10 throughout the first 15-lap stage, and he was scored fifth at the conclusion of the opening stage. Crew chief Miles Stanley called his driver to pit road for four tires, fuel and adjustments during the stage caution.
  • Cindric started Stage 2 from the 24th position and he continued to gain valuable Cup Series experience. He was able to race his way back inside the top five and was scored fourth before the red flag was displayed on lap 25 for a multi-car incident. The Mooresville N.C. native restarted third and he engaged in a memorable battle through the 20-turn circuit with Kyle Busch for the race lead before Cindric settled into second place. As the run progressed, Cindric’s Mustang lost front drive, but he was able to maintain his spot inside the top five to finish the second stage in the fourth position.
  • The PIRTEK Ford remained on track during the stage caution as Cindric restarted the race fourth and he quickly worked his way back up to second place. But once again, as the run progressed Cindric lost front drive and he fell to the 15th position before making a scheduled green-flag stop on lap 42 for a track bar adjustment, four tires and fuel. Once pit stops cycled through, Cindric was scored in 17th place. The PIRTEK Ford team made one final stop on lap 52 and Cindric rejoined the field in the 25th position. As rain continued to fall, causing low visibility, NASCAR ended the race after 54 laps and Cindric was credited with a 25th-place result.

Quote: “It was a lot of fun battling Kyle Busch for the lead in my PIRTEK Mustang. We had a good car on fire off, but just lost the front end so fast. We pitted right before NASCAR called the race and ended up 25th. Overall I learned a lot.”
