CHEVROLET RACING MEDIA PACKAGE: Road Course Prep at Spring Mountain

DETROIT, MI (May 18, 2021) – The NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) saw a diversified schedule for the 2021 season, featuring a variety of notable changes and new venues to make it one of the most dynamic schedules in the sport’s history. The overhaul of the 36-race season included a record seven road course circuit events, a major departure from a schedule that hosted only three in the previous year.

One of the most-anticipated new tracks for the Series is on tap this weekend, as NASCAR’s three premier national touring series will make their debut at the 3.41-mile, 20-turn course of Circuit of The Americas (COTA). Located just outside of Austin, Texas, the venue has previously been the host to the NTT IndyCar Series, Formula 1 and IMSA races, but the first for Chevrolet’s NASCAR drivers and teams. The twists and turns of the circuit’s landscape, featuring a 133-foot hill in Turn One, will provide for a weekend full of unknowns.

“Chevrolet Racing has the best road course racers in the sport and we want to keep it that way,” says Eric Warren, Chevrolet’s Director of NASCAR Programs. “We want to give drivers the opportunities to keep working on their craft and winning races. That’s what it’s all about every week.”

With road course circuits now making up nearly 20 percent of the NASCAR Cup Series schedule, Chevrolet is utilizing key resources to enhance the road racing skills of their driver lineup. As NASCAR headed west earlier this season, Chevrolet drivers paid a visit to the Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, the home of the Ron Fellows Performance Driving School. Chevrolet provided their drivers with a unique opportunity to experience a day full of both on-track and classroom instruction to build upon their abilities as a driver and increase their road course confidence as drivers and teams are faced with the season’s new, unique challenges.

Three of the final seven regular-season races will be held on road course circuits, putting even more of an emphasis on the importance of strong on-track performances to secure a driver’s Playoff spot and their chance to compete for the championship title. “Getting extra time on the road course is big,” said Richard Childress Racing’s Austin Dillon. “I think being at Spring Mountain is a huge advantage to us to get laps and learn from some of these guys that do it every day.”
Chevrolet heads to COTA just one victory away from capturing its 800th all-time win in NASCAR Cup Series history, an unprecedented milestone for the winningest brand in motorsports. The NASCAR Cup Series 68-lap, 231-mile EchoPark Texas Grand Prix at COTA will take the green flag on Sunday, May 23, at 2:30 p.m. ET. Live competition of the event will be broadcasted on FS1, PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.

CHEVROLET RACING INTERVIEW TRANSCRIPTS

ERIC WARREN, CHEVROLET’S DIRECTOR OF NASCAR PROGRAMS
WHAT DOES ADDITIONAL ROAD COURSE RACES MEAN FOR CHEVROLET RACING?
“From two races, to three races, to now seven races; it becomes a significant part of the schedule. All of the drivers and teams are really working on their skills and really understand what it takes to get those last tenths of a second out of a road course.”

WHAT ARE THE ROAD COURSE GOALS FOR TEAM CHEVY IN 2021?
“Chevrolet Racing has the best road course racers in the sport and we want to keep it that way. We want to give drivers the opportunities to keep working on their craft and winning races. That’s what it’s all about every week.”

AUSTIN DILLON, NO. 3 RICHARD CHILDRESS RACING CAMARO ZL1 1LE
HOW IMPORTANT ARE ROAD COURSE RACES IN MAKING THE PLAYOFFS?
“It’s huge. I come from an oval background and getting any extra time on a road course is big. Considering we have seven road courses this year, I think being at Spring Mountain (Motorsports Ranch) is a huge advantage to us to get laps and to learn from some of these guys that do it every day.”

ROSS CHASTAIN, NO. 42 CHIP GANASSI RACING CAMARO ZL1 1LE
WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO LEARN AT SPRING MOUNTAIN MOTORSPORTS RANCH?
“Just the motion of turning right. You’re going to miss corners; you’re going to over-brake and under-brake. So, just being out here going through the same motions when there’s not a full Cup Series field and there’s no points on the line. It’s just getting into the mindset of turning right.”

ERIK JONES, NO. 43 BLACK ENTREPRENEUR INITIATIVE CAMARO ZL1 1LE
WHAT ARE YOUR EXPECTATIONS GOING INTO COTA?
“(COTA) is really different than any road course we go to. COTA is a very technical and tight track, so it makes for a challenge when you get there. There’s some really tight corners and some really long straightaways. It’s a world-class facility and I’m just excited to get there and see it in person.”

CHASE ELLIOTT, NO. 9 HENDRICK MOTORSPORTS CAMARO ZL1 1LE
ELLIOTT ON HIS IMPRESSION OF COTA:
“The track was fun. Anytime you go somewhere new, a fresh track is refreshing, I feel like, for racecar drivers. I’ve enjoyed the challenge. I haven’t made a ton of laps, so it’s just really trying to understand what is this the right way or what is this the wrong way. It’s tough because when you’re new and you’re trying to get going, you might hit the first part of the track pretty good, then you might miss two spots somewhere else. Your lap time doesn’t tell the whole story. So, you really have to piece that together and understand what you think you did good and what you didn’t, and then go put the pieces of the puzzle together and try to put the whole thing in the works.”

Ford Performance NASCAR: Circuit of the Americas Advance

FORD PERFORMANCE NASCAR: CIRCUIT OF THE AMERICAS ADVANCE

A new venue takes center stage this weekend as the Circuit of the Americas plays host to all three of NASCAR’s top touring series for the first time. A doubleheader highlights Saturday’s action with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and NASCAR XFINITY Series while Sunday features NASCAR Cup Series qualifying and race.

This Week’s Schedule:

Saturday, May 22 – NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, 1 p.m. ET (FS1)

Saturday, May 22 – NASCAR XFINITY Series, 4 p.m. ET (FS1)

Sunday, May 23 – NASCAR Cup Series, 2:30 p.m. ET (FS1)

FORD’S ACTIVE ROAD COURSE CUP WINNERS

There are three current drivers who have one a NASCAR Cup Series race on a road course with Ford. The most recent winner was Ryan Blaney, who captured the inaugural event at the Charlotte Roval in 2018. Kevin Harvick, who goes into this weekend with 23 career Ford victories in just over four years, got his first with the Blue Oval in 2017 when he won at Sonoma. Joey Logano scored his Cup victory at Watkins Glen International in 2015, which completed a weekend sweep after he won the NASCAR XFINITY Series race one day earlier.

FORD LOOKING TO CONTINUE NXS INAUGURAL WIN STREAK

The last three times NASCAR has conducted a debut road course race in the NASCAR XFINITY Series a Ford has won. It started in 2018 when Chase Briscoe captured his first series victory in the inaugural event on the Charlotte Roval, and continued last year when Briscoe won the first race held on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course and Austin Cindric took the Daytona road course debut, which capped a personal streak of five wins in six races.

HARVICK, CINDRIC AND CUSTER PULLING DOUBLE DUTY

Kevin Harvick, Austin Cindric and Cole Custer will be competing in the NASCAR Cup and NASCAR XFINITY Series races this weekend at Circuit of the Americas. Harvick has two career NXS road course victories (Montreal and Watkins Glen, 2007) to go with a pair of Cup triumphs (Watkins Glen, 2006 and Sonoma, 2017). Cindric will try to complete a NASCAR trifecta because a win in the Cup race would give him at least one road course victory in all three top series. He has four career NXS road course wins (Watkins Glen and Mid-Ohio, 2019; Road America and Daytona, 2020) and one in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, 2017). Custer is still looking for his first road course victory in each series.

OTHER FORD ROAD COURSE WINNERS

Besides the drivers mentioned above, Ford has four other competitors who have won on a road course in either the NASCAR Cup or NASCAR XFINITY Series. Ryan Newman (Watkins Glen NXS, 2005); Brad Keselowski (Watkins Glen NXS with Ford, 2013); Chris Buescher (Mid-Ohio NXS with Ford, 2014); and Michael McDowell (Road America NXS, 2016).

FORD ROAD COURSE WINS IN THE MODERN ERA (1972-Present)

Circuit of the Americas will represent the sixth road course the NASCAR Cup Series has competed on in the modern era, joining Riverside International Raceway (1958-88), Watkins Glen International (1957-Present), Sonoma Raceway (1989-Present), Charlotte Motor Speedway (2018-Present) and Daytona International Speedway (2020-Present). Two more will join that list later this year when the circuit goes to Road America (July 4) and Indianapolis Motor Speedway (Aug. 15). Ford has produced a total of 19 combined wins at those facilities from 1972-Present. Mark Martin leads the way with four victories, including three straight years at Watkins Glen, while Ricky Rudd, Marcos Ambrose and Geoffrey Bodine have two each.

Tips on how to win online casino games

Gambling at an online casino can give you enjoyment, and you can win some real money. However, this does not happen by accident. Gambling can disappoint you if you do not know what you are doing. It will be best if you learn some strategies on how to play and win. It’s good to get informed and be wise before you can start gambling on an online casino.

Here are some tips that could help you to win at online casino games:

Research and choose the best online casino site

Do some research before choosing an online casino site. Check its payout percentage and speed, and determine whether its speed is compatible with your devices and internet speed. Read reviews online to know the best online casino sites like bet22. If there are positive reviews from other players, you can choose the site. Avoid a site that has a lot of negative reviews. Leading a quick background check can help you select the best online casino site.

Avoid chasing losses

Finding yourself on a downward spiral from the start of the session is very typical. Trying to gain it all back quickly through larger wagers or high-risk bets is a poor decision. Other players might notice this and take advantage of your poor decisions, and you end up losing. Take note when you are at a losing line, accept the situation, and do not fall into the temptation of betting over your session fund.

Learn the online casino game strategies first

First, you should learn the online casino game strategies before you can start playing. Competent players who know how to manage their bankroll and which moves they should make have better chances of winning than other players who do not know the gaming strategies. It will be helpful if you know strategies when playing a game to win real money. Keep in mind that some games do not have known strategies and no known patterns.

Avoid alcohol

When playing, avoid alcohol. If you want to win money, stay alert and be ready to make good decisions. Alcohol interferes with inhibitions and can influence you to take risks you would not have taken if you were sober.

Play casino games within your limit

Online casino gives players quite a few chances to improve their gameplay and increase stakes like tournaments or detailed games. Although it’s alluring to play for big jackpots, you should know your skill limits and experience level.

High stakes mean more pressure. If you are a new player, you can be prone to fall into a pitfall that more experienced gamblers know how to avoid. Set winning and losing limits in each session and stick to them. They will keep your mind at ease and you will see gambling as it is instead of seeing it as something unreasonably important.

Bottom line

Choose the best online casino sites to enjoy a gambling experience and win some real money. Learn the gaming strategies before you can start to play. Ensure you avoid alcohol while gambling as it can influence you to make wrong decisions. Also, it’s good to know your limits, set your goals, and stick to them.

“Lots of excitement and anticipation for the opening round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America. To start, I am extremely grateful and honored to drive for Wayne Taylor Racing in the No. 1 Prestige Performance Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo. Furthermore, I look forward to the challenge of a new car and new series. We race to win and that’s the goal. Of course, we don’t expect it to be easy, it never is, and this year’s grid appears to be a record setting with thirty-plus entries, and a Pro category filled with many fast and experienced drivers. We must be smart and fast to win. I know WTR, Danny and myself are up for the challenge.”

I’ve be preparing for the first race of the season by been spending a lot of time focusing on physical and mental fitness to prepare for longer runs, consistency and overall performance. I’m very thankful to CoreSyte and Philbin Sports Performance for their guidance to helping me prepare for this season. I have also been spending much more time on the DPi side this year and I’ve learned so much by just watching the DPi drivers communicate with their engineers about the car, track, and competitors. After testing at COTA earlier this year, I feel confident going into the first race of the season.

Randy Sellari, No. 03 Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Super Trofeo (AM)
“I’m excited to be back with WTR and begin my Lamborghini Super Trofeo AM class challenge after a successful 2020 LB Cup Championship. The AM field will be one of the more competitive fields this year with many new and existing fast and skilled drivers vying for our respective championship. In fact, the entire season will be a challenge with 30+ cars, starting with an exciting first race at COTA, where Lamborghini hasn’t raced since 2017. With that said, I believe I’ve given myself the best chance of success by having the premiere and seasoned professionals of WTR in my corner. I couldn’t be happier sharing this challenge with them and my new teammates.”

Jordan Missig, No. 53 Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Super Trofeo (LB Cup)
“I’m really excited and looking forward to have the opportunity to work with Wayne Taylor Racing this weekend at Circuit of the Americas. I was fortunate enough to be able to test a Lamborghini earlier this year, So I am going to use what I learned there and apply that here. “

USAC/CRA SPRINT CARS 70th SALUTE TO INDY AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY THIS SATURDAY

Damion Gardner will be going for a record-tying fifth victory in Saturday's Salute to Indy. Mike Grosswendt Photo.

(Perris, CA, May 17, 2021) This Saturday night, May 22nd, Perris Auto Speedway will host one of the nation’s oldest sprint car races when the 70th running of the Salute to Indy returns after a year in hiatus due to the COVID crisis.

Headlining the racing card on the famous Riverside County half-mile clay oval will be the popular 410 cubic inch Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars.  The PAS Senior Sprints will also be in action.  Spectator gates will open at 5:00 P.M. with racing at 7:00.  Due to COVID mandates, tickets must be purchased online at the following link  https://www.tix.com/ticket-sales/pas/7/event/1219096.  There will be no walk-up ticket sales for this race.

The “Salute to Indy,” which is a tip of the hat to the Indianapolis 500, dates back to 1948 when Dempsey Wilson captured the inaugural running of the now prestigious event. From 1948 through 1990, the race was contested in all but five years.  After legendary Ascot Park closed in 1990, it was put on ice until The PAS hosted it in 1996.   Since its rebirth in the Inland Empire, the famed race has taken place each year with the exception of 2008 when it was canceled by rain, and 2020 when it was wiped out by COVID.

While this weekend’s affair comes 73-years after the race was initially held, it will be the 70th running.  You may be wondering how that can be as the race did not take place 12-times since its introduction.  The answer is a simple one.  Some years in the 1970s and 1980s, Ascot held multiple races over Memorial Day weekend and each race was called the Salute to Indy.  In 1971, 1978, 1981, 1982 and 1983, there was two Salute to Indy races.  In 1980, three editions of the race took place on the revered grounds located at 190th and Vermont in Gardena, California.

Over the years, National Sprint Car Hall of Famers Dean Thompson and Bubby Jones recorded the most Salute to Indy wins with five victories each.  However, all of Thompson’s wins came in years when the race was held multiple times.  In addition, three of Jones five triumphs took place when the race was held more than one time per year.

Only two drivers have won the race four times.  One is National Sprint Car Hall of Famer Billy Wilkerson and the other is eight-time USAC/CRA Sprint Car champion Damion Gardner of Concord, California. Unlike Thompson and Jones, Wilkerson and Gardner’s triumphs all came when the race was only run one time per year.  Wilkerson’s victories came at Ascot in 1968, 69,’ 72’ and 73.’ Gardner’s triumphs came in 2003, 04,’ 14,’ and 17’ and all were at The PAS.  A win on Saturday by Gardner would tie him with Thompson and Jones for the most wins in Salute to Indy history.  In addition, if Gardner wins on Saturday, it will be his 98th victory in combined SCRA, and USAC/CRA competition.  That would tie him with racing great Cory Kruseman.  In the all-time history of the original CRA, SCRA and the Current USAC/CRA dating back to 1946, only Thompson with 105 wins, and Rip Williams with 104, have more victories than Kruseman and Gardner.

“Had Damion Gardner not spent six years racing with the USAC National Series in the Midwest, he probably would have more wins than any other driver in the Salute to Indy,” PAS promoter Don Kazarian said.  “He will have a lot of extra incentives to win on Saturday.  In addition to tying for the lead in all-time wins for the Salute, and tying Cory Kruseman for third on the all-time West Coast victory list, he also has new sponsor Performance Online on board.  He wants to get a first win for them.”

In addition to Gardner, two other past winners of the Salute to Indy will be in action on Saturday.  One is Yorba Linda’s Matt Mitchell and the other is “The Big Game Hunter,” Austin Williams, of Corona.  Mitchell sipped the traditional chocolate milk that PAS winners get at the Salute to Indy, in 2011 and 2013.   Williams did likewise when he crossed the finish line first in 2016 and 2018.

Saturday will be the 24th edition of the Salute to Indy at The PAS.  As mentioned earlier, it was not held in 2008 due to rain, and in 2020 when COVID intervened.   Other years in the race’s history that it did not take place were 1950, 1951, 1960, 1965, 1970, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, and 1995.

Saturday’s show will include qualifying, 10-lap heat races, a 12-lap B Main event and a 30-lap A Main for the USAC/CRA drivers.  The Senior Sprint Cars, for drivers 40-years-old and over, will contest an eight-lap heat race and a 20-lap main event.

COVID rules will still be intact on Saturday. In addition to no walk-up ticket sales, all fans will have to wear face coverings and distance from others not in their group in the grandstands.  PAS concessions will only be available via the “FanFood” app.  The app is a free download from the App Store.  Fans will order and pay for their food order from their seats.  When the order is ready, they will receive a text to pick up the order at the designated station nearest where they are sitting in the grandstands.

Online tickets for 2021 Perris Auto Speedway races are on sale at  https://www.tix.com/ticket-sales/pas/7.   Fans will be able to purchase tickets online at the above tix link up until 7:00 p.m. each race night.  The entire 2021 schedule is available at the bottom of this release.

Fans can stay up to date on track and driver news on The PAS social media efforts at the links below.

Yamaha Unveils All-New 2022 YZF-R7 Supersport Motorcycle

Yamaha’s Proven CP2 Engine Joins the Next Generation of R World

MARIETTA, Ga., May 18, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA, today introduced the all-new 2022 YZF-R7 as the latest model in the company’s Supersport motorcycle segment. Built from the ground up with a sleek ultra-thin lightweight chassis powered by Yamaha’s proven 700cc-class CP2 engine, and enhanced with track-focused supersport features, the R7 embodies the R-Series’ rich history of aggressive performance and racing dominance.

R World is Calling
Yamaha has a rich heritage of building the most sought after Supersport motorcycles designed to deliver the pinnacle of performance on and off the track. From the rider-friendly YZF-R3 to the exclusive and track-focused YZF-R1M, the Yamaha R-series model lineup provides options for riders of all skill levels to experience the pure exhilaration of R World.

The all-new 2022 YZF-R7 bridges the gap between the entry-level YZF-R3 and the prestigious YZF-R1, offering a midlevel option for both new riders looking to grow into a more powerful motorcycle, as well as experienced riders seeking a fully-faired motorcycle with Supersport performance that fits within their budget. With a unique package of performance, price and sporty styling, the R7 is true to its R-Series DNA and the lineup’s aspirational history of racing success.

All-New YZF-R7
The all-new 2022 YZF-R7 delivers proven power, a narrow chassis, and new styling that reflects the exhilarating next-generation of R World. It is packed with a range of features that include an engaging 689cc CP2 engine, a slim and lightweight frame with excellent aerodynamics, an inverted front fork with excellent front-end feel, and a racing-inspired cockpit with a supersport rider position.

689cc CP2 Engine
YZF-R7 uses Yamaha’s proven 689cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke, in-line two-cylinder, DOHC CP2 engine, giving the rider a feeling of a direct connection from the throttle to the rear wheel. Forged aluminum pistons with direct-plated cylinders integrated with the crankcase makes for lighter weight and excellent strength at higher temperatures, ensuring reliability at higher rpm. The crossplane engine’s 270-degree crank provides an uneven firing sequence with a more characterful exhaust note that emphasizes torquey acceleration and linear power delivery for outstanding response at all engine speeds. Additionally, the R7 has an optimized secondary gear ratio that creates an exhilarating ride and a sporty feel.

Ultra-Narrow Lightweight Chassis
The YZF-R7’s ultra-narrow, high-strength steel frame provides excellent rigidity for a sporty and responsive ride by mounting aluminum center braces near the swingarm pivot which improve torsional rigidity. Rake, trail, and wheelbase dimensions have also been optimized for superb handling while cornering on a racetrack or a twisty section of pavement. The narrow, lightweight frame design has resulted in the slimmest bodywork found in Yamaha’s Supersport lineup and reduces air resistance while incorporating the rider’s body into its design.

Sporty New Suspension
The 2022 YZF-R7 features an inverted KYB 41mm front fork with optimized spring rate and damping settings for an excellent front-end feel during cornering and braking. The product-specific settings make for easy and predictable behavior, with a stiff feel for twisty roads and racetracks. The fork is fully adjustable for preload, rebound and compression damping force. The inverted KYB front forks are mounted to the steering tube via a forged aluminum lower triple clamp, and a gravity-cast aluminum upper triple clamp.

A linked-type Monocross single-shock with adjustable spring preload and rebound damping strikes a balance between ride comfort and sporty performance for capability across a wide range of uses, from urban commuting to track days. The rear shock unit is mounted horizontally, fastened to the crankcase for efficient use of space and weight, contributing to mass centralization and further enhancing the bike’s compact size.

Potent Braking Power
The 2022 YZF-R7 is equipped with a new radial brake master cylinder from Brembo. This new Brembo radial master cylinder provides a more linear supply of hydraulic pressure to the radial mounted-mounted, 4 POT front brake calipers creating excellent controllability and stopping power through dual 298mm front brake rotors.

Comfort-Focused Racing-Inspired Cockpit
The YZF-R7’s new racing-inspired cockpit puts the rider in a comfortable and confidence-inspiring position that evokes an eagerness to ride. A comfortable new seat with material and cushioning used in the YZF-R1, combined with new low-profile fuel tank covers with deep knee pockets for optimal hip and knee positioning gives the rider freedom to adjust positions while also providing a firmly planted feel when leaned over and a sturdy body hold under braking. Separate clip-on handlebars are set in relation to the rider’s hips and footpeg positions for an aggressive position allowing the rider to naturally grip the machine with confidence, especially when tucking behind the windscreen on twisty roads or on the racetrack.

New LCD Instruments
The 2022 YZF-R7 features a new full LCD instrument panel. The high-contrast negative dashboard and its compact and lightweight multifunction display with larger displays for the clock, gear, trip meters and tachometer provide clear information. The use of spot color gives an accent for the high-rpm range display – and new handlebar switches enables the rider to operate the meter more easily and efficiently.

New LED Lighting
The iconic R-Series M-shaped intake duct and twin-eye front design of the new YZF-R7 houses an adaptive bi-functional LED headlight. The R7 is also equipped with a new LED taillight and front and rear turn signals. Light and compact, the new LED lighting complements the next-generation style of the bike and reinforces the premium specification of the Supersport class. Not only do the LEDs offer long life with minimal power draw, they provide brilliant illumination for confidence and visibility day or night.

2022 YZF-R7 Key Features

  • 689cc crossplane technology CP2 engine
  • 270-degree crankshaft for linear power delivery

First Indigenous Dirt Track Racing Docu-Series on APTN; “Friday Night Thunder”

Big Soul Productions announces the May 7th premiere of Friday Night Thunder, a fast-paced docu-series following racing families at the Ohsweken Speedway—the only track on Indigenous land in Canada. Equal parts poignant and light-hearted, Friday Night Thunder challenges viewers’ perceptions of the world of dirt racing.

Produced by Big Soul Productions, a 100% Indigenous-owned production company, and airing on APTN Fridays at 8 pm and Saturdays at 12 pm, Friday Night Thunder captures the emotions, community, and connection at the core of the dangerous sport. Spectators watch as drivers careen around a 3/8 mile track with low visibility—crashes are inevitable and devastating, while winning has little material reward. Friday Night Thunder digs deeper into what makes dirt racing at the Ohsweken Speedway a time-honoured tradition among many families in the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory in southern Ontario.

“It’s not necessarily about racing, it’s about the family dynamic of racing—both real and track families,” says Laura Milliken, producer and director. “It’s about how important living is, looking for the light in your life.”

The series follows Glenn Styres, the founder and owner of Ohsweken Speedway, in the aftermath of a career-ending crash. Styres acts as a mentor and role model to the drivers, providing support on and off the track. Styres built the track 25 years ago and it has been a staple in the region ever since. “It’s really a good thing that Glenn did, because I think it has brought the community together and gives them something to do and keep busy on Friday nights,” said driver Alex Hill in an interview with the CBC. Hill, a 21-year old sprint car racer, is currently the only Indigenous woman to compete in the American Sprint Car Series.

Friday Night Thunder focuses on the lives of these drivers first, and the high-octane world of dirt racing second. Echoing the community on the track, Friday Night Thunder invites viewers into this tight-knit and adrenaline-packed club.

ABOUT BIG SOUL PRODUCTIONS
Big Soul Productions Inc. is a Toronto-based production company owned by Anishinaabe producer/entrepreneur Laura J. Milliken. Big Soul Productions is dedicated to creating, developing, and producing films and television representing the Indigenous voice while generating much needed capacity for Indigenous creatives in the industry.

Friday Night Thunder was produced with the participation of APTN and CMF.

Following the passing of the HB19-1327 bill back in 2019, the Centennial State become the nineteenth US states to legalize online sports betting activities within its borders. Once the bill was signed into law by the voters, both online and retail sports betting sites were allowed to start offering their services and products in Colorful Colorado as of the 1st of May last year.

Almost one year later, the state of Colorado became the sixth US state to generate USD 2 billion in lifetime betting revenues. Since May 2020, many renowned Colorado betting sites emerged on the scene and all of them are fully licensed and regulated by the Colorado Division of Gaming regulatory body that grants licenses alongside being responsible for overseeing all sorts of iGaming activities within the state’s borders.

The launch of online sports betting sites on the 1st of May 2021 allowed the newly thriving Colorado iGaming market to offer Colorado residents awesome betting deals on various betting markets with all major leagues covered including the NBA, NFL, MLB, and others. With awesome opportunities, Colorado bettors invested over USD 300 million in bets in March only.

Sportsbooks in Colorado Generated Over USD 300 Million in Bets in March

After looking into these staggering official numbers, it becomes obvious that Colorado sportsbooks have managed to bounce back quickly from the previous month’s decline. With over USD 300 million generated by Colorado sportsbooks in March, the thirty days of the month were enough for the state’s iGaming sector to surpass a staggering USD 2 billion in lifetime betting handle. Reaching this milestone came only eleven months after the iGaming industry officially launched.

Before Colorado, only five states surpassed this USD 2 billion mark in lifetime betting revenues. March Madness and the biggest NCAA tournament most certainly fueled those March growing numbers as the state’s retail and online sports betting sites took in over USD 300 million in wagers. According to the official report by the Colorado Department of Revenue’s Division of Gaming, revenues from betting on sports like football, basketball, and NASCAR increased by around 12% percent when compared to February, and USD 266 million generated in wagers that month.

Colorado Sports Betting Revenue Report

According to the official report by the Colorado Department of Revenue’s Division of Gaming, Colorado bettors wagered around USD 9.7 million daily in March which is slightly more than February when they wagered around USD 9.5 million daily. March has also been more successful as USD 20.4 million was generated in gross gaming revenues as opposed to USD 10.4 million taken in back in February. Eleven months after launching, Colorado sportsbook gave away USD 5.6 million to the state in taxes.

In March, Colorado sportsbooks gave away to the state USD 1.1 million in taxes. This is way above the state’s biggest competitor in terms of their market size Indiana which generated around USD 2.5 million in taxes from USD 316 million in wagers.

The most bets were placed on the NCAA and the NBA. Basketball and NCAA online bets generated USD 103 million and USD 69 million respectively and USD 3.2 million and USD 1.2 million in retail. So, 35.5% and 23.6% of all wagers by Colorado bettors were placed on the NBA and NCAA basketball. The top ten sports in Colorado by total bets placed include:

  • Ice hockey with USD 12 million in online wagers
  • Tennis with USD 10 million in online wagers
  • Soccer with USD 8.9 million in online wagers
  • Table tennis with USD 8.8 million in online wagers
  • Golf with USD 4.8 million in online wagers
  • MMA with USD 3.4 million in online wagers
  • Baseball with USD 599,147 in online wagers
  • Motorsports with USD 601,850 in online wagers
  • Parlays generated over USD 55 million from online bettors
