Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg is rescheduled for late April

The annual NTT INDYCAR SERIES event will move to April 23-25, 2021

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (Jan. 6, 2021) – The Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg has been rescheduled to April 23-25, 2021, officials from the City of St. Petersburg, Green Savoree St. Petersburg, LLC (GSSP) and INDYCAR confirmed today. It will move from March 5-7 to a later spring date when the feasibility of hosting a greater number of fans is possible.

“I want to thank our friends at INDYCAR and our partners at Green Savoree for putting the health and safety of fans first. Each of these races takes an incredible amount of work from hundreds of dedicated professionals, and I know the decision to move the date of the race is not made lightly,” said St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman. “I appreciate the drivers, teams, staff, and most of all the fans for their patience and understanding. I look forward to welcoming everyone to the next Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.”

The event usually kicks off the INDYCAR season, and last year served as the thrilling season finale for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES due to its postponement in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It’s not surprising that an event of this magnitude, scheduled for the first week of March, is still subject to the implications of the pandemic,” Penske Entertainment Corp. President and CEO Mark Miles said. “We’re delighted we were able to work with Mayor Rick Kriseman’s administration and Green Savoree Racing Promotions to find a more suitable date, which helps consolidate the beginning of our schedule and allows us to stay on NBC network television.”

“We appreciate the officials at INDYCAR for their support in setting a new date for the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, and also to Mayor Kriseman and his team at the City of St. Petersburg for identifying a time when it will be conducive for more fans to attend,” said Kim Green, co-owner, chairman and CEO of GSSP, organizers of the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. “We are grateful to keep the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg in the springtime window and also maintain the live national broadcast coverage of the race on NBC.”

Additional event information and customer FAQs will be posted at gpstpete.com in the coming days. Ticket purchasers on file and also those customers who deferred tickets from the 2020 event will also receive a direct communication on the renewal and ticketing process.

The rescheduled event now set for April 23-25, 2021 will be subject to the guidance and mandates of national, state and local authorities regarding public gatherings as the conditions evolve with the ongoing pandemic. The health and safety of all associated with this event will remain the priority of the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.

INDYCAR Announces Update to 2021 NTT INDYCAR SERIES Schedule

Series to return to popular Streets of St. Petersburg in April

INDIANAPOLIS (Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021) – INDYCAR officials have announced the 2021 Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg is being rescheduled for Sunday, April 25 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The move creates a condensed, action-packed early-season schedule for 2021.

The NTT INDYCAR SERIES returns to the Streets of St. Petersburg after Josef Newgarden’s thrilling win last October, which culminated with Scott Dixon’s sixth series title. NBC will remain as the television home of this year’s race on the tight, demanding street layout.

Due to the move, Barber Motorsports Park becomes the host of the season opener as the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama will raise the curtain on the 2021 season.

The Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg will mark the 18th NTT INDYCAR SERIES event in the Sunshine City. The traditional season opener since 2011 and a fan favorite on the INDYCAR schedule, the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg received a three-year title sponsorship extension from Bridgestone Americas, Inc. last October.

An updated listing of green flag times for the 2021 NTT INDYCAR SERIES schedule will be announced at a later date.

Gregory will follow Steve Page who announced his retirement last August after nearly three decades at the helm of Sonoma Raceway.

“Jill Gregory has demonstrated innovative leadership in sports marketing for more than 25 years,” stated Smith. “She brings a background of not only professional accomplishment and familiarity with our company, but as a native of northern California, she also brings a passion for the region that makes her an exceptional successor to follow Steve Page’s distinguished career.

“I’m thrilled that Jill is joining us at Speedway Motorsports, and I look forward to seeing all that she and our Sonoma Raceway team will accomplish in the years ahead.”

“Starting with the vision of Speedway Motorsports founder Bruton Smith, I’ve always admired the company’s efforts to grow the sport of NASCAR and embrace innovative, new opportunities,” added Gregory. “I look forward to taking that same aggressive approach to further establish Sonoma Raceway as not only a premier destination for NASCAR and NHRA events, but also elevating the historic road course as a year-round tourism and driving-experience attraction.

“I’m grateful to have worked with such a talented team of people at NASCAR, and I look forward to continuing those professional relationships from a new trackside perspective on the West Coast.”

5 Situations Where You May Need To Call A Tow Truck

When you need to call for a towing service, it typically means getting a vehicle removed from a location. You may be out on the road, or a car may have become a nuisance. A towing service can help you get a car moving. But how will you know if you need to call for towing assistance? You may find yourself in the following scenarios below.

  1. Running Out Of Gas

While unavoidable, running out of gas happens out of forgetfulness when life is too hectic. Others do not check out of carelessness. It is also dangerous when your vehicle suddenly stops in the middle of the desert, and the nearest gas station is miles away. Call for towing services in Las Vegas and ask them to bring fuel for your car. They can tell if your car also has other concerns that may need looking into.

  1. Vehicular Accidents

Calling an Emergency Towing service is a must when your vehicle collides with another or if you hit a pole, tree, or kind of structure. The damage may be obvious on the outside, but there can be more inside the engine. Most services will be able to tell what needs to be done. If you have enough car insurance, it will be able to cover the cost. Calling for a tow truck is also safer than continuing driving the vehicle yourself. You might regret it when you encounter more problems on the road later.

  1. Flat Tires

Tires can run out of air from low pressure, or when a foreign object can damage the surface. Some drivers know how to fix a flat tire. Others also use tires labeled as run-flat, which means they can still run a certain distance at a slowed speed even while punctured. That allows you to reach the nearest garage. But what if you do not have that luxury? Your car may have also stopped in a place you think is unsafe. Stay inside your car for safety, and immediately call for towing service.

  1. Dead Battery

Your car may stop in the middle of the road due to a dead battery. A car battery runs out of power due to the following: poor maintenance, using car lights and air conditioning when the car isn’t running, and when the air temperature is low, among others. Professional towing services in KC (or elsewhere) may be able to jumpstart the car batteries for you, and it may not need towing. If the problem persists, the tow truck will pull or haul it away to a garage.

  1. Abandoned Vehicle Or Wrong Parking

Towing services not only cater to stranded vehicles. If you’re a business owner and left a car in your parking space, you can try to find the owner. Sometimes, drivers will abandon stolen vehicles, or people use parking spaces even when they’re not customers. If, after all the effort exerted to find the owner, you can check the registration and have it towed away.

You may also have an old car stored in a garage damaged beyond repair. Call for a tow truck to bring it to a junkyard. Junkyards will pay for junk cars as scrap metal. You may have to pay for the towing service, but you’ll get a fraction of that fee back by selling it instead.

Bottomline

Calling for a tow truck service ensures your safety on the road. They act as the lifeline when your vehicle suddenly breaks down due to various reasons. They also help take you to safety when your car breaks down in unfamiliar territory. Totaled cars also need to be hauled away when you’re involved in an accident. As a driver, you must also have the best tow truck companies’ contact details wherever you’re heading. It’s best to know who to call when you encounter such situations.

Phoenix Raceway to Host Limited Fans for 2021 NASCAR Spring Event Weekend, March 12-14

PHOENIX (Jan. 4, 2021) – As NASCAR returns to the Valley of the Sun for Phoenix Raceway’s annual spring event weekend, March 12-14, Phoenix Raceway will host a limited, reduced number of fans throughout the three-day event.

The reduced capacity for the 2021 spring event weekend is due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and continues to be in accordance with enhanced safety protocols and procedures to provide a safe environment for fans, competitors, employees and industry personnel.

“We look forward to kicking off another 2021 NASCAR season at Phoenix Raceway this March and while we wish we could host a capacity crowd, the health and safety of everyone remains our top priority,” said Phoenix Raceway President Julie Giese. “In similar fashion to this past November for the track’s first-ever NASCAR Championship Weekend, we plan to host a limited number of fans for this event. November was a tremendous success, and we look forward to executing another safe and successful event this March.”

As a result of the seating capacity limitations, many guests will have their grandstand seats relocated to ensure social distancing between groups. Also due to the limited capacity, Phoenix Raceway will no longer be able to accommodate some guests that have already purchased tickets for the spring event weekend. Season ticket holders will receive priority as part of this process.

Due to restricted access to the competition area, the INfield Experience will not be available, but similar to the NASCAR Championship Weekend in November, reserved table seating will be available in the infield as part of the INfield Hub for the NASCAR Xfinity Series race on Saturday and the NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday. Hillside seating will also be made available on Sunday.

Camping will still be available with campgrounds opening on Monday, March 8. All campers will be pre-screened upon entry and will be asked to park in the same direction on the right side of each campsite with all campsites limited to a maximum of six guests per spot.

In addition to maintaining a strict adherence to 6’ social distancing throughout the venue, all guests will be screened before entering the facility at staggered entry times and will be required to wear face coverings. Multiple handwashing and hand-sanitizing stations will be placed throughout the operating areas and entrances and a “clean team” of staff, clearly identified for guests, will be cleaning or disinfecting at all times. Additional information for the NASCAR spring event weekend at Phoenix Raceway and its safety protocols may be found online at PhoenixRaceway.com/protocols or by calling Phoenix Raceway at 866-408-RACE (7223).
